I've still got friends who teach in Ky and they've told me about that. I think it's a great idea although the school system is going to end up paying more. We passed a law a few years ago that says you have 5 years to get a job in admin once you're done with your masters. We had a ton of people getting it and then not entering the field.

Yes there are. But what a lot of people miss is that most of the high dollar guys have been teaching 20+ years and usually have several add on degrees so that will bring their salary in the area on $80,000+. The the boosters will kick in an extra amount. Keep in mind that most of these guys making the money will get For Sale signs in their front yards with a quickness if they don't perform. And most of the high dollar guys are in south Georgia's Region 1 which is considered the SEC of the state.

They shouldn't have to teach but if they don't then I think the booster club should pay their stipend and not the school.

I don't know how people do it and be successful when you have to drive that far. You're investing a tremendous amount of time in the program that it's so much easier to be near by. Ha, my first job the previous coach had signed us up to play at the #1 team in the state two years in a row for the money. That was painful. Thread hijack over. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. So he was teaching in Somerset but was allowed to be the head coach at Caverna? And man, that's a tough drive to make every day and be involved in the program. More power to the man that can do that. 30 kids is impressive considering they only have about 120 in the high school.

What happened with the Caverna job? Did the old coach take another job?

It depends on the school system. In the larger counties we have junior programs so any kid from any area can sign up and play for that team. The team I coach for are the Warriors. Our junior program goes by the Junior Warriors. Our head coach runs everything for them but scheduling because the league handles that. The smaller counties tend to use middle school programs and the high school coaches have a large influence over them.

I'll carry this over here from Hellcats: "Not normally. Gotta remember up here HS coaches have teaching/school day employment and then second shift football." Pretty much every coach in the state of Georgia is also a teacher. There are some community coaches but I can only think of one coach who is not a teacher and that is the world famous Rush Propst who has 1 period of planning, 1 period of "Football Operations", 1 period of Cafeteria duty and 1 period of PE. The rest of us teach.

I was asking if the high school coaches run the middle school programs. I guess I'm applying how things work down here in Georgia which means the middle school coach has even less influence on running the program than you guys are saying.

Shouldn't the HS head coach be in charge of most of that to begin with?

I don't get it. Why would a high school program hire a middle school coach to take over? Of course this is assuming the coach has spent most of his time in middle school.

Why do they need a source at Bentonville if they have a source at T? It sounds like they haven't even narrowed down who the candidates are so it's completely plausible that he withdrew his name.

Is it that hard to understand that Trinity fans have "solid" sources at T? Several people here have played and coached at T and still have "solid" sources. More so than a guy who just lives close to school he was interested in.
