Anybody have any stats from this game?

Every time SW drove they got that call and were shooting FT's. Trevon gets called for the foul after he gets hacked. You could look at 10 plus calls like that from this game. Refs don't decide a game but anybody that says they don't effect the outcome and play a part in how a game is decided has a bias or doesn't know basketball. They didn't lose the game for Mercer but played a huge role in the outcome.

Did Wayne have an off night or Somerset just hot or a combination of both? Anybody have any stats?

12th Region tourney at Pulaski Monday night will have a big crowd. Pulaski, SW Pulaski, Somerset and Mercer. With 3 teams from the same county plus Mercer will make for a packed gym at Pulaski.

Trevon played an incredible game from start to finish as Danville had no answer for him. Any win in the region is a good win. Mercer needs to pick up their defense and rebounding. Their PG needs to work more to get everyone involved and less looking for own shot. Outside of Faulkner and Baughman I don't think the rest of the team had more than 7 shot attempts combined. They can beat mediocre teams that way but I don't think they can win region like that see championship game last year when Pulaski won easy. I thought Danville played as good as they could play in the 1st half and were still down 6.

The only public stats are on KHSAA. Avg the 5 starters points per game, FG%, 3pt % FT% and Reb. I don't think KHSAA lists assists, steals blocks. He said Boyle had the best starting 5 not team stats. End of the day it is just the opinion that Boyle has the best 5 starters and it really doesn't matter when it comes tourney time. Everybody played a full season and Mercer was the only team to go undefeated in the 12th region. From that alone you would have to say they had the best regular season of all teams in the region. That means nothing when it comes to tournament time as all stats and records are thrown out the window. You don't get a prize for having the best team in the region over a 3 month span. It only comes down to a one game scenario and the best team doesn't always win in a one game scenario.

If it is only based on your opinion than I understand and that's fine. Stats on KHSAA disagree when you base it on starters. Pulaski has the best stats from starters. Mercer is 2nd and Boyle 3rd and I only looked at those 3 teams. There may be another team that has 5 better starters stats wise. They are close between the 3.

The draw doesn't really matter. Any team that doesn't bring their A game every night will be going home early. In order to win region you have to beat 3 good teams no matter who comes out on top

Yeah Mercer's district in 4A was a lot easier than the proposed district they are in now for 3A with CAL and Desales

All 8 teams are really good not a single easy game against any of these teams. If Mercer or Boyle were to get beat in the district championship it could set up interesting 1st round games also. Who do you think will win the 48th?

Playing at West can be a tough place to play especially if they are shooting good.

I agree he wants it and deserves it. I am just saying he is not a selfish player

I agree with you about a lot of this. One thing that makes this situation different and makes Trevon different is that he doesn't even have twitter. He doesn't seek the spotlight. He has a D1 scholarship already. He played on a local AAU team up until his 17U because of loyalty when he had many chances to play with a shoe team on the circuit years before that. . I think this award may mean more to people involved with the program than him and that is the problem.

Mercer has seen some of the same things. There is a connection with the coaches. I don't blame the kids at all though. Coaches 100% are in charge of setting the culture of a team.

Yeah unbelievable shot. I hope everyone appreciates how good he is. He will definitely be missed next year. When it left his hands everyone felt like it was going in.

So everybody thinks no upsets. Mercer is at West and it is always a crazy environment when we play there. Mercer should win but if West is on they could beat Mercer especially the way Mercer has played the last two games. Where is the Pulaski District tourney? Any chance Somerset upsets them in the championship? Any chance Lincoln or Danville upset Boyle?

How do you think the district tournaments will play out? Who do you think will win and runner up for each district tourney?

Look at Mercer Basketball on Twitter you can see the dunk there. @MercerTitansBB The player that turns it over is the one that takes the charge. You can see he is not set on the charge. Total bail out by the ref.

I thought Warren Central played good and they are a solid team. Mercer jumped out the game 11-2 and then the refs got involved called 2 fouls on Trevon got him out of the game. Foul count at the end of the 1st QTR was 7-1. Ultimately have to give WC credit for out playing Mercer. I am worried with how Mercer has looked the last two games. They have reverted back to December when they go 1 on 1 taking contested shots. When they make the extra pass and are unselfish they get open shots they can knock down. Hopefully the coaches will point this out to the players and get them back on track sharing the ball.

Faulkner with 18 Gillis with 17 Drakeford 15 Baughman 10. Mercer continued to have balanced scoring and unselfish play. They had an off night shooting and missed a lot of open shots they normally make. Lincoln has a good young team that will be hard to deal with in the upcoming years. Gillis scored his 1,000 point last night.

Per KHSAA Gillis had 23 Drakeford had 19 Devine at 18 Faulkner had 18. Mercer had some games early in the season where one guy took most of the shots scored most of the points and it was some of their biggest losses of the season. Hopefully they have learned from it and if Corbin realizes this isn't the recipe for success they will be fine too. Corbin has 3-4 other guys that can score too.

When Mercer shares the ball like that they are hard to beat. Trevon had 18 points was the 3rd leading scorer and mercer was up over 20 when they took the starters out. Taylor had 41 points and his team got blown out.
