Lloyd must do something about all the bone-headed coaching decisions which have cost the Juggs multiple times throughout the season. Although others have mentioned this it is worth repeating: 1. You cannot let quality opponents start every drive at midfield. 2. When having obvious success running out of the spread with a lead simply keep running because your opponent not only is battling the scoreboard, but also the clock. 3. Find a kicker. There are like 84 boys on Lloyds roster, one of them surely can consistently make extra points. Find him fast because trading six points for 7 will never work. 4. Stick with one QB. Fann played outstanding for most of the game and he was able to find a rhythem because the constant in-and-out each series finally ceased and he was able to relax so to speak, and play. I put the int squarely on the coaches and do not hold that against the QB. As for NCC all I can say is wow. To have that many penalties, missed kicks, and two dropped TDs and still find a way to win is quite impressive. NCC could have pulled away by three scores but kept making mental miscues. I am a casual NCC observer so this could be off base, but the undisciplined play seems very uncharacteristic for the Breds and if they do not fix it quick it will cost them in the playoffs. I am sure we will get a rematch between these two programs in the playoffs and it will be a dandy of a game.

Will the Juggs keep rotating QBs in this game or will they stick with one?

I take it you were referringto mme since I listed 9 players. 6 of the 9 play a lot and some of them both ways, as for Mason, Burgheim, and Williams they have played specual teams all season. So to say I dont know the Juggs roster is not accurate. Dawson was the player I could not think of that is why I listed 9. My post was not meant to disrespect anyboby or any player. The point I was trying to make was that the Juggs should learn from the NCC playoff loss from last year and put speed and experience on the field so the Juggs dont get burned by any fake punts again. Also, Dancer11, I agree with your take that its a team sport and it comes down to all the players executing and not just an individual.

Holy Cross Campbell Co Dixie Walton Verona Bishop Brossart I am really impressed with the season BB is having especially considering their program was on the brink of collapse not long ago. Boone could probably beat BB, but it seems fair the give the Mustangs some respect for their great run so far this season.

Mex, I stand corrected, thought the Juggs won twice in 91', reg season then playoffs and then reg season 92. Thanks for the clarification. That 1A district of the early 90's produced great games between NCC,Bw, Bellvue, and Lloyd.

I totally agree JuggAlum and your take is right on the money. It is apparent that the Juggs have a huge mental barrier to overcome when it comes to football games against NCC and BW. Back in my day we were in 1A and we beat NCC a couple years in a row, but everytime we played BW we beat ourselves as much as the Tigers did. Granted those BW teams of 91, 92, and 93 were arguably the best in the state, but still the mental aspect cannot be overlooked. They simply were able to get into the players heads and we always seemed to freeze because BW was so good at running to counter and Burger and Wilmhoff were tough, tough runners. IMO if Lloyd gets that initial 2A win against NCC it can do wonders for their confidence and that could really help the team to truly believe that they can line up with anybody the rest of the way and come out victorious.

JuggAlum, from what I gather not too much practice time is spent on special teams, although I could very well be wrong. I keep remembering last year in the playoffs and Lloyd had I believe a 10 pt lead in the third quarter and the Juggs held NCC to 4th and 17 from their own 32 (?) and the Breds pulled of the fake punt for like 24 yards. I remember the punt return team was comprised of about 7 or 8 backups who did not get much playing time, and NCC did an outstanding job of recognizing and exploiting this fact. That play completely swung the momentum back to the Breds and the Juggs never recovered. If it were up to me on every punt play Lloyd would make sure that Runion, Creech, Hatton, Townsend, Lunsford, Gaines,Amadou,Mason, Williams, and Burgheim (plus the punter/ or extra defender depending on punt type) are on the field. That way the Juggs would have multiple speed players, sure tacklers, and experience handling different situations on the field when needed most.. Like last season the team executed well on offense and for the most part on defense, but outside of Sergio's kicking special teams was a real weakness. This season I see it as a bigger hinderance. If they do not get enough practice time to shore this area up then IMO it becomes even more important to put speed and experience on the field. I get the majority of the players I mentioned play both ways and fatigue becomes a big factor late in games, but in a game against an opponent of NCC's caliber you have to do everything possible to fortify the areas in which your most vulnerable. Limiting the big returns and stopping any fakes by NCC is going to be important if Lloyd is going to take that next step and get the win against the Breds. This is of course on top of not turning the ball over, avoiding penalties, and solid tackling by the Juggs.

Lloyd has absolutely no kicking game whatsoever and this is cause for concern because field position as well as points will be at a premium in this contest. I give NCC a huge advantage pertaining to overall special teams play. This game could easily be decided by speciak teams.

Again, great job with the rankings. The only thought I have is that it is too early to rank Lloyd ahead of NCC. IMO, the Juggs have to beat the Breds in 2A district play (finally) before they can be ranked higher. Yes, I am a Lloyd supporter, but a little anxious with anticipation for this weeks match up.

Both teams tend to slip into mistake and penalty ridden periods of time in nearly every game they have played thus far this season which indicates a lack of discipline. IMO this Juggs team finally has a roster of talent that is on par with NCC. However, Jacob Smith is hands-down the most talented player between both teams with Charles Gaines a distant second. I have witnessed Smith take over and dominate games, whereas Gaines is a great wr and athlete , but lacks the breakaway speed of a J. Smith. Smith is the key to this game. If Lloyd can contain Smith ( keep him under 150 yards and 2 scores ) then they got a great shot of finally beating NCC in 2A district play. I think Lloyd finally gets the win in a very good game 26-24.

Great job overall with the rankings. However, I am curious as to why Highlands is top 5? I could easily understand top 10 because of their strength of schedule, but it starting to look like the Bluebirds are sitting at five solely due to the power of their past (seasons) performances and name recognition. IMO any of the teams 6-10 COULD give the 2015 Birds a loss in head to head competition.

COV CATH by a lot. It would not be suprising to see this game end up on a running clock early in the 3rd quarter. The extremely tough non-district schedule for Cov Cath starts paying dividends now that district play starts.

The Juggs played a tough hard-fought game last week versus conner that ended in a loss for Lloyd on a fluke play at the tail end of the fourth quarter which left the Juggs a little salty. Through in the memory of Newport's absolute beat-down of Lloyd last season and you have got a recipe for peak motivation. Even if the turnover and penalty ridden Juggs make an appearance Newport simply does not have the talent this season to keep up with Lloyd. If the "good" Juggs show Friday I look for a 49-14 Lloyd victory, but if the "bad" Juggs come out to play and Newport plays well the Juggs still win in a closer game 28-14.

I know Turner and Fields is out. I heard Wallace has not practiced this week, and from what I understand Coach has a no practice Tues-weds (O/D install days) no play. Perhaps its bad info, but heard from a few sources that Bruener is pretty banged up and may be limited.

I just heard that Lloyd could be down 3 starting lineman with a 4th very limited. IMO this is a huge blow for the Juggs because the team has relied upon these young men to play on both the offensive/defensive lines. I get that injuries are a part of the game and teams must have the next man up philosophy, but is this too much to overcome? I admit that concern is starting to creep into my thought process regarding this game. Conner appears to be relatively healthy and I heard their starting center is going to be back this week.

If Garrard Co had even an average passing offense they would be a dynamic team. I admit I do not know much about class 3A besides GC, Belfry, Boyle, and Lex Cath. Do the other teams in 3a have the sheer size and strength across the board as GC? I mean it has been a long time since I have seen a roster with so many big boys. I get it, size is not everything, but man, these boys are scary big. The fact they have a pretty good team despite being one dimensional on offense makes me wonder if they can make a deep playoff run.

Imo as good as any Conner may be none of them have the talent of Charles Gaines. Now does conner have 4 or 5 players that are as talented as L. Townsend or Runion?

Just curious as to why Murray is ranked 6th, is it personal opinion of the author, or is it formula based? Looking at Murray's schedule and results I would put them at #8 with NCC 6 and Lloyd 7. I admit I have not witnessed Murray in live action , but I have been told Murray has a Defense that on any given night can be very tough. I suppose these rankings are just a way to get lively debates going and the playoffs will be the ultimate decider.

I know this has no bearing on this game, but I would love to see schools like Conner play Garrard County. Those boys, or rather men are HUGE, and quite a few of them are suprisingly athletic. If GC was not so one dimensional they would be top 4 in 3A.They had an off night and the Juggs were firing on all cylinders. Lloyd is better than people give them credit, but looking at Conner on film tells me that they are too balanced on offense for the Juggs average at best defense. Lloyd will have to light up the score board Friday to get the win, and with all the emotion surrounding the team this week anything can happen. Here is to a clean, fair, injury-free, and competitive contest between these two schools whose programs are definitely trending upward.

IMO, from a Lloyd perspective this game will come down to which Juggs team shows up next Friday. If the Juggs that took Garrard Co to the shed last Friday show up it will be a close game with the Juggs getting a tough win. However, if the mistake and penalty marred imploding Juggs come to play then the Cougars could win by 3 TDs. Conner has improved each week of the season and are a 6A school (voluntarily playing up notwithstanding ) that has a nice mix of upper and lower classmen. Will the Cougars be at full strength? I have heard the Juggs may be missing a couple of starting lineman, but other than that they are pretty healthy 6 weeks into the season. My gut says Lloyd has matured enough to give Conner a real competitive game. Call me a Homer, but I will take the Juggs 26- 21 over the Cougars.
