I don't know if I completely agree with you that Morgan is the best Jags player. He is an exceptional player but he has flaws that teams are exposing them.

I agree for the most part of what Hellbird has said. Cooper has plenty of receivers. This is not a one man receiving corp. The rest of the receivers have actually done a better job this year than Morgan has. Will has the ability to find the open targets. Last year Morgan was free on pass plays as the opposition was more concerned about the running game. This year the running game is not existent. Because of that teams are manhandling Morgan. Campbell county physically beat him up on both sides of the ball. Last week Cooper had way to many dropped passes. Of the 12 incomplete passes roughly 7 or 8 were in the receivers hands and they failed to make the play. You are always going to have a couple drops at this level but that was uncharacteristically high for this team. Especially on the last drive when it mattered most. I would love to see cooper go back to Bricking at Tailback with 4 wide and just air it out every play, and run draws. There are too many receivers for everyone to be covered. Will will find the open receiver.

Cooper could sure use the win. They had their opportunities against Scott. Even though Cooper is 2-4 they could easily be 5-1. Defense needs to step up and force Barker into some bad decisions. Barker will put up points and yardage for Cooper to win they must start forcing turnovers. I have yet to see any monster hits by Coopers defense. I don't want to see any dirty hits but someone needs to step up and be the enforcer on the defense.

Not exactly sure how Ryle handles it but going from Freshman team where the coaches only are concerned about that team to the Varsity and JV level things change. I have seen where the players on Varsity getting 80-90% of the reps during practice. Then on Saturdays they just throw players out on the field for JV game. No game plan no development of players Very few coaches show up for the JV game if it is an away game the Varsity coach is not present as he is doing the Varsity game film. The feeder programs work great through the freshman class then there is a breakdown for most players their sophomore and Junior years. No one works on getting them better and ready to step up to the next level. If the kid is good as a freshman but does not have the personal drive to improve there is no one there to push him. I have seen a lot of teams that almost every coach there main concern is the starters and maybe a couple of key reserves. Very few coaches are looking at what is coming up the next year and making sure they are ready to step in.

Cooper needs to stop with the bend but don't break defense that Borchers was so proud of last week it crumbled last two weeks. Cooper has played 4 teams so far this year with weak passing games and have only been able to beat one of those teams. So far Cooper has played 4 bigger schools out of the 5. If Cooper can get Avery going in the run game it could allow them to keep drives going. Wildcat needs to be scrapped or run with Avery to keep defense honest.

Until Cooper can find a way to stop the run they are going to have a hard time winning. Hard to put many points on the board when you only have like 5 possessions in a game. Defense needs to cause more 3 and outs and get more turnovers. Mistakes are still killing Cooper. Turnover on the 3 yard line. Bad coaching decision to kick the ball to Campbell County with 4 minutes left eliminated any chance to win the game.

I also agree Cooper in a close game. Defenses will be tough on both sides. Campbell County will probably try to pound the ball and wear down Cooper. Cooper will spread the ball around in the air. Who has the fewest mistakes could be the winner.

One thing I said going into the season was that Cooper had a lot of skill players. I have not seen the explosion I expected yet but the good thing is that 5 people have receiving TDs, Fussinger, Morgan, Youngblood(2), Kissel, Henderson. Eventually you will see Bricking and Pauls get receiving TDs.

Ludwig also last game had a rushing TD and a rushing two point conversion.

I expected myself for the offense to be a little more explosive. Running game I expected to be a little better. Most of the time Cooper seems to go with spreading the other team out. The other teams have had big lines which has made it difficult to run against. I am still waiting for Cooper to put a complete game together. They have played well enough to win every game. This is still a work in progress.

Unless Boone County scraps the platooning I don't see them winning many games. Their new coach needs to realize he is not in Bowling Green and he is the new coach in the area. Even that would only make the score close. The tweaks Borchers made on Offense and Defense made a big difference. Moving Fuss to Dog helped stop the run. Inserting a fullback and/or TE helped open up the running game. As mentioned before the season started it would take a couple weeks for Cooper to get things ironed out. Week by Week Cooper will continue to improve.

Me too. He played great the one quarter he played defense but if you are expecting for him to throw the ball 90% of the time that is going to be difficult. Defensive end is also probably the last place you want your QB playing on defense especially against a team like Ryle that runs 90% of the time.

Here are my observations of the game Ryle: They took advantage of their size up front, They controlled the clock and did not let Cooper have the ball very long. Ryle did an excellent job on special teams. Their punting and punt coverage were the big difference. They have a lot of players that can carry the ball. Biggest areas for concern for me are can they throw the ball. Only had a couple completions. Had one interception but probably should have had more. Cooper: Defense played much better against Ryle than they did against Dixie. The defense of Cooper definitely kept them in the game. Ryle received the ball 4 times within Coopers 40 yard line. Only offense was from the passing game. Had very difficult time running the ball. That issue could be solved this week with the return of their fullback who was out with a concussion. Special teams is the biggest area that needs fixed. Having two punts blocked is going to hurt anyone in a close game. Return protection needs to improve. Aaron had very little room to gain yardage. If these teams play again the outcome could easily have came out the other way. Both teams player very hard. Hopeful both teams continue to improve and have success the rest of the season.

Quick update on Ludwig. He is going to be fine. Injury occurred on the roughing the passer play. He took a helmet up under his rib protectors. Deep abdominal bruise. He is sore but should be good to go.

I hear Boone County is trying to do this but might not have the depth to do it yet.

When they were running 10 plays each he had some nice throws and a couple nice runs. When they started the quarters there was an issue with the Center QB exchange and then he threw an interception. He did not play much during the quarter part because he tweaked his wrist. He could have went back in but for precautions they kept him out. When he had time he was able to pick the defense apart. He is no Tyler Morris running the ball but he will surprise teams this year scrambling and gaining positive yardage. He completed passes to at least 4 different receivers only targeting two of the deep threats once.

I think it will be close too but I think Cooper has more weapons than Ryle. I could see the score being 35-33. Key on both sides could be who is in shape and who has the least number of injuries. I saw where Ryle lost for the year one of their top RB and WR and another RB is dinged up. Cooper has had a couple minor injuries to a couple skill players but should be pretty healthy by Friday.

I think the big question for Conner is again this year can they play defense. As with any sport while offense is what everyone wants to see defense is what wins games. I do not think Conner will go far. I think they were more talented last year and were lucky to pull out some close games by outscoring the competition. That caught up to them in the playoffs and it will probably do the same this year.

I agree this could be Scott's year but until they prove they can play with the big boys of Class 5 I would not rank them at #2. The last two years it has been Conner, Cooper and South Oldam as the class of 5 in Northern Kentucky. Conner has been blessed with a great QB and all purpose player the last couple of years. Cooper had a great senior and junior class last year.

For the most part I think this was a very good article. A couple corrections to the article though. Will LUDWIG, Avery Bricking and Cory Fussinger are all seniors. Unlike in the past where Cooper only had a couple of skill players this year on offense this year they will have a running back and at least 6 receivers to go to. This will be a very senior lead team.
