St. Xavier Tigers - 2016 Grade
Ham Bone replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
I'd go with a B+ Record indicates a B at best but considering how much the program momentum was shifting, Wolford did an outstanding job beating who they were supposed to even handling Male TWICE. The D1 sr qb did his thing and they had an all around good team. The JV and frosh were undefeated so maybe there's some continuity ready for next season. Watching a number of their games, they still didn't have a true identify. They passed when they had to or the when defense dared them. With Ridder gone moving forward, do they have another player to run the option so fluidly? -
6A A few years ago Male beat T for regional and had to travel to Central Hardin for the semi final blowout. This year I imagine the winner of X and Male will play T in Lexington.

KHSAA Football Finals Moved to UK for 2017 & 2018

Good move. Correct me if I'm wrong but 6A might be Trinity vs. Male/St.X at Kroger? -
Trinity should remain the cream of the crop. T, Male and X all have to season a new quarterback this offseason. As mentioned, these teams reload. Manual lost a ton but have a bunch of the Newburg Tiger middle school state champs coming in. A lot of talent but will be really young. Can't imagine the Crimsons rely heavily on freshmen. Waggener and Doss are the most talented teams not in 6-A. Don't sleep on PRP or Central in their respective districts.

Now 7 JCPS Head Coach Openings (Updated)
Ham Bone replied to Pete W's topic in KY Football (High School)
Male is currently in the old Durrett High School, the Bulldogs are not at a new campus. The current state of facilities borders gross negligence. Locker rooms, press boxes, fields, weight rooms, etc. are terrible county wide. There's always a strategic plan to do anything. There have been rumors in the past that Male and Manual have alumni willing to pay for turf fields and the district blocks every attempt. -
Now 7 JCPS Head Coach Openings (Updated)
Ham Bone replied to Pete W's topic in KY Football (High School)
Gotta wonder if these guys keeping their teaching jobs get over staffed in the process of hiring replacements... There have been times in the past where a new coach can be hired and because they're a head coach of a varsity sport another teacher will get pushed out to make room for the incoming coach/teacher. -
2016 KYMSFA State Championship Playoff Brackets
Ham Bone replied to plantmanky's topic in Middle School Sports
Coach Bross coaches at Barret and his son plays for Male. None of the Newburg players will get in Male. Seneca better hope Manual or Fern Creek doesn't poach the kids. -
Great post!

There are only 3 traditional middle schools out of 20+ in the district. The rise of Male has very little to do with the city's best showing favor and more to do with better coaching at one of the two traditional high schools.

X is going to give a great game early but in the end they have zero answers for Male's passing attack. Can the Bulldogs slow down the X running game? We shall see. Rider is an excellent qb and adds another dimension with the read. The Tigers have to show they can get the ball down field or Wolfe will load the box and plug every hole. Male finds their offensive rhythm and has another second half like they did against PRP. X 17 H 41

DuPont Manual/St.Xavier Predictions
Ham Bone replied to LVGambla32's topic in KY Football (High School)
X will find a way to win the game. Manual will also struggle to score therefore I give X an advantage -
T. J. Thomas-Male
-
All Male did was replace Wakefield and Z. Smith with B.K. Smith and Ethan Bibb. Bibb, a jr had 4 tds at Trinity and both have touchdowns on returns this year. Yes, I'm biased. The threat of one makes the other just as dangerous.

46-3 final.

Coming back to beat Male by 3 at home means to me that the Rocks are not indestructible. I'm going on record and voting for X in this matchup. If Ridder has time, there's no reason to believe the Tigers can't go over the top. The bottom line is always can you stop Trinity's run game. Hasn't been done yet but... T - 24 X - 28 This outcome gives everyone at the top something to look forward to come November.

Bluegrasspreps' Class 6A Rankings - Discussion (9-19)
Ham Bone replied to Ram's topic in KY Football (High School)
Trinity is definitely the top team with Male a close second. This season has shown the other teams are closing the gap. This is a great sign. District play is going to be interesting. A lot of potential postseason rematches already taking shape. -
I'm curious as to what you mean by "directed" to Waggener and Male?

I firmly believe that the change in the direction of this thread explains why you don't have a diverse community on this forum. Not that grown men can't disagree about kids playing a game, but some seem so determined to be right about moot points. I see why this forum loses quality posters from more programs. Ah well I guess it's just the way of people and their internet. Trinity has nothing to be ashamed of for having pride in their team's tradition. It is THE premier private school in this region IMVHO. Most people I encounter around the metro agree that Male is doing great things challenging Trinity Almighty. I guess Coach Wolfe and his staff are doing something right for having his team prepared to play a seemingly superior ball club. Blame the win or the loss on whatever. Conditioning, gassed players, preparation, scheme, it doesn't matter. How many times have these two teams played a ONE possession game?

Way to go Atherton! -
This was a huge test for both teams. T won and Male moves forward with obvious things to correct. Nothing wrong with that. The margin only matters here on a message board where 80% took T. I'm sure not many of those thought it would be this close

Another one possession game. This has become a very good rivalry for the state. Both teams exploited the other's weaknesses. Great game and best of luck to the young men going forward. Usually the home team is given 3 points and that's what happened here. Male is more than the 2016 class. Regardless of whether or not people believe, the team showed up!
