Bell County Looks To Hire Nathan McPeek

Featured Replies

Are the two entities officially talking?

McPeek a good match for Bell County?

Is McPeek's role in the Fairview debacle a concern? ...should it be?

I don't think it matters who takes the job. It will be hard for anyone to win without any help. Whomever they hire they don't have any of the former assistants that will be coaching. In the paper the other day the Super said they will be cutting around a million dollars out of the budget not good for a new coach to come into.

They will get players and help if he comes.......

I don't think so. There won't be any jobs for the assistants.

I know what you are saying, I've tried to keep up with that mess down there and your post on the matter.

I'm just saying if he takes it, he ain't taking it to lose and not have help. He will not take that job unless Bell Co. is willing to support it.

He probably will not take it then.

It is pretty bad here. The support is out the window and there isn't any quality coaches a that are willing to help. All of the former assistants were fired and it is my understanding that none of them will be returning to the sidelines.

Seems to me like Bell County needs a fresh start with a young, charismatic coach.

I have nothing against Coach McPeek but I do not believe he is the right coach for a cluster storm.

However, I suppose it all depends on the current political regime at Bell County. Are they corrupt or are they righteous? If they are righteous then maybe on Coach McPeek, but if they are corrupt then no way.

He might be though. You never know.

To play Devil's Advocate you could argue Fairview's administration was pretty corrupt and McPeek proved to be a winning fit in his time.

Now those wins may not matter or even be found in the record books...but as long as the KHSAA doesn't come calling corruption may not be a bad thing based on McPeek's past.

He might be though. You never know.

Agree, but I think it depends more on Bell County than Coach McPeek.

If Bell County wants to run a honorable program then I think all things considered McPeek may be a good fit. However, if Bell is desperate to win and gives the coach free reign with no oversight then I think McPeek is a bad fit.

I hope everyone is following my logic.

I know when admin changes so do school philosophies change. I just hope they give him a chance

I don't think he will be the next head coach.

I think Bell is a tough row to hoe right now. Many will want to live in the glory days without admitting it's just not what it used to be in so many aspects in the community, school, climate, culture..etc. I don't care who they hire, it's going to be tough to meet the expectations of many living in the past. Just my humble opinion.

You are correct.

Trust me administration will not help in anyway. Corrupt, righteous or divine. Heck they cut off the TN pipeline a few years ago with a 3k tuition rate. Last year they kept 3 kids from coming from Middlesboro. They don't want to make anybody mad because of a reciprocal agreement they have in place with Mboro. They don't care about athletics and Bell has been successful in spite of them.

BTW I have heard McPeek said thanks but no thanks! Not sure where they turn now.
