Coach Fallin said “Hampton is as fast as any kid we’ve had here in a long time”. That is saying something at Owensboro.

Hampton is a sub 4.5 40 guy. Leads the state 5A in rushing TD’s at 24 despite not starting at RB first 4 or 5 games. Already committed to UK baseball as a sophomore. Almost every 5th carry has been a TD. Also leads team in receiving yards at 515 (he started there early season). But comparing him and a WR is not a fair comparison. Barber is electric - put 3 on O last game,

The Catholic squad is not cocky - they seem very respectful and sportmanlike. I doubt they would ever shoot their mouth off. Seem like humble young men, but focused young men. Atwell is a phenomenal QB, can run it or throw it on a dime. College size QB. Carrico boys are exceptional athletes. The older goes both ways and he's a beast at WR, as is a couple more of the young men (#2 Sims maybe), Ebelhar. WR core is exceptional. The younger Carrico is fast and intelligent player at the MLB position. I believe they are very well coached and they will be ready. Somerset is a great program and I know they will be ready as well. I think they will score. I think the ACES pull away in 2nd half. Best test for Ocath since the Owensboro game IMO. OCath 42 Somerset 21

I agree - I was just stating if those teams were playing up they could have won it. (I always thought HIghlands played up a level to stay with CC at one point).

Not to be a smart aleck, but Cov Cath or Highlands moving up. The CovCath team with Maher (sp?) or the Highlands teams of Derek Smith/Lorenzen or the Guiduigli/Rob Smith/Grover/Hamblen teams to me could have won 6A.

I rewatched the first game. Barber, Deuce…they did everything they wanted. BG defense wasn’t great but it did way more to stop Owensboro than vice versa. Both teams appear to be firing on all cylinders and have great speed. That said Bailey rarely makes a bad decision. A ton of TD’s vs a handful of interceptions. I think it’s going to be a great game. BG should rightly be favored. Head says BG by 14, heart Owensboro by 7.

I was gonna have that guy in bad shape - I couldn't remember if you could park in the Harder neighborhood (I thought at least on College Drive but maybe not.) I'll have to say my bad on my recommendations!

The field is at Kentucky Wesleyan College on the main street in Owensboro (Frederica). There are a couple of parking lots, and I think they park on the grass around KWC and around the nearby neighborhoods. I would probably drop him off, find a spot and come meet back up - but a Catholic fan may tell you better. I'd say you are within a couple hundred yards of the field no matter where you park. There is usually a couple different points of entry but its been a few years since I attended a game there. #21 below - you'll see the lights as you look to your left heading northward.

I picked Mayfield over LCA. Great win. But to me Beechwood is king of the hill and kryptonite to the Cards. Any close game always seems to go their way so give me the tigers! 28-24

Good points from everyone. I went back to the first game. O gave up 2 TD’s where our defender was lost. BG QB was unstoppable and did what he wanted. O hit the gas late but was down too much to make it a game. I’m sure BG has continued to grow. To me they are one of 2 favorites to win it all with the bluebirds. The Owensboro defense has been horrid until the Hendo game. Since then they have been much better, but defending the purples at the El is a tall task. Delacey had 3 Interceptions the first game. If that happens again, it will be a blowout win for BG. ‘Owensboro with Winstead and Ashley on defense is a huge upgrade. The first game between BG and O, Hampton was a WR and only had 4 carries. Now he the dominant back. He helped to torch South Warren. I think this game will be a battle. If one team wins the TO battle by plus 2, they will win. BG has to be the favorite. Calpreps has this as the #3 and #4 teams in 5A and BG winning 38-31. Either was this turns, tremendous year for O in rebuilding mode. Delacey has been a heck of an athlete stepping in at QB. Great job by Coach Fallin and staff. Think on this: of 3 teams O lost to they are all still playing and may be state champs: BG, CAL, Ocath. Also throw in 2 teams it scrimmaged in Mayfield and Boyle. Go devils!
