Mr. Athletics Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 I expected this to go down to the wire. Did the officials let them play?
keepinitreal Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 79 free thrown taken between the 2 teams.......
roger482ky Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Most fouls I ever saw called in a game. 3 Simon Kenton and 2 Walton Verona players fouled out.
keepinitreal Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Neeley 8 Michael 11 Perry 10 Strunk 16 Hicks 2 Gutman 6
keepinitreal Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Jones 11 Stamper 35 Krohman 7 Harmeyer 7
Mr. Athletics Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Thanks. Unbelievable! Must have been a super physical game and a battle of the benches.
Clubhouse Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Took in first game of the season. Games between these two usually find a way to to be interesting. However, I didn't think this one would be that close. SK needs to find someone to score besides Stamper; she scores inside like she's a post. I know they like to win with defense but you still need to score. Couple of other game thoughts; SK won on the scoreboard but the players sure didn't look like it. Not a whole lot of fun I guess trying to rebuild. WV coach came unglued at one point but didn't get a T. Biggest rant I've seen in a while that didn't result in foul shots; interesting.

You would think with Niece out the rest of their roster would see an opportunity to find their place in the sun. Looks like Stamper is the only one taking advantage of her absence.

Ranting at officials is an issue athletic directors need to address with their coaches. Male coaches tend to be the worst offenders. The opportunity to teach an important lesson in controlling one's emotions is being missed. What do players learn when they see their coach appear to lose control during a game? To me they learn this is the acceptable way to act when things aren't going your way. The refs are going to call the game the way they see it no matter what the coaches, players, or parents/fans think. Games would be better if more coaches toned it down and concentrated on teaching their kids. Not saying emotion isn't part of the game or that you can't engage officials over a questionable call. Simply you will get farther if you treat others the way you wish to be treated, instead of ranting at them. That is a lesson sports are supposed to (but all to often fail) teach kids. The only semi-acceptable rant would be if there was a concern for player safety which would be maybe 2% of the time. The other 98% of the time teach your players to adjust. If they are calling it tight do not reach, do not hand check and do not go thru a player to deflect a pass when on defense. On offense drive and make them have contact with you and do not settle for jump shots. Or you can yell at the officials about a call they missed 3 minutes ago.
