  1. Bethlehem generally plays better at home. Solid win for the Bears lets not fool ourselves Coach Burns is getting them ready for next week. He knows what he is doing, they need to get healthy! Don't want to go into the district without a starter.
  2. The 30th district games will be great, very intense games. Collins/Shelby, Spencer/Anderson exciting times.
  3. The staff needs to be commended I know they have to branch out to other states but EKU should have been more of a player for some of the instate talent in the past. The previous staffs had just ignored the state.
  4. Amen to that one also! You could make a case for both of those kids to be on the 1st two teams.
  5. How Branden Leff running back from Spencer County is not on this list is somewhat confusing. He led 4a in rushing 1812 yards 15 touchdowns. 4200 career rushing yards. 4A district 4 POY, member of BOB team.
  6. Collins 2-0, Spencer and Anderson 1-1 and Shelby 0-2. Collins travels to Anderson this Friday and Spencer hosts Shelby in early February.
  7. Congrats to the team and coaches! Proud of the Bears, they play so unselfishly, they play with great effort and are well coached.
  8. Not out of the loop at all, I stand by my comments the amateurish administration handled this poorly. I also want to make sure I am not saying no one should have been punished quite the contrary it was unacceptable what happened. However a coach stepped up and did the right thing and the administration could have dealt with this in a manner that would have minimized the distractions to all parties. Take this incident away and it is still one of the worst run districts in the area that has continuous turnover at every level.
  9. Sorry about that didn't mean to seem as an attack, just stating that they were friends who had a disagreement. Sorry about that Jim!
  10. As I said it was two coaches coming off an emotional and embarrassing loss who were discussing how to fix some things. They had differing views and it escalated into a verbal altercation that had physical contact. There were even people on the bus that didn't even know an incident occurred. Just wish it was handled differently, but I still say it shouldn't have ever occurred both individuals recognize that.
  11. I have never seen coaches get into altercations in public, however if you think coaches don't have verbal altercations behind closed doors you are mistaken. No one is asking for people to feel sorry for the coaches most notably them. They made a mistake, and they both resigned. Just don't believe that was the best way to handle the situation. I guess we will agree to disagree knowing all parties involved, this has been blown way out of proportion. These coaches had coached together for years, are great friends and are still great friends.
  12. Two coaches discussing an emotional loss and it becomes heated and their emotions got the best of them. Lets not over dramatize the incident and think the coaches had each other down in the seats pounding on each other. There were words and there was physical contact and then the assistants separated them. I have seen many coaches on staffs have heated exchanges on practice fields, practice courts, coaches offices. My view is why this can't be use as a learning experience for all parties. Suspend the coaches for a set number of games and it sends the messages to all parties that when you mess up there are consequences. Firing both was just way overboard, especially when the assistant accepted full responsibility and offered his resignation to allow the head coach to stay with the program.
  13. You are totally out of the loop and made a totally irresponsible comment referencing this situation. Knowing both parties extremely well this event should have never taken place as it did, with that being said I firmly believe that the amateurish handling of this situation by the district was inappropriate. These coaches stepped up and offered viable solutions to this incident. These solutions included one coach accepting FULL responsibility of the incident and tendering his resignation. This would have been the best option and benefited the kids, but with this administration they just don't get it! Again let me make sure you are aware the incident was something that shouldn't have taken place and these two individuals would be the first to admit that. However it did and you try and learn from it offer assistance and move on. Not ignore an individual who has given 22 years of impeccable service to a district both in the classroom and in the athletic arena. We can all learn from all situations, just disheartening that school administrators don't step up and support their coaches when it is needed most. Supporting your coaches is not always easy, but is something that is necessary.
  14. This was very unfortunate and should not have happened. However knowing both parties very well this is another example of the inept leadership of the Nelson County schools. The handled this poorly just as they do every situation within that district. This once proud district is a train wreck on every level! Sad situation!
  15. Wouldn't say Spencer played their best game either actually far from it.
  16. Burns had no interest in Shelby County. Burns has it really good at Spencer and the future is extremely bright!
  17. Not happening I know the school you are talking about.. Burns is going nowhere, he will be at Spencer for years to come.
  18. No problem with where Spencer is ranked. They have to climb the rankings. The DeSales and Danville wins are nice. They have a 5 game stretch beginning Friday and ending on January 24th where they play 4 teams ranked ahead of them in Collins, Oldham, Gallatin and Anderson and a top 5 or 6 5th region team in Larue County. We will know a lot more who they are after that stretch .
  19. Well aware of that. Lol One is and one isn't you can probably figure it out.
  20. Don't think anyone is saying Spencer County is a contender for the region. I just don't think people realize how young and talented they are. The future is bright!
  21. Coach Burns has built the program the right way. This is his fourth year and he and his staff work extremely hard. The program has progressed every year and they are not a team that you want to take lightly. They have multiple shooters, they have a couple of post threats and they will guard you. They have gotten better every week, and fully expect them to continue to improve. They are well prepared, and they play extremely hard and unselfishly. The future is bright with the current young talent and the talent all the way through their middle school programs. Definitely a program to watch, they will have ups and downs this year due to their youth but this is a program that is on solid footing and will continue its upward trend. Really exciting team to watch play!
