  1. NKY 3A Region 5 track & field results It turned into a great evening last night for track at Dixie Heights where many enjoyed new track records and new PRs. Congrats to all who qualified for the state meet, as well as, setting a new PR. The track was fast and apparently based on the following results the temps were complimentary! Team wise, Ryle won the girls regional, and CovCath won the boys! The Campbell County girls began the evening of setting new track records when the 4x800m relay won convincingly with a time of 9:55.34. Ryle's Juliet McGregor followed suit by setting new track records in winning both the 100m and 200m dashes. The Ryle stalwart sprinter continues to set the bar higher, great job and congratulations! She also went on to win the long jump... Ryles success continued when Alexandra Patterson not only set the track record, but a new Ryle school record in the 800 with a winning time of 2:19.63. :thumb: Maddie Bloemer ( Ryle ) won the 110m hurdles and set a new track record. Rebecca Cline ( Campbell County ) won the 300m hurdles and set a new track record!!! Congrats to Grace Pavek ( Cooper ) who won the girls shot put and discus...well done Grace! CovCath boys had a great evening winning and setting new track records in the following relay events: 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400m! Also won the 4x800m relay... The Unified events stole the show, as they should. Fans enjoyed a mixed format. Thank you to all the volunteers who help facilitate the success of each participant. There were A LOT of smiling faces last night at Rice-Mountjoy Stadium. :thumb: Good luck at state and continued success to all who qualified!
  2. Introduced soy sauce to my grill this week with both pork and chicken and so far so good on the feedback. Goes great with garlic and onion powder! ENJOY
  3. Looking forward to seeing of how Dixie Heights athletes, Nicholas Smedley (OL/DL) and Bryce Smith (LB/QB) develop. Both have a lot of upside and leadership skills! Go Dixie Heights Colonels football... :thumb:
  4. Gaining momentum state wide and great to see. A friend of mines daughter shoots for her school in Louisville and really enjoys it. Their team has doubled in two seasons! :thumb:
  5. D3 wise the following conferences offer a wide variety of opportunity and success in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana: Heartland Conference, North Coast Athletic Conference. Note Centre plays in the Southern Athletic Association and TMC in the Presidents Athletic Conference. D2 is limited in the region. Great Midwest Athletic Conference and Great Lakes Conferences make up most of the teams. NAIA wise you have the Mid-South Conference, mostly made up of Kentucky schools. And the Mid East League in Indiana/Illinois. Research the schools and check out game films to identify potential fits. D2 and NAIA will provide more $$$ towards football than D3. Send emails with video to proper position coaches/DC/OC/HC. Build rapport and they will tell you what camps they will be at if they like what they see video wise. UC camps offer a slew of opportunities to cross paths with regional D2 and D3 coaches and OU camp at Mason HS in past years has been well attended also. I wouldn't recommend more than 1-2 camps a week. And I'd cap the number of camps in the single digits. Good luck, have fun, and enjoy the experience. Feel free to pm me with specific questions or concerns. Remember these coaches are looking for players that fulfill needs in their system and student-athletes with passion for the game that want to be a part of that schools culture and ability to help win conference championships. It's your alls job to convey to them your student-athlete can do that...:thumb:
  6. You are a class act TOG, thank you for the post!
  7. 1. Ramen w/ cut up chicken breast 2. PB&J with a glass of whole milk 3. Beans & Rice
  8. Add Vallandinham and Washington for Dixie Heights...the Colonels line will be a strength this year!
  9. Back in the 80s we would go 8-11a and then 2-4:30p in August. Coaches kept us pretty well watered down and we all survived! As much as we worked our hinds off and struggled with some brutal heat that time of year the team building and prep reaped a lot of success. I actually miss those days... :lol2: Iron sharpened iron and a lot of solid friendships were forged on that hot practice field!!!
  10. I think this approach is solid. Good coaches adapt and overcome with what the players provide!
  11. One more time Jags...we believe in you all! Best wishes and continued success from NKY...
  12. Regardless where the young man ends up landing, thanks to Jake for representing Scott and the Northern Kentucky region as well as he did! Have fun and go make a difference at the next level!!!
  13. I'll be happy to buy you a bucket of chicken if you would resume your stellar coverage... PLEASE!!! :thumb:
  14. Congrats to Scott on the W and to the HC seniors on the schools first ever regional championship. Playing in Rupp for both squads regardless of the outcome will provide fond memories for all involved for many years to come! Keep soaring Eagles...hope the run continues! :thumb:
  15. This looks pretty good to me!
  16. I enjoyed a great conversation with his Dad at a pbr showcase a few years ago. Glad to hear about his continued success and development. Great kid and family!
  17. ...well said Sixer and well done Coach Sully, i know a team that should have gone zone as well and didn't! It's not rocket science. Cooper has done a great job with coaching hires, culture, and developing athletes! Go get em JAGS!!!
  18. This... you were a beast LB during the tourney...THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME & EFFORT! It was greatly appreciated!!! :thumb:
  19. And here i thought the earth shifted on it's axis...nope just Cooper beating Covcath! Congrats on a fantastic win Jags. Celebrate within reason, get focused, and have a fantastic trip to Rupp representing NKY! Well done... :dancingpa
  20. Really, really, really like this post. :thumb: Earlier exposure to camps the better. I'd have my kids in college camps no later than summer before sophomore year. Some universities do a really good job of inviting coach volunteers from all levels to asses talent. The kids will learn where and how they stack up as well. It should be your student-athletes goal to learn the importance of eye contact, good handshake, and be prepared for a 1-2 min long conversation with a coach. At camps end your kids need to be introducing themselves to coaches. Then follow up with an email, hudl video, and leave messages with appropriate fits. Then attend those specific universities camps. If they like your athletes they will be invited for game day visits and if they want your kids....official visits. It's tough to ask teenagers to take on the responsibilities of "selling themselves" to adult decision makers. The ones that do however, are ahead of the game. Ideally your kids have choices as a result of their efforts and can identify the best fit for them and their family. My own son insisted that he wouldn't make a decision until he had overnights at the schools who had offered him. He wanted to make sure the player culture matched what the coaching staffs were selling. We did use NCSA because it took me out of the controlling Dad mode and placed accountability on him via a third party. The connections, knowledge, and staff guidance benefited our situation and helped equip him with the tips he needed to ask and answer questions to identify the "best fit!" I had a great conversation with an at the time WKU coach who is now at Purdue who shared the following..."We are simply looking for kids that want to be with us and put forth the effort to win championships!" Coach, i think it's great you are pro-actively seeking insight to better equip your student-athletes. You can compliment their efforts by networking those potential fits, encouraging camp involvement, and winning! And for your own well being know that most of the responsibility falls on the players and their families efforts. Thank you for caring as much as you do. Good luck to yall this season and best wishes on preparing your kids for the "game of life!" :thumb:
  21. Just like covcaths "system" has nothing to do with offers! :bunny: Feel free to pm me moving forward on this subject!
  22. Great kid, family, and good student...Dixies system didn't provide the big #s required to attract D1-2 offers! Confident solid camps this spring will land him with a solid fit. And if necessary a year of prep school to gain exposure if necessary, hope that's not the case! Proud of the Dixie Heights Colonels on a very good 26 win season, well done boys! Hats off to the blueboys on the W...depth and good defense will serve you well moving forward! :thumb:
