I had the opportunity to witness Scott in action, once in their scrimmage against a decent Lloyd team, and against 6a state runner up Dixie. I realize DH is not near the class of team as last season, and I watched via video my friend had, but the fact remains Scott is a good team that should make some real noise in ky 4a this season.

I'd like to see Lloyd in the top ten, but until they display defensive discipline they are IMO in the 11 to 15 range.

Typically speaking most NKY football programs which have youth camps are run by the respective school's coaching staff and team members generally help out. The team participation varies from school to school, but at minimum a handful of team members lend a hand. The youth camps generally occur before the dead period. My neighbors fourth grade son went to the Lloyd youth camp and it was 2 weeks ago approximately.

That east td right before the half was amazing. I dont know what it would be called exactly, but it appeared to be a double reverse- qb option-esque pass from price to zaja. It was the highlight of the game.

Couple of questions. 1. Is the East/West All Star game only for players that just finished their senior years? 2. Where can I find the rosters for this years game? Any help in finding the answers to my questions would be appreciate

The reason for Tichenor moving divisions (first small school, then large school, and now middle school division ) from what I understand the moves happened for a few reasons. First the number of boys coming out for the team kept growing each school year. Second, the Trojans pretty much dominated their opponents and playing in the larger division created more of a competitive balance. However, the school board requested the team move down to the middle division and I have heard some people speculate that part of the resson for the move is that the team is looking for a new head coach. The Tichenor program has been outstanding in its 5 years of existence with only 2 losses in their history.

NCC and Woodland should both be very good this year and once again Tichenor will field a formidable squad. I am not really up on the Boone County middle schools, but I heard Walton is gonna be fun to watch.

In response to lamontab, IMO you have to throw in the three-headed monster at Lloyd (Durham, Lunsford, and Townsend ). Granted Townsend may primarily play wr this upcoming season, but a combination of Durham and Lunsford make a very strong rb tandem. Also from what I have witnessed Harris at NCC is a good compliment to Smith making them another solid tandem of rbs. I agree with the take many others offer that the rbs in NKY are very deep and talented accross the board. This should help make for some very exciting action over the course of the 2015 hs football season.

I am looking forward to Garrard County traveling to NKY to take on Lloyd Memorial. Although these two schools are from different classes I fully expect a competitive and exciting game. Both teams run the ball effectively and have exciting running backs. IMO this game will be much closer than many prognosticators will probably speculate. If this game is a good as I think it will it could lead to a regular contest between the two schools. We shall see...

I think the Scott gane is actually considered a scrimmage because Lloyd closes out the season against Harrison County. I think teams are not allowed to play district opponents on the last week of the regular season.

Lloyd had a nice 2014 season, but the cupcake schedule finally caught up with the Juggs when they played Newport and NCC. This season Lloyd plays a more difficult schedule facing Beachwood, Conner, Walton - Verona, Holmes, Garrard County, HC, Newport, NCC, and I cant remember the last opponents. Playing better competition can help a team in many ways. Turning to Defense. Last year LMHS played a 3-3-5 stack and their pass defense was much maligned. Will they stay with the same base or will they move to a 4-3 defense? The defense must improve in order for them to legitimately challenge NCC for the district crown. The Defense features a monster NT in Bruener and a hard hitting LB in Hatton. It will be interesting to see how the D responds in 2015. This team has some questions on Offense which must be answered. Do the Juggs keep the I as the base offense, or do they go with the option? Spread? Zone read? Figuring out the best O to go with this team's considerable talent is crucial. The next big question is who replaces the effective Molitor at Qb? Is it Runion?Gaines?Townsend? Or someone else. How the qb situation plays out will be intriguing. The O-line is big and physical anchored by seniors to be Fields at Tackle, and J. Turner at Center. Again, this team is loaded with talent at the skill positions. Durham and Lunsford are exceptional at RB(plus Creech is a bruiser), the WRs Gaines and Townsend are dynamic, and the TEs Willett and Bruener are poised for big years. Finding the best offense for their talent will be huge in 2015. Special teams is a big question mark. The graduation of the great P/K Gutierez leaves a large void. Who fills it? The kick, and especially the punt coverage must improve to keep STs from being a liability. I like this team and think with the talent on the Juggs roster that they could make a run at district, but they could still be one year away. Dont get me wrong, this team will be good, but the 2016 team will really be a Juggernaut.

I think it comes down to who plays qb. IMO if it is Runion he will have a bunch of rushing attempts (he is a very good athlete ), and that will cut into Durhams carries. Throw Lunsford into the backfield mix and Chreech as well as the jet sweeps (against undisciplined defenses) to Townsend then it seems likely that Durham will see a decrease in carries. However, if Gaines or someone else plays Qb then the other guys will get touches, but Durham's number of carries will probably stay roughly the same. I have watched him play since middle school and I think Durham is underrated, which is understandable when you look at all of the good to great rbs in nky and the fact that Lloyd is not a traditional football power.

Thanks nkypete. I went back and read the mentioned posts. I failed to initially catch the qualifier "may" in the initial post on the subject of HC rbs. Sounds like the Holy Cross football team will have a tough two headed monster at rb this upcoming season.

I had heard that the Juggs are considering the triple option with Runion at Qb, Durham and Lunsford at rb. The wrs probably will feature L. Townsend and C. Gaines with Bruener or Willett at te. Like I said the whole option offense maybe rumor and they stick with the power i, or run the zone read with Gaines at qb. Who knows. I have not seen this much talent actually stay at Lloyd since the early 1990s. Sorry if anyone is offended by me posting about the 2015 juggs on a rb thread, but I noticed uk fan mentioning Lloyd and I have not come accross any threads about the team.

Justin durham was the workhorse in lloyd's backfield in 2014.

Why is this? Is something up with X. Abernathy? Ive seen this young man play 4 times the past few years, and Iam not affiliated in any way with H.C. and IMO Xavier is a beast at rb. Never seen Barnes play, so if he is the "go to" rb for H.C. in 2015 he must be a special player.

Lawboy just want to throw out the fact that the 2014-2015 Lloyd football team had some very nice players that were seniors, but that senior class had the smallest number of players when compared to grades 11,10, and nine. The sophmore class had the highest number of players on the team and many of these young men are starters, especially at the skill positions. None of this matters of course until Lloyd can finally beat New Cath, which is difficult for many teams.

That would ve nice to see. Coach Eric Turner has done an excellent job in his two years at Lloyd Memorial. However, the Juggs' success in 2015 will depend greatly upon the development and production of the qb who fills the shoes of the graduated Molitor and the improvement of a much maligned pass defense. Lloyd did manage to improve their non-district scheduled which was desperately needed.

I doubt he would go back to Boone. Turner is loved by Lloyd high school and the Erlanger community. He is building a solid program which is aided by a tremendous feeder program at Tichenor middle school. Keeping the talent in the district is always a challenge. From what I here he's got almost 70 kids for the 2015 team. The 2014 team had around 53, and like 46 in 2013. Kids absolutely love playing for this coach.

I would have to disagree with Streetglide. I am curious as to what your basis was for stating class 2a was weakest overall? It seems many people think that 3a was the worst class in ky hs football in 2014. The bottom of 2a is weak granted, but man is the top loaded, and the middle of the class is ripe with parity.

In response to Mayfieldfan, I simply do not see MF beating Highlands, which is now back to 5a. If your post was from the perspective of pre realignment, then I would omit HHS and say they would not beat Bowling Green. MF is an oustanding team with a solid program, but to think they would beat the best of 5a is unrealistic. MF moving to 2a in 2015 makes to 2a absolutely loaded at the top end of the class. 2a football in Ky should be very interesting, or even more interesting these next few seasons. IMO MF moving up one class has made it easier for Beachwood to get another state title.
