Trust me administration will not help in anyway. Corrupt, righteous or divine. Heck they cut off the TN pipeline a few years ago with a 3k tuition rate. Last year they kept 3 kids from coming from Middlesboro. They don't want to make anybody mad because of a reciprocal agreement they have in place with Mboro. They don't care about athletics and Bell has been successful in spite of them. BTW I have heard McPeek said thanks but no thanks! Not sure where they turn now.

He is the HC of the KY team @ the border bowl next week. I suspect more will be learned after it is over.

It really all depends on tendencies. Every team is different. Do they run to WS or B? Do they run strong weak or strong? Also is it formation specific. Every team has their tales you just have to know how to read them and use them.

On defense we make adjustment sometimes play to the next play with calls. Been lucky for a longtime with some really educated football players that understand the game. Adjustments come easy with kids that study the game. Offense typically has to happen between series and big changes at halftime. This day and age of uptempo football it is important for your big guys to play only 1 way. Games are longer because they play more plays.

Yea I know the origins kinda like the story of the zone read. FB is usually a true read.

I really like this thread. Ideas about good football vary greatly between regions and even coaches. The important thing to remember is it sound and can the kids understand it and then execute it. Estill is strangest. QB becomes a lead blocker 90% of the time. It has some similarities to the wing-t and single wing. Very easy to diagnose but can be tough to stop. Lots of bodies at the point of attack.

That may have happened in bourbon but not in Bell Co lately. The assistant coaches are making same amount they made in the mid 80's. It is amazing anyone coached, luckily we had dedicated people. With the rumored hire of a coach for political reasons those guys will not coach anymore. They are all more qualified than the "consolidation" pick.

Pineville will ever allow that to happen. To answer the question if Bell is still an elite job? The an answer is no. Numbers are down bc of population shift, pay is terrible esp for asst coaches and no support from administration.

Pike central = Kentucky under Hal Mumme. Keep in mind I have only saw PCC 1 time and that was this year. Seemed like they had very little interest in playing defense. Let you score to get the ball back.

Starting to round into shape. Only 3 kids on defense playing the same position as last year has took some time. QB play is getting better with every game as well!!

Lots of respect from the folks in Bell county for the Rebels. It will be interesting to see the 2 former Bell co residences play against their old friends from back home. Should be a good game with a great atmosphere. I hope both teams stay healthy.

As expected. The Bobcats were too big and strong. Nice way to kick off the new field!!

They played 2 15 minute halves. Harlan's varsity score came after a turnover with a few subs in the game for Bell. I think Bell will be fine. Woolum has actually lost a few LB's since last year but I guess it is hard to see with tinted glasses?

Bell vs. Mboro will be the first game on the new field. It should be fun.

Should be the favorite but not by a huge margin. Corbin lost 20+ seniors. Bell returns nearly the entire offense and 5 starters with some others that played a lot on defense. M'boro is starting over after losing a senior class of 20+ players themselves. It will be a uphill struggle with only 2 players that started 5+ games last year. Very small jr. And sr. Classes. Many freshman and sophomore's will be playing their first varsity snaps this year.

QB for Clay was a soph, 15 was starter last year but he didn't play in grid. He did warm and looked healthy but 9 took all the first team snaps.
