The point is everyone keeps saying declining enrollment like it is something new. It has been declining since the 1960s when there was 7 Catholic grade schools in Northern Campbell Co and now there is 1 small one. Pick 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007, 2017 and it will have gone down in every period. This isn't anything new. Their football roster has been 40-45 pretty consistently since 2000. Enrollment was declining under Schneider and declining when Eviston took over and it was declining when Wagner took over. That does not really have an effect on football.

Male enrollment has been declining since the late 1960s if you want to technical about it.

Point is no one complains when Assistant Coaches on State Champ teams have sons, brothers, nephews, cousins on those State Champ teams.

I said go back to State Champ teams.

Go back to the Schneider and Eviston State Champ teams and you will find just as many coaches "related to someone". There is not a tree trunk full of "non-related to someone" assistant coaches just wanting to put all that time in for no money.

I would think it would be difficult for a teacher/coach to leave any Public school system with the pension situation (even though that fund is another topic) to take less money and no pension at a private school. Possible solution would be for any new Coach to remain teaching in the public school program (as Coach Wagner did) while coaching at NCC. Other possibility would be someone not employed by any school system and is able to put the time in while still being employed.

On a semi-humorous note I guess losing 1 District game in 11 years gets you out the door.

15 years from now tuition at the lowest cost NKY Private school might easily be over $15,000 a year and could be somewhere around $20,000 a year and a lot of private schools may not exist or have very small enrollments. Go back to 2002 and see the percentage increase in tuition since then at every school.

Define good? Money? Absolutely Not. Solid Returning Classes? Yes. Interest from Boosters/Fans/Parents? Yes. Top-Notch Practice Facilities and Field? No. Support from Administration/Assistant Coaches/Other Sport Coaches? Yes.

So if Mayfield got moved to 3A and then won 4 straight titles in 3A how did the multiplier help the other teams in 3A in those 4 years? And if you want to leave them there for the next 4 years how is that helping the other teams in 3A for the next 4 years?

Well said. The only semi-acceptable rant would be if there was a concern for player safety which would be maybe 2% of the time. The other 98% of the time teach your players to adjust. If they are calling it tight do not reach, do not hand check and do not go thru a player to deflect a pass when on defense. On offense drive and make them have contact with you and do not settle for jump shots. Or you can yell at the officials about a call they missed 3 minutes ago.

Boone County is going to struggle against the better teams in NKY this year. Lack of size and only a couple of true scorers.

What everyone seems to forget when wanting teams that are successful to move up a class.........How is that benefiting the teams in the class that they move into? Let's say we use a 8 year look-back period to determine "successful" teams for the next classification. Let say there are two 2A teams that have played in the finals in 6 of those 8 years and let's give them 3 State Titles each. So they are moved to 3A . Great for the remaining teams in 2A. Not so great for all the teams in 3A who now have two new very good programs that they will have to beat in the playoffs. Let's say those newly reclassified teams win 1 title each in the next 4 years. That means some 3A team would have been a State Champion in those years if things were left alone. Oh and all those 2A schools that were glad to see both of those schools be moved to 3A.....wait the KHSAA also moved a 1A super program to 2A who then eliminated four 2A schools on the way to making the Finals. So someone explain to those "old" 3A and 2A schools who were eliminated how it is so much better that schools are moved up.

Was once seated behind a Visiting Team bench during a first round 1 seed vs 4 seed game (so no one was there) and the visiting team coach was going nuts because the Home team went for 2 up 34-0 ....................with 5 minutes to go in the second quarter. Yelled to his players they were being disrespected. When Home team failed on the 2 point try due to a dropped pass he implored his team that this was the start of their comeback for being disrespected so badly!! They promptly fumbled the kickoff on their own 18 yard line and 1 play later it was 40-0 running clock. Ended 47-6.

Highlands 1 NCC 0 means winners are ND, Highlands, St. Henry, Ryle drawing runner-ups NCC, Holy Cross, Dixie, Cooper. I would think since you can't draw your own runner-up ND would get either NCC, Dixie, or Cooper. Highlands gets HC, Dixie, or Cooper. St. H gets, NCC, Cooper, or HC. Ryle gets NCC, Dixie, or HC.

Hmmm how so? Didn't one of the best High school and College and NFL players come out of Boone Co? Did they care then?

BTW since Boone County has no Independent school districts like Kenton and Campbell Co they do have a competitive advantage in all the non classified sports. All those Independent school districts and County school districts competing for kids and dividing all that talent while Boone Co has just those 4 massive 6A schools. Maybe there should be some rule against that?
