  1. All 5 district teams are in the state top ten. How far apart are these two teams? I expect X to handle this game early. Running clock.
  2. Prefer to have it open. This week Male plays Station at home Friday night. JCPS has no school Friday but Lexington does. Likely won't have much in attendance. Also, no school Monday and Tuesday with the biggest game vs. X on Friday.
  3. Very interested to see how Manual matches up with X. Seems like the top 4 are still 2-3 scores above the rest with T 3 scores better than them!
  4. Both teams have size and speed. I voted for PRP. If it comes down to big plays, PRP has Bishop.
  5. With all the other schools that utilized Manual Stadium for so many years it's a shame it wasn't switched to turf 20 years ago!
  6. You know there are over 20 football playing high schools and even more playing soccer? You read or hear about a few but there's clearly a haves and have nots in JCPS!
  7. Just mail the trophy to T every year. I'm kidding of course. I think there are different philosophies around Louisville and many around the state. 1)You are pro T and enjoy winning every year. (T alumni and general bandwagon fans as well as family of current and former players) 2)You're against T and wish they didn't play your school. (T's district opponents and 90% of khsaa) 3)You enjoy your chances to matchup against the premier football program in the state and have a reasonable to considerable shot at beating them any given year. (X and H) Most teams fold up before the opening kickoff. That's an indictment of the football culture of the state and individual programs. I think it's a good benchmark of where your program is. I'm glad Male kept T on the regular season schedule instead of dodging them until playoffs. The game was closer than the 22-0 score and I look forward to seeing the rematch regardless of the outcome. I know X is excited to knock off the Rocks.
  8. Great idea. Currently the largest stadiums in JCPS are Male and Manual. Both schools have alumni that want to add turf but for some reason (never got a clear answer) it still hasn't happpened. The cost of maintenance alone should convince the powers at be to look at alternatives. Facilities are terrible district wide. I'm sure they'll want to upgrade old school buildings before athletics. However, they did invest in Valley and that was dumb in my opinion. It is sooooo far from the rest of the other schools. Ballard or Eastern are are easy 45 minute drives.
  9. The state population just doesn't support 6 classes. Geography doesn't help as the bulk of the people live in a few areas. To me the issue is only a few teams out of the hundreds that play have a football program. Many have great teams in a given era that doesn't last long beyond a group of kids (3-6 years). If you're tired of the privates or independents dominating... get better! This is way easier said than done. If you separate publics then the same few public schools would continue to win. Nobody wants to see a team travel 2-3 hours for a blowout win or loss. The weaker team suffers demoralizing defeats that could prevent program growth. The stronger team risks injury to key players in meaningless action.
  10. Male has played far better competition. These teams usually play close in the first half. Male always pulls away late. Butler - 20 Male - 38
  11. Bulldogs are banged up. Depth really not what it has been the last few years. Around 70+ on the roster compared to 100 and injuries are taking a toll especially up front. I know that doesn't seem much and plenty of teams in 6A would love 70 guys but Male has been able to wear most teams down. This isn't the case this season. Western is gaining great experience playing the teams from a loaded Louisville 6A district. I hope the Bulldogs will take control of this game early and get some varsity experience for some of the younger guys. 28-6
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong... SK and T would meet in this year's semifinal correct?
  13. Pick 5 weeks tour the state. T & X H & M Louisville deserves game day for these two alone.
  14. Ballard plays like they did in first half last week they'll matchup with anybody. Herehey could easily start 0-3. The Bruins are better than that.
  15. These teams are trending in opposite directions. I'm taking Fern Creek. With Manual only fielding 44 varsity players, will there be JV and freshmen games between these teams this week?
  16. Fern Creek. Running clock. How long before these teams swap places in class?
  17. First I've seen of the team since the playoff loss to St. X. Appearances can be deceiving. I'm sure conditioning is just one of the things Coach Wolfe will address this week.
  18. There were a few rumbles in the stands about a few Sr. Bulldogs who lacked the appearance of being in great shape. Consistency at QB is a must. After having Mattingly and Shelton (6A POY and Mr. Football nominee) running the offense, inexperience is the biggest knock on Chesher who played behind Thomas last season.
  19. No excuses. Male got it handed to them by the Purples. There was no score on the board in this scrimmage. Purples varsity handled the Bulldogs early. Male had no idea how to defend BG quick passes. Male's running back looks very good and the offensive line settled down and helped move the ball. A couple of end zone throws could have evened the score but one was snatched out of the Male receivers hand. The other was picked off by the Male db but after a scrum, officials called it a BG touchdown. Both teams returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Once the JV took the field I truly felt like Male had the advantage and quickly scored two long touchdowns on screen passes. Depth may become a factor for both teams. Best of luck to both teams moving forward. I hope BG comes to Male next year for a scrimmage.

  21. A lot of unknowns for the Bulldogs. I'm interested to see the youth movement for Male. There are some studs in a thin senior class but I'd expect Wolfe and other coaches will have the younger guys play for some experience.
  22. Just heard from someone slated to teach in the building many academic areas are still under construction. She seemed very annoyed by the fact adding, "a science lab is more important than a weight room." My response was, "which is gonna be used first?" She changed the subject.
  23. In fairness to Southern, that may have been the best Trojan team in a long while. The Tigers deserve a B and look to build upon the school's athletic success with basketball. A strong showing this season and a lot of interest in the program. I think the culture has changed for the better. Looking more ominous than BG is the enrollment that might bring FC up to 6A soon. I wish they would have shown more against their city opponents. Question. With such a great rotc program at the school, why don't more of those guys play football? Just an outsider looking in. I would encourage as many of those boys to play!
