  1. None scheduled. If they win their region's All-A tournament, they could conceivably play someone like LCA or Sayre in the state All-A, which may be over in Frankfort. Otherwise they'll have to get to Rupp to play a Lexington team. Welcome to the board. You may be interested to know that if you click the forums tab on top, the last entry on the list of high school forums you get will be the KHSAA scoreboard that has the schedules and results. Good luck.
  2. Don’t know of any recent changes. Formula for the 43rd: 2-way ties: 1. Head-to-head results 2. Coin flip 3-way ties: 1. Head-to-head results 2. Draw from 2 hats – one with seeding, one with team names
  3. Our intrepid 11th region correspondent Joker’s Wild 24 has promised to make an appearance at this event. My son and I are hoping to renew that acquaintance when we attend on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Looking forward to Boyle vs. Bryan Station Friday, and a good card on Saturday. Might have to duck out to a neighborhood watering hole around 2 Saturday for UK-UL. And Joker owes me a beer!
  4. In past years, there has never been updating except manual posting to charts on the wall in the lobby. Because of the complexities of the many loser's brackets, it's very difficult to track this tournament unless you refer to the charts or print up a copy of the online pdf file and carry it with you for updating. The bracket will be printed in the program, but they charge a lot for those the first 2-3 days. Tip: They'll be half price or free by the last couple of days of the tournament.
  5. Can't believe you missed Boyle! And North Laurel.
  6. From the Sayre school website: “Sayre High School is a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) and as such competes on the District, Regional and State level in X-Country, Golf, Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Diving, Tennis, Track and Baseball. In addition, Soccer, Basketball and Golf compete in the “All A” which is a mid-season statewide tournament of smaller “A” sized schools. Many of our teams also compete in the Bluegrass Conference which is made up of regional schools of similar size. Basketball, volleyball, baseball, track, x-country and swimming all compete in the Bluegrass Conference. Lacrosse is not yet a sanctioned KHSAA sport. Our US Boys Lacrosse program competes in the statewide Kentucky Lacrosse Association High School League and statewide post season tournament.” On a quick search I couldn’t find a membership list for the Bluegrass Conference, but have found one in the past. A quick look at Sayre’s schedule over a couple of years will give some hints as to who else might be involved – maybe Berea, Model, Morgan Co., Burgin, etc. I know they have to travel a pretty big area to find enough small schools.
  7. List looks pretty good, but will change a lot, and quickly. May start tonight with a key 43rd district fight. The Bulldog pups are out of the doghouse now, and finally get to play in the Dawg Pound. I’m headed over to see how they do against LCA. Interesting to see tiny Sayre ranked above the Creek. That won't happen many years.
  8. This is a longshot – but so were some of the guesses above – so please don’t razz me. Any chance the connection is the coaches having kids who played Ky high school ball? Rupp’s son played, and Calipari’s. Did Hall have a son that played at Harrison Co.? Tubby Smith had sons playing college ball when he moved here, but didn’t he still have younger children at home, or maybe they played hs during his previous time in Lex? Finally, was Richard Pitino living in Ky during his high school career? Sutton had a kid who played in Lexington. I know he’s not a counter for the question, maybe I can get partial credit?
  9. So you're confidant Bullitt East has no problem with Lexington Christian Academy?
  10. Bracket now online for this year’s Republic Bank Classic. http://www.lexingtoncatholic.com/images/files/Athletics/boysbasketballtourney2014.pdf What’s the chance of a final four with Manual vs. Trinity and Boyle vs. LexCath?
  11. Per Scott Chalk, coach at PLD: FAYETTE COUNTY HOOP-O-RAMA @ Paul Laurence Dunbar High School Nov 22, 2014 10:30 Lafayette vs Franklin Co 12:15 Henry Clay vs Lincoln Co 2:00 Ashland vs Owensboro 3:45 Tates Creek vs Breathitt Co 5:30 Dunbar vs Louisville Central 7:15 Bryan Station vs North Laurel
  12. LexCath may have already removed the agreement from their website, I sure can’t find it. The following is from the Lexington Christian Academy website. It is a summary, not the full wording, as it does not mention that the oversight panel for decisions is stacked with FCPS people so they win every vote. Here’s the edited version: Eligibility Effective August 11, 2010, Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS), Lexington Catholic High School (LCHS) and Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) agreed to abide by the terms in the following agreement: All references below to “sport” or “sports” refer to KHSAA sanctioned sports. References below to ineligibility in terms 1 and 2 mean that a student may not participate in game competition or practice for any sport at any level for one full calendar year from the initial date of enrollment at the applicable high school. Students affected by this rule may participate in off-season athletic training and conditioning activities per KHSAA guidelines and in which no coaching supervision is provided. 1. Participation in the 8th grade “play-up” rule. If a Fayette County area student plays a high school varsity sport as an 8th grade student, then transfers from the FCPS system to LCHS or LCA, or the reverse, as a freshman student, he or she will be ineligible in all sports practice and competition at all levels for one year from the initial date of enrollment for their high school freshman year. Example: If an 8th grade student at Beaumont Middle School plays a varsity sport at Dunbar High School then enters LCHS or LCA as a freshman, that student will be ineligible for all sports participation (practice and games) at any level for one calendar year from the first day of enrollment at LCHS or LCA. 2. Fayette County high school transfer students. Any Fayette County high school student who transfers from a FCPS to LCHS / LCA or the reverse after the first day of enrollment of their freshman year or subsequent years will be ineligible for all sports participation (practice and games) for one full year from the date of enrollment at the new school regardless of whether or not the student has played sports at any level at the previous high school. Possible exceptions to this rule involving extenuating personal, family or financial circumstances may be submitted to the Athletics Oversight Committee for review and decision. 3. Eighth Grade “Transfer” Rule. An entering freshman student who has “transferred” after the 8th grade from a Fayette County public middle school to LCHS / LCA or from a Fayette County Catholic elementary school to a Fayette County public high school will not be eligible to play any sport at the varsity level during their freshman year. Such students will be able to play at the freshman and junior varsity level. This rule is superseded in the case where an 8th grade student has “played up” as an 8th grader at a Fayette County school on the varsity level, in which case term # 1 above will apply. In the case of an 8th grade student transferring from one school system to the other during the 8th grade year, the determinant school will be the one at which the student was enrolled as of the first day of the school year. The Athletics Oversight Panel will review all situations in which athletics is considered a possible primary deciding factor as to why the transfer occurred. 4. Formation of the Fayette County High School Athletics Oversight Panel An oversight panel will be assembled composed of public and private school representatives who will serve as a standing review and decision-making committee of all Fayette County student transfer situations that are not clearly governed by KHSAA rules and points of agreement in this document. All parties agree to abide by the decisions rendered by the panel.
  13. Lexington Catholic is withdrawing from the transfer agreement made 4 years ago with Fayette County Public Schools and Lexington Christian Academy. Although I’m an outspoken critic of LexCath, I don’t think there’s any secret agenda here – the agreement was shameful, and has had the unintended consequences we all predicted of impacting families negatively when there is no sports-related intent behind students switching schools. The response of FCPS will determine how these programs schedule each other going forward. School website has statement: Fayette County High School Sports Agreement Update - Lexington Catholic, Lexington Kentucky
  14. This makes a nice field of 16. But maybe more will be added. The last 5 years they’ve had 19-21 teams, with several play-in games to get to the bracket of 16. Most years 3 or 4 out-of-state teams, last year was 21 teams all from Ky and I liked that better, more rivalries and bragging rights.
  15. Congratulations, Mr. Evan Hall. I’ve enjoyed watching you play at Rupp, LexCath, Lafayette, and MoCo, and even had a rainy winter’s night making my only visit ever to Hindman to find Knott County Central. Hope to see you continue to develop this season. The Jaguars should be a real good experience and a good fit. It was the high school class of 2011 when IUPUI loaded up on Kentucky kids. An older boy from the AAU club my son played with chose IUPUI and has been very pleased – Marcellus Barksdale from Tates Creek. Marcellus has graduated in 3 years with NABC Honors Court grade recognition, and is using his 4th year to get an MBA. I think he lost his first season to injury and may have a 5th year still available. Details at The Official Website of the IUPUI Jaguars. The other Ky kids that year: Ian Chiles, graduated in 3 years and now at Tennessee; Lyonell Gaines, now at Morehead State; Donovan Gibbs, played 3 yrs; and Jordan Shanklin, played 2 yrs. Don’t know current status on those last two. Good luck, Mr. Hall!
  16. Congratulations, Matt! Have a great senior year. Counting on you guys to keep the 43rd exciting.
  17. Good info, thanks. Both these stations do a “Game of the Week” and bounce around a bit. Do they have schedules anywhere? WLXG-1300 AM barely hits the city limits and when they switch to their night power and pattern they barely cover Lexington. WVLK-FM reaches most of the surrounding communities and would be the best bet for most nearby listeners. If this year is same as last, the 10PM-midnite scoreboard show is on 630 AM WLAP. Maybe some visitors at the game can enjoy that on the way home. Last year, they sent me a list of their statewide network for this scoreboard show, if anyone wants a copy PM me. Was helpful driving home on Friday nights to find a nearby station with coverage.
  18. 1380 AM and 94.9 FM, neither gets out of Lexington well. Streams on Real Life Radio 1380 & 94.9 - Home.
  19. Can someone please explain the organizational and financial structure of Cordia? It’s called a “community school” and obviously has some degree of autonomy, yet there’s mention here of the Knott Co. Superintendent. How much control/responsibility lies with Knott County? Is Cordia just a Knott County public school? When I visited Cordia for a game a fan told me that Perry County provides school buses and teachers. Is that correct? To what degree is Cordia in charge of its own decisions? Do state and federal dollars go to Cordia? Who’s in charge of their checkbook, and from where do the financial inputs come? Is it a private school, a public boarding school, what? Thanks in advance for any explanation.
  20. You bring up a really interesting topic with its own merit. Perhaps you could start a thread about it. Might be interesting for parents, especially those who might want a kid to play aau in the future. Might be an eye-opener for coaches, especially those who aren’t parents and don’t realize how much supervision a kid really needs.
  21. Thanks to both of u for info!
  22. JW24,all the kids you’ve mentioned will be juniors and sophomores, Dunbar should have a couple of good years. PJ Corio will be a senior and definitely be an important part of the rotation. Chemistry could be the torpedo, the coach could use some Dale Carnegie. It was a big issue last year.
