So CovCath clearly better than the competition tonight with not even their best effort.

Yes, they would. Chatard is a good middle size class team. They are not a Cathedral (when they have their stars) and the are not a GLC South team. They would be a good GCL North team and competitive with their better teams. CovCath did not even play as well as they are capable of and still won by 30-7. The Chatard passing game in not that good and CovCath just missed several Pick 6 opportunities. The secondary for Chatard was very suspect and CovCath exposed them. The DL was probably their best asset and even then Mayer would scramble past them.

Winton Woods, LaSalle and this team are all about the same and are good but not elite. Check out what St. X did to LaSalle tonight. I thought Chatard looked like a good 3A or 4A team in KY but I think Belfry would beat them so not that good. Make no mistake CovCath is good but Chatard really blew the end of the first half and this should have been a 14-7 games with Chatard getting the ball to start second half. As mentioned above CovCath has to stop with the penalties. The QB cleaned up a lot of 2nd and 20s but those can be a killer in the postseason. CovCath special teams played well. Kickoffs to the endzone when they wanted and punting was very good as was the coverage. Those things make really good teams into great teams.

Sounds like a sloppy Beechwood game on a Thursday night. Would have expected they would have put the Yellow and Black Tigers away earlier but I'm sure this was just a workman-like effort with the focus being on next week. Look for the rotation to tighten up a bit in that one while still playing a good number on offense and defense and wearing down Ludlow.

I understand that the two offense stars (RB and WR) did not play for Cathedral when they barely hung on over Ryle and I assume they did play in the big win over this Chatard team. But Chatard only scored 13 on Cathedral and so I expect they will put up about the same amount on CovCath. And I expect CovCath to maybe not put up the 34 that Cathedral did but certainly 24-28 is not out of the question. Add it all up and CovCath wins.

Offense seems to be down this year among the top teams. So lots of 1-0 and 2-1 games likely. And the dreaded PKs.

Should be a decent game. Scott has the speed to match Taft and their defense is better. Plus being at Home should help. Scott is improving on offense so I think they can get it done.

I think Ludlow will put up some points against Beechwood but the big challenge will be on the Ludlow defense and special teams to keep Beechwood from lighting up the scoreboard.

That is why Cathedral got the penalty for encroachment. They were trying to run their Goal Line defense in after the QB was down at the half yard line. But then following the penalty and timeout they stacked the line with the 323 LB dude and Ryle was not able to move the pile. Also the QB had the ball slightly behind his side and that did not help either. So close.

I have it recorded and the replay from the endzone clearly shows the elbow with the ball behind it down before the shoulder hits in the endzone. It was the correct call. If the QB extends his arm it is a TD but he was protecting the ball and his elbow and the ball where the first things to hit and they were short of the goal line.

I would think NCC does not risk using any of the players on the mend if they are available with Lloyd coming up the next week.

First, ESPN productions was great. Second, KY officials got every call correct in the final drive without replay and without huddling together for 5 minutes on each call. Neither time was Ryle QB in the endzone. Watch the replay. Third, Ryle showed a lot of heart. I think they were going to hand the ball off or throw it on the final play but when the shotgun snap sailed over the QB's head just after the Cathedral coach called timeout, I think they decided to go under center. But then they had a FB and RB in the backfield which does not help the QB when he is getting stuffed at the line. Yeah Cathedral was missing their 2 best players but they still had plenty of other talent including the Michigan commit 323 pound center and other massive OL guys. So here it comes..................Ryle is the second best team in NKY.

CovCath does not play Cathedral. They play Chatard which lost by a point to Winton Woods.

Rough road for HC hope they hang in there. Has a team ever had a larger drop off from one season to the next?

I think SK will have their hands full with Camels and Ryle. That should be two good games.
