With the resurgence of the Lloyd football program over the past 3 or 4 seasons, coming into the NewCath game, many have said this is the year the Juggs get the better of the Breds on the scoreboard. However, each of the past 3 seasons the Breds have denied the Juggs that prize.

In 2012 Lloyd (6-1) lost to NewCath (2-4) 63-22.

In 2013 Lloyd (4-2) lost to NewCath (1-4) 22-7.

In 2014 Lloyd (4-0) lost to NewCath (0-4) 28-0.

Coming into Friday's match-up at Newport Stadium, Lloyd sits at a 5-2 record, while NewCath is 3-4.

Also, keep in mind, NewCath as NOT lost a 2A district game, 29-0, since the move to 2A in 2007.

Is this the year the Juggs accomplish two things in one game?

I think this is going to be a VERY, VERY close game, that could go either way.

If NCC played Lloyd's schedule they would be 5-2 like the Juggs most likely. If Lloyd played NCC's schedule they would likely be 3-4 just like NCC so records do not mean anything.

The common opponent Conner does not really help either. NCC outgained Conner and dominated the second half but still lost due to stupid penalties and a dreadful first half on both offense and defense. Lloyd played Conner in a downpour which severely limited both offenses.

So we really do not have anything to go on which is strange for a game between district foes this late in the season.

I believe Jacob Smith has 647 yards 8 tds rushing for NewCath.

I'd say if the Breds want to win this game they have to get rid of the stupid penalties. I'm hopeful the Breds pull this one off, but it will come down to penalties.

They only lost to a 2A team in 2011 right? The year Holy Cross won it.

That was during the playoffs. NCC beat them in the regular season during district play. So NCC has never lost to any 2A team during the regular season district play.

Lawnboy13 my ole friend thanks for your comments. Lloyd has a lot of good talent and athletes on this team. Yes I would love to see them play without all the penalties and this team put one whole game together without penalties and mistakes like you want to see in NewCath. I feel this game will go down as a classic this year the team with fewer penalties and mistakes comes out on top. Duh that would happen every week if that happens these are young men and it depends on which group shows up for the Jugg's Friday night. Wish them the best and get the jinks off their backs. Go Jugg's and everyone both sides stay healthy. JD

I'm a Juggs fan, but cant say they are going to win this game. Hope that they prove me wrong. NewCath 28 - Lloyd 21

Both teams tend to slip into mistake and penalty ridden periods of time in nearly every game they have played thus far this season which indicates a lack of discipline. IMO this Juggs team finally has a roster of talent that is on par with NCC. However, Jacob Smith is hands-down the most talented player between both teams with Charles Gaines a distant second. I have witnessed Smith take over and dominate games, whereas Gaines is a great wr and athlete , but lacks the breakaway speed of a J. Smith.

Smith is the key to this game. If Lloyd can contain Smith ( keep him under 150 yards and 2 scores ) then they got a great shot of finally beating NCC in 2A district play. I think Lloyd finally gets the win in a very good game 26-24.

I think Lloyd has some really impressive skill kids, but their line and play calling doesn't showcase how good they really are. NCC has advantage in the trenches and that is where games are won. I think this will be a close game much like the Holy Cross/NCC game last week. I think all 3 of these teams are pretty even. Lloyd could definitely win this game if they hit some big plays and limit Smith to big plays. That being said, NCC is top dog until somebody proves it. NCC wins 28-21........but I would love to be wrong here

If NCC continues to commit a lot of penalties, it will be a close game. If they fix that issue this week, Breds should roll.

I watched BW vs Lloyd, and I watched NCC vs HC. Lloyd is better. If they take care of the ball they win this game. They were playing with BW until 2 pick 6s in last couple minutes of first half.
