Exactly. Which is why I wasn't willing to overlook St Henry at the beginning of the season as many others were... Now we see, St Henry has the number one seed.

Just found out that Ludlow's Evan Slone has been invited by the Washington Nationals to tryout for their Area Code future prospect team. I'm pretty sure that Beechwood's Slusher and Stringer did this last season. Anyone know if any other kids in NKY have been invited to this? Sounds like a really cool event. I'd love to see several kids from this region get an invite, lots of young talent.

Good game... I heard that not only did Ludlow need to win, but needed to score 4 runs to get the #2 seed... Something to do with run differentials for tie breaker... Anyway, tourney should be #1 St Henry #2 Dixie #3 Ludlow #4 Lloyd

Ludlow has 4 kids that are tearing it up this season: Lyons batting .481 Durham batting .471 Slone batting .431 Eads batting .397 If the Panthers had deeper pitching, more consistent outfield play and more consistent hitting at the bottom of their batting order... They really could make some noise in the post season.

Ludlow beat Lloyd 9-3. Lyons got the complete game win... Slone went 3-4 again, I believe it's the 4th or 5th straight game where he's had at least 3 hits. So this means a 3-way tie in the 34th is quite possible. It all hinges on the Ludlow / St Henry match up, which is yet to be re-scheduled.

St Henry is in the driver's seat for sure after beating Dixie. Ludlow plays Lloyd today in a district seeding game. Since Ludlow lost to Dixie, it could theoretically end up in a 3-way tie for first in the 34th... Lloyd can knock Ludlow out of that scenario today though... Tight race as I expected all along.

I gotta think that Conner has a good shot in the 33rd... And in the 34th... Tight race for second spot. Ludlow, St. Henry and Lloyd are all fairly evenly matched squads. That will be a great district battle to keep an eye on.

Ludlow is 2 or 3 players and/or pitchers away from having a really special team. Unfortunately, it seems they always have to replace 2 or 3 seniors every year and haven't been deep enough (because of numbers) to overcome those losses in talent and leadership. Hopefully with Coach Gray in charge...more JV kids will develop into true Varsity level players as time goes on.

Awesome job Coach Scheid... First of many wins, because he will make sure his kids play the game the right way. When you know and execute the fundamentals...you'll find yourself with a chance to win more games than not.

I'll say this... And I've seen all of Ludlow's top pitchers the last few seasons... They have Lyons who I'm gonna guess tops out at 85-86 mph. They have Slone who probably tops out at 78-81 mph... And Eads prob tops out around 73 mph. I have seen the gun on all three players in the past, but not in recent weeks. That being said, Slone pitched the night before against St. Henry and Lyons through a complete game shut-out vs Holy Cross a couple days before that. So, not only was Eads due up in rotation, but he was the best match up IMO... Because it is harder for all good hitters these days to hit off speed and breaking stuff... And TC can throw knuckle balls for strikes, curves, change ups and moving (although not blazing) fast balls. A straight fast ball sitting 78 - 85 mph is batting practice for Combs and company just as it is for Ludlow's better hitters. Coach Gray made a great move there... I wasn't at the game, but heard that it was basically Ludlow's game just needing 2 outs before the wheels came off.

Coach Gray is outstanding... But as I mentioned earlier...he has 4 players that are way more talented than many people in this region realize. I think some people saw that tonight for sure.... The bummer for Ludlow is that 2 of those kids are seniors... Only Slone and Eads will be back next season. That being said, Coach Gray will for sure have developed more young talent that will contribute more next season and beyond.

Would love to hear some details on this one... We all know Beechwood is loaded with good, young talent... But I've been saying for awhile now, keep an eye on Slone, Lyons, Durham and Eads at Ludlow... All next level players IMO.

Heard Ludlow had a 5-2 lead going into Beechwood's last at bat... Talk about almost pulling off a huge upset. Hopefully the Panthers won't get too down on themselves.

I was impressed with the win, because Ludlow didn't have their A game going and still found a way to get it done. I can't remember the last time the beat St. Henry either. It's good to see the Panthers get over that mental hurdle. Also, kudos to St. Henry kids and coaches. They were down by 2 going into their last at bat and they found a way to score 3 runs to take the lead. Ludlow was able to get the win in their final at bat though... Great, entertaining ball game.

Hayes pitched against Beechwood tonight in the All A... So, doubt he'd be going again on Wednesday.

Could be Slone for Ludlow as Lyons pitch 7 innings yesterday... Sounds like Seiter still isn't cleared to pitch for Bellevue, so maybe Hayes? Haven't heard who might be available for Beechwood or St Henry...

Just heard more on this game and it sounds like it was an All-A Classic dogfight.... Both pitchers were obviously on top of their game. Evan Slone lead off the bottom of the 6th inning with a hit up the middle. The Panthers bunted him to second base and he took third base on a wild pitch. The "pick off" play was actually at this point of the game at third base. Ludlow coaches wanted a balk call and HC coaches wanted a pick-off call. Neither team got their wish from the umpires as no balk was called... And even though the ball beat the runner, it was ruled he avoided the tag. Then, Lyons helped his own cause with a base hit that scored Slone for the game's only run. Sounds like a great battle between Seibert and Lyons... Wish I could have seen this one!
