Who will replace Alan Mullins at Ryle?
...ThenSome replied to theguru's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Sometimes I feel that people forget to think that a good head coach isnt just a person that can draw up some fancy x's and o's, that is the easiest part of the job, but more importantly its how that person manages players, parents, fundraising, boosters, paperwork, how they work with their youth teams (middle school, AAU, etc), and many other aspects of coaching that people NEVER see. It all depends on those people on the committee and what they feel is most important. -

Discussion of the 10th Region Preview
...ThenSome replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think Montgomery will struggle if they run into a team with equal athletism because I do not think Montgomery is very deep. In their regional run, they only went 6, maybe 7 deep if needed. Also, if Montgomery runs into a good post player, they might have some trouble. They do not get much production from the 5 spot (on either end of the floor) and if Prewitt should end up in foul trouble having to gaurd a big, they might struggle. -
Any pitcher can get beat on any night, but if either of these two get beat this year, more than likely it will be due to the lack of offensive production, not from pitching. Woodford will get everyone's ace this year, should be an exciting season.

I may be wrong, but did Brossart even score that game against him?????????? If it is my understanding of how that game went, Woodford's bats did not come alive until the 9th, Holland was dominant.
-
Didnt even think about him not being in the 10th...........my bad!

The "You're Not For Real" Award Woodford County's Eli Boggess (usually pronounced "bo-gus")

My guess is that whomever has the best state tournament showing will win, or at least whomever goes the furthest.

Love me some Code brothers, but I think ole Happy has had to make a few adjustments once or twice in his lifetime against some pretty good competition. If we want to compare head to head on which coach could make better adjustments, my vote would go to Happy. Did not get all those wins in college for not making adjustments.

11th Region: Henry Clay vs Madison Central
...ThenSome replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think Henry Clay has struggled with teams with some quickness, and MC has plenty. Two teams meeting in the semi-finals of the region, both of which are fully capable of winning state, dont get much better than this boys and girls. -

Dominique Hawkins = Darius Miller?

I got ya. I think the best thing that can happen is Central makes it to the state tournament and Hawkins shows extremely well and he showcases what he can truly do. If you are looking at 3 and 4 year guys, I like what he could possibly bring, maybe not his freshman year, but after that?????????????? -
Dominique Hawkins = Darius Miller?

The statement was made to show that he does have the ability to play at that level. However, the fact that he did drop 27 or so on a top ranked team, I would think that is a pretty strong indicator of his ability, can't fake good! Also, that game was not the only good game he has had this year, he has been consistantly good this year against all levels. -

I'd have to disagree, Hawkins can and has put up some serious numbers against national competition, but can't play @ UK? Dropped 27 or so against the Harrions twins the night AFTER playing a big game. Jarrod Pohlson is getting big minutes @ UK yet Hawkins couldnt? Also another reason I think Hawkins would be a nice fit for UK is that he does possess the tools and ability to do things that UK needs right now such as setting up the offense, getting the ball to players on the floor where they can be successful, play defense, but yet all while have the ability to score if needed. -

Not sure why this isn't already a done deal??? In years past they have let some solid kids from in-state go (i.e. Lofton, Hickey, etc). Its time that he starts picking up some solid in-state recruits that can be 3-4 year guys, and Darius wasn't even his recruit. -

Hey baby, Manti to'o doesnt have to know about this, its between me, you, and that ball. -
Woodford has struggled as of late, but some of this was expected. WC lost their 6'5 wing man (I think he was the 2nd leading scorer and their top rebounder), so the the jackets have been making the adjustment. Boggess also appears to be banged up, only playing a few minutes against Collins, as well as some other nagging injuries. Should be an interesting game, as stated previously, 3 of the coaches from WC were coaches/players at Montgomery.
