MY daughter ran track and XC…I remember the state championships for XC and ST X would have students (fans) running around crazy with huge flags - like it was the Super Bowl…it was interesting to see their exuberance!

X has their own club no one is in.

I’ve got to update the list based upon @Colonels_Wear_Blue’s data: ST X joined the club in 1974 - inaugural member of the 3x3x3 club Ashland joined the club in 2020 Owensboro joined the club in 2025 Male/Manual are not in the club as first thought - Male is missing the Baseball and Manual is missing the football. NOTE - St. Xavier actually has its OWN category - 4x4x4 (13 championships in football, 8 in baseball and 4 in basketball. Wow.

Good call - I think Woodford’s QB/RB and main WR are juniors this year but don’t know what else. 2-A Beechwood returns the QB, RB and I believe the speedster WR - they will be on top IMO unless I’m missing something. On Owensboro a lot returns, but they need some new O-lineman (4 were seniors) and Hampton’s are gone as is Muster at DT/RG, Conrad at OLB. Owensboro has G’way back at QB - who again is phenomenal and a speedster, all the WR group except Chadyn Morris - They return Dillard, Shemwell, Shemwell #2, Fountain, JB Bryant (really their top 5 WR’s because Morris was hurt a lot). TE Ty Ashley back. On Defense O loses 3 of 4 D-lineman but has Pullom coming back who has been great last 3 games. Both Safeties are back and Shemwell at Corner is Back. Kindle at OLB and D1 Ashley back at MLB. Running back will probably be by committee - Green (who had about 50 yards against Pulaski, Kindle, Basham, Waddie, and Freshman UA All-American Walker who is good sized and very fast. Skill positions off the chart speed everywhere. Owensboro will be in the mix for another with G’way and great skill players and speedy defense.

5A Owensboro, Woodford, Scott, Pulaski I’m sure Atherton and BG can finish up there too.

Hightower 202 carries for 1655 and 25 TD’s rushing, 8.2 yards per carry 13 catches for 159 and 0 TD’s 215 touches for 1804 yards and 25 TD’s Hampton 173 for 2,035 yards and 31 TD’s rushing, 11.8 yards per carry 19 catches for 288 yards and 3 TD’s 192 touches for 2,323 yards and 34 TD’s O swept the district with running clocks, beat Madisonville 61-7 in that game Hampton 3 TD’s on 9 touches and 168 yards…..Hightower had 48 yards rushing and 43 receiving and 0 TD’s. Owensboro won every 5A game this year. O beat down #1 Woodford, with Hampton going for over 300 yards on limited touches, 126 and 1 vs greenwood, and over 100 with 12 touches against Pulaski and 3 TDs. Let Owensboro to State Championship (which has always been a huge criteria for a deserving MR football) - first one in almost 40 years. In KHSAA record books - see post above and at RB U at Owensboro sits very high on the perch in the record books. 2024 D1 player of year, 2025 KY Gatorade Player of year (which are usually about 70% of the MR footballs), 5A state champ MVP. #2 rated player in state, by ESPN, #1 RB in state by Rivals and ESPN, top ranked recruit up for MR football. #27 RB in NATION. Hampton should win MR football going away IMO. I agree - HE is worthy of this award. 4-star recruits by rivals - ONLY Hampton, Strickland (OT Paducah) and Busch (LB at ST X) are the ONLY 4-star recruits in state.

Cal and X definitely humbles Owensboro early - O handled Mayfield easily (although Mayfield was missing qb) and played even with south warren…got a title cocky and brought down to earth….X game were were missing plenty and 2 transfers in. X dominated us and I think those 2 games made us refocus and ultimately ticked us off..…that propelled us IMO. Then we basically running clock everyone the rest of the year - Catholic avoided it due to TD called back on a terribly late holding penalty as Hampton walks in to end zone. So we are 5A champs…not best in state in the top 5-6 IMO. I’m ecstatic on how we finished and where we are headed. We are not cAL but would love to get there!

CAL can beat Trinity I’d say it’s 5 to 5 in a set to 10…play each other next year and let's find out!

@Devils Fan I think CAL is 14-21 points better than anyone not named Trinity on most nights. They play like they did vs BG and any of those top 5 can get them. If they are focused and know they are playing a top team it’s over. May not be running clock but a 14-21 point win.

I don’t think so - I think O would be competitive. But would lose. But what we do know is CAL won 35-0 the 2nd week - anything else is hypothetical. To me CAL could possibly be the best team in Ky.

I don’t think Ryle should be near that high. X definitely deserves top 5-6. I think Owensboro/ South Warren, X, Boyle are all right under CAL. I think all 4 would be evenly matched. X vs O now would be very competitive as would the other 2 teams. I’m just excited we won 5A but believe O is 3 to 6 and X is definitely in mix.

Saw this on 102.7 the game social media post. Baseball, Basketball and Football. 3 state championships in each sport: St. X Ashland Male Manual Owensboro Others? Side note- My grandad was a manual grad, my grandmother was a Male grad and I was Owensboro. Nice club Owensboro just joined.

Stats update - Jared peck of the herald leader called out the KHSAA stats on Hampton saying the rushing yards were 108. As I rewatched the game I thought the same. Final O stats were Hampton 11 carries for 108 and 3 and 1 reception for 8 more yards. O had 353 yards of offense and a 84 yard punt return. O reports Pulaski with 260 yards total with 202 coming rushing. 17 more yards rushing.
