  1. Oops. He was originally going to Wake. That visit will come later. Miami this weekend is correct.
  2. Eli is taking his official visit to Wake Forest on Friday and Saturday.
  3. If true, that's an NCAA violation. Coaches cannot contact 2018 kids directly until June 15, 2016.
  4. So there was a proposal passed last year to allow camps at NCAA and NAIA institutions any time in August. This proposal is awaiting final approval which is expected this week. This would allow student athletes in Kentucky to attend college elite camps in August. This would not, however, allow student athletes to attend camps like the John Lucas camp because they are not sponsored by an NCAA or NAIA college or university.
  5. Eli won't be deciding anytime soon.
  6. Corbin and Hoop Dreams Guard Andrew Taylor has his first D1 offer from Stetson. I expect this to be the first of MANY.
  7. Travelers have a very tough draw for Super Showcase. King James All Stars and Atlanta XPress are two big name programs. Should be good games in Louisville this week.
  8. Lexington Future won 15u
  9. He was also offered by Pittsburgh Friday night. He scored 23 on top 10 2016 recruit Markelle Fultz yesterday in front of coaches from every basketball power in the country (including UK).
  10. Trace has moved on to Team Thad. Next Up Recruits tweeted it out a couple days ago.
  11. Have to go where the coaches are. With such a small, local field in the event, not many coaches are expected at The Summit.
  12. Jaylen Sebree is at CCHS now. He has not yet been ruled eligible.
  13. Hoop Dreams 17u Orange went 3-4 across Adidas Final and Battle of the Best Charlotte. Losses by 3 (buzzer beater), 4, 6 and 2 (in OT). Hoop Dreams 16u Orange went 7-1 across Elite 32 and Battle of the Best Charlotte. Beat #5 team in the country Atlanta XPress by 24. Hoop Dreams 15u Orange went 5-1 across Elite 32 and Battle of the Best Charlotte. Only had 6 players and the lone loss was to the eventual Charlotte champion on a crazy no look buzzer beater off one leg. Overall a good weekend. Eli Wright added 4 new offers and Trace Young picked up 3.
  14. AAU is the key. Play with a good program who promotes their kids and puts them in position to succeed.
  15. Per his twitter, Matt Miller of John Hardin is playing with the Travelers for July.
  16. The facts are that the young man was offered a scholarship in the 2018 recruiting class by the University of Toledo. Can he commit right now? Sure he could if he wanted to. Could he sign right now? No he could not. Could Toledo never speak to the kid again if they chose? Yes. Is that likely? No. Congrats to TC on earning the offer. I hope @Cardinals2745 doesn't hijack every thread about scholarship offers from now on.
  17. Correction. They must have an address in the district. I know of plenty of transfers over the years who got eligible using an address they didn't even live at.
  18. Been pretty quiet on the transfer front this year. If anyone has a 2017 post who needs a team, let me know!
  19. In the bylaw, it is stated that there was a certified weekend in late September that allows girls basketball players to play that weekend.
  20. I believe this but with that said why do they allow AAU tourneys in the spring and not give more kids a chance at baseball? Last year KBA held a tourney at the same time as the boys state tourney. I thought this was crazy and should never happen. How does KHSAA allow this? Similarly, Baseball plays fall ball all through the time that kids are not allowed to play basketball.
  21. It is not my intention to have kids going to camp every weekend or anything like that. Just be able to attend a camp if afforded the opportunity. Since the rule on open gyms changed about 5 years ago, kids are playing basically year round anyway. They play in open gym 3-5 times a week. I ended up losing my starting PG for a certified tournament in April because he rolled an ankle in open gym at his high school. A mentor of mine who has been coaching longer than I have been alive said the rule is in place to try and make more kids play football in the fall. Said the football coaches will never allow it to be changed.
  22. Basketball and football are the only 2 sports that this rule applies to. If a volleyball player wants to go play at an elite camp or anything like that, they can go any time they want before the season begins.
  23. If a player is caught participating in a camp after the first day of school, reported and found to be in violation of the rule, then they are subject to suspension from KHSAA games.
  24. The following is a portion of an email I sent to members of the KHSAA Board of Control and Commissioner Julian Tackett: "According to Bylaw 9-2, student athletes who play basketball are not allowed to attend any sort of camps or play games after their first day of school. I believe this rule hurts basketball players in our state and hinders their opportunities to earn athletic scholarships through attending college elite camps on campus as well as other basketball camps which are heavily scouted. In the past year alone, this bylaw has hurt student athletes by not allowing them to attend the John Lucas Elite camp in Louisville last August. This is a national camp attended by the best players from all around the country but Kentucky was not well represented at the event because of Bylaw 9. I personally coach young men who will miss out on potential scholarship opportunities in August because they cannot attend the college elite camps that they have been invited to. So my question would be, what is the reasoning behind the current rule of not being able to attend after the student athlete's first day of school?" I also proposed that the state follow a standard date of September 1st for a cut off date for camps. The answers I got from board of control members ranged from "I don't know. I'll bring it up at the next meeting." to "Kids transfer more if they go to camps." I'm interested to hear comments on this from the BGP folks. Fire away.
  25. I watched Rowan at KBA a couple weekends back. Larry Whelan is a good high school player and Sean Woods' son is going to be a really nice player.
