I didn't say I had a problem with it at all....... And no one is impacted negatively by it IMO. I dont have an issue with the playoffs as-is with basketball.

This isnt the same argument as football, technically they play 3 rounds of "playoffs in 3-4 days in the post season, compared to 3 weeks in football.

I dont forsee them being down in 5A for an extended amount of time honestly. The way that Scott Co. is growing, they will be back up in 6A quickly. I dont know how many more years McKee has left in the tank & I am interested to see just how the split impacts them, but they are all factors to consider.

I've never heard of the extension before. The AD submits the paperwork & if its not sent in, I haven't seen them budge in the past. Not saying it hasn't happened, but I can remember not having a coach & having to submit the paperwork & just deal with it after the hire.

They will be class A as long as they exist IMO.

GRC in a runaway. There were a lot of high hopes for Douglass by many around the area that they were going to come in and compete/dominate in all areas. Outside of football being good in the city (once they played Scott Co. 2x did they see they weren't gonna win the Region, the rest of the programs have not performed like they thought they would. GRC by 20+

No offense, but where are you watching games? That doesn't happen in the 10th/11th Region even in the Middle Schools. Middle Schools go through the same process as the high schools of the 10th/11th to get officials for games & they are assigned, they don't just get to call their buddy who has a referee shirt from last halloween to call their games for them. :no:

From the Scott Co. BOE webpage: The new high school in our community will pay homage to history. The original depression-era building located at 2168 Frankfort Road was erected in 1939 and named Great Crossing to honor the one of the first settlements in our community out of respect for the buffalo which crossed Elkhorn Creek nearby. A high school program existed at Great Crossing School until county schools consolidated to form Scott County High School in 1955. Great Crossing continued to serve our community as a school until the opening of Western Elementary in 1993. The original building, pictured here present day, now houses the Scott County Board of Education Central Office. Members of the Scott County Board of Education will consider school mascot and colors in May 2015. The name receiving the second largest number of votes was Georgetown High School followed by Elijah Craig High School. As a stand-alone school, Great Crossing High School will open in Phase I for 700 students, grades 9-12, in August 2017.

Not debating you, but giving you another viewpoint. I grew up in a county school system that had at that time had 9 high schools, but there was also an independent school district in the county as well. You could easily tell just by the condition of the buildings & grounds that the county schools struggled, while the independent schools did not. Mind you this was just that side of the equation. When you discuss athletics, none of the county facilities were even close to offering what the independent school had for their teams. It was evident in stadium & gym conditions, condition of uniforms, etc. This was the 80's & early 90's. I can remember that my high school football team in 1992 was wearing the same uniforms from 1980 & the same with basketball, the uniforms were nearly as old. Contrast that with the independent & they were always wearing the best of the best, new equipment, etc..... Now saying all that, it comes down to this. We still went out & competed against them when we played them. We weren't playing them to lose, we played them to win. We never did get over the hump in football, honestly there was only 1 of the county teams that gave them trouble, but we would at least split with them in basketball if not sweep them in the home & home. We always wanted to beat the city kids. Just my 2cents, not that its worth that much!

You think he will stay there for the long haul? He has skipped around from Bryan Station to Manual & now to GRC and from what I hear is always looking. For your sake, if you are a GRC fan, I hope he stays & gives that program many years of stability.

Anyone hearing anything about who is interested or if they have interviewed anyone yet? I haven’t heard anything at all.

I think it’s a pretty awesome tradition if your team is fortunate enough to be able to be playing this late in the season!

Spoke to a friend of a former grad-assistant coach that said he was contacted by a representative from Dunbar about their open head coaching position. They told me they respectfully declined to be considered for the position. Got a feeling this one is going to be harder to fill than they expect it to be.

I’m willing to bet that he is a head coach again sooner than some think @TeddyRoosevelt

2007/08 Bryan Station team. Shelvin Mack, Dacoby Burnett, Terrell Combs, Montell Morones. Very fun team to watch. Only loses on the season were to Mason Co. first game of the season & a loss to Scott Co. They lost in the Region finals to Lexington Catholic. More than one person has told me that Shelvin had the flu that game. Catholic went on to lose to Holmes in the Sweet 16 semifinals & Mason Co. won it all.

If you don’t win you get canned, but you never get the chance to build so why go there?

They did lose a few kids to FDHS for one reason or another but in reality they lost zero to the redistricting to them. Bryan Station sits in-between those two schools so the overall impact to Dunbar is minimal. Dunbar actually gained some of Stations students when the attendance area shifted back towards the direction of Dunbar. Station was the one that was hurt the most from the building of the new school in regards to athletics.

If that coach is smart & their current program isn’t a total dumpster fire then they should stay where they are. The current leadership will not give any coach enough time to get their feet set & attempt to right the program. They want immediate results with little to no support from their position & don’t want to deal with any issues of rebuilding a program from the ground up. In what we call the real world we all know that isn’t possible. There’s always going to be some type of growing pains to fixing a problem, they just don’t want to take the time to allow that to happen.
