  1. Wow, you just whiffed on a "Major League" reference! How disappointing.
  2. TD "representin' " the Blue Colonels -- well done Tony. Highlands wins this one by a large margin, and NO, I'm not a Highlands guy. Nees, you expect a fast start for the Red Colonels this year? That is a heck of a first 3 games they have on the slate. I think it would be more likely to see Dixie start very slowly (0-3 or 1-2) and then get it cranked up for District and post-season play.
  3. Back to your original question, my "home course" is Legendary Run in Cincinnati (east side).
  4. Interesting thought. Does CCH underachieve during the season or do they just play a brutal schedule that results in losses to very good teams?
  5. The Reds lost because Griffey, Dunn, and Phillips were 0-17. Period. All 3 of those guys had numerous chances to blow it open. Eddie need to slam the door on that one, but he had been 7 for 7 so it is hard to get on him too hard. Hollandsworth made a super catch, but looked like he was pressing at the dish. The bully needed to step up in the 8th and 9th and didn't, that, combined with the Dunn, Griff, BP stats I listed above were the difference. I'd have walked Howard in the 14th and not thought twice about it. He got the pitcher and just needed to make quality pitches to Rowand, he didn't, game over.
  6. I'm not necessarily married to the "Batter, Batter, Batter" chant, but are we seriously asking that infields knock off chatter because the Ump may get sick of hearing it? Wow. Talk it up boys, come on now one time.
  7. 100% of LaRue is worse than 80% of most catchers in the Mountain West Conference. GT -- I don't feel sorry for him anymore. I met some Cardinal fans in our parking garage before the game, great guys in blue throw-back jerseys. Hilarious. I would give anything to have heard them walking back to their car after the game. I would guess Izzy and LaRussa were getting lambasted down 3rd Street.
  8. I don't think so, it looked like it was on top of the Batter's eye. What a comeback -- down 4-0 and to fight back against Carpenter & Co. HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I don't care if he can't catch a ball from the outfield!!! Winner winner chicken dinner. Where did that thing land?
  10. Dunn JUST missed one and BP finishes the job. New game boys and girls. That strikeout of Pujols looks HUGE right now.
  11. Are you implying Javy Valentin couldn't play CF in a pinch? Now you're just being unrealistic.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if Denorfia goes down -- Krivsky said he wanted him playing every-day if he was going to be up here, and with how Freel is playing, that can't happen. Or, Valentin is going somewhere and they need a lefty pinch-hitter. Or, Narron is complaining to Wayne that he doesn't feel comfortable with only 4 outfielders on the roster. Or, Griffey is due for a DL visit so they are being proactive.
  13. A. I hope Tony is getting killed in St. Louis today for walking an unproven young player for a 40 homer / 100 rbi man who hits 50 points higher against lefties. Let's hope coming through there (and the 2-out ribbie earlier) will re-ignite Dunn. That intentional walk better have ticked him off. B. Scott Rolen is a class guy. To step out and let Freel soak up the standing ovation when his team is robbed of a couple of runs is a good move. I have always liked Rolen and that cemented it right there. C. How bad is Marquis going? The Cards are actually thinking of putting Mulder (when he returns from the DL) back in the rotaion in Jason's spot -- not Weaver's. Ouch. D. Umm, Kearns doesn't make that catch. E. Aurilia is starting to swing the bat after his mini-funk. "The Baseball Guy" is going to have a tough time finding AB's for E-5, Rich, BP, and Hatte. Someone has to sit every night. To be honest, I'd play Hatte nearly every day, same for BP, but then that really limits Rich and Eddie. F. I have never been the biggest Freel fan in the world, and still don't think he'll avoid the DL down the stretch if asked to play every day, but last night was about as good a game as I've seen a guy have. Hats off Ryan.
  14. I believe they are speaking of programs, not individual teams. I think the 'Rocks have won one or two over the years.
  15. I guess my former avatar will get the blame for this? I didn't hurt Lohse any on Sunday, huh?
  16. Does Bowden have a shred of integrity left? Is there anyone in baseball that takes that guy seriously? Does he have a prayer of keeping that job for next year?
  17. Freel and Dunn both smoked balls in the first inning, I truly believe if those find ground it's a new game. However, I agree with Milford that Dunn needs to re-warm-up (is that a word?) and Griffey needs to continue to ramp up his production (which he is). Aurilia is going to find it hard to get AB's down the stretch if E-5 keeps mashing like he is. That, combined with the fact that Rich looked anemic in the last series.
  18. Glen Este lost a ton from last year and are probably more of a 5 or 6 win team this year. Nonetheless, from a physicality stand-point, it should be a good pre-season test for the Colonels.
  19. The Reds cost themselves 5,000 a night in walk up patrons with last night's performance. That is the 2nd game that I have REALLY looked forward to in the last 9 months. The first one ended up with Carson on a stretcher, the 2nd ended up with me watching "Country Fried Home Videos" on CMT. Awful.
