Ludlow pitched Tyler Lyons who threw the complete game shut out. Holy Cross countered with Jared Seibert who struck out 9 and he also went the distance. Both teams finished the game with 3 hits a piece. The go ahead run scored in the bottle of the 6th after a questionable call on a pick off throw at first base.

Big win for Panthers! Nice job.

Just heard more on this game and it sounds like it was an All-A Classic dogfight....

Both pitchers were obviously on top of their game.

 

Evan Slone lead off the bottom of the 6th inning with a hit up the middle. The Panthers bunted him to second base and he took third base on a wild pitch.

The "pick off" play was actually at this point of the game at third base. Ludlow coaches wanted a balk call and HC coaches wanted a pick-off call. Neither team got their wish from the umpires as no balk was called... And even though the ball beat the runner, it was ruled he avoided the tag.

 

Then, Lyons helped his own cause with a base hit that scored Slone for the game's only run.

 

Sounds like a great battle between Seibert and Lyons... Wish I could have seen this one!

Great high school baseball game today. Tyler Lyons and Jared Seibert were sensational. Both teams bunted, gambled and had a couple scoring options. Great effort from both teams. You know if you beat a Pat Ryan coached team you had to have played well.

Who's still left in the All "A" after this one? Who will Ludlow play next?
