Just a pure hypothetical here, but if they hire just some random coach that no one knows and really doesn't have the resume to be an HC, what does that say about the program? Names like McPeek have at least won and been successful.

 

If Bell just picks somebody who makes everyone scratch their heads over, what will that mean? Is there a possibility that they are then on their death bed as a program? Not saying there couldn't be success, but if they make a bad hire, that might be pretty much it. Could easily just go to be a doormat of the mountains.

 

I'm interested in this hire, probably more than any of the other currently open jobs. And I have absolutely no dog in this fight at all. Just beyond interested in what is going to happen on Log Mountain.

If the administration does not get behind the new hire he will not be successful. I know things have gotten tougher down there and it does have a effect on everything. However, the superintendent does have a boss it's called the school board. Now if the parents cannot get the school board members to get on board and have some influence on the administration then.......good luck.

3 of the members are puppets, next election they will be fired by the public just like the last too.

A program the caliber of Bell County does NOT need the drama of the Fairview scandal or the other goings on that comes with Nathan McPeek. All I will say on the subject.

Bell would be lucky to get the caliber of coach Nathan McPeek is. lioneagle it's fine to have an opinion but to defame character is crossing the line.

I really hate to see this program going through this. When I was the head coach at Bullitt East and played them in the state championship I would have never guessed this program would go through this kind of turmoil. I have been going to camp since 1993 with Bell under Dudley's leadership and when Tommy was the head man. I have always admired their kids and coaches and supporters. I hope things are repaired soon. I would like to add that I have always observed Wayne Mills as a guy who loved his players as well as the assistants and head coaches I was lucky enough to develop friendships with over the years. I still wish we had gotten that 2 point conversion in '08. It was a great game. Good luck Bobcats.

Mcpeek was offered the job but not sure if he has accepted it or not. I'm hearing Bell did some major background checks on the Fairview stuff and they received the answers they were looking for before they offered the position. I heard the KHSAA and others involved gave mcpeek a very good report. Whether Mcpeek takes the position or not that is what I've heard about the current situation. Bell is a rich tradition based school in football but areas like Bell County are really suffering with the current status of coal/railroad.

Everyone can have opinion of the so called baggage but personally I would hire him today because he cares about the kids and he knows how to be successful. As I stated from what I've heard many people have looked into this baggage and satisfied with what answers they received.

I understand what you are saying. But too much baggage our Super got rid of Coach Mills because of minor issues and McPeek has had a major issues makes no sense to me. If he takes the job he won't be here long.
