  1. You called it! Demarco had a great game! Barfstown WINS! I'm so excited I forgot the score!:fight: It was a knockout! (second half). Congratulations Tigers on your first trip to tha state tournament in 38?? years!
  2. I second that! God Bless the soldiers and their families!
  3. Now that's not a fair statement. Sure it's a different team, just as Joey Downs' teams were different from Garnis Martin's teams. And I can assure you, they didn't have to go up against the size and caliber of teams that Bardstown is playing this year. There will be no coasting in any week this year. Bardstown will have to fight hard for every win, and will have to improve every week, but I'll bet you on this- the Tigers will be ready at the end of the season. Bardstown 21 John Hardin 20
  4. Bardstown played a heck of a game, had the chance to win many times but kept falling short, this is a different team then last week you can tell the coaching staff got after the tigers this week in practice, and dont forget tigers Warren East is a really good team.
  5. The team will be okay... the game has been played, they need to look forward, work hard and focus on each week ahead. Do the work and we'll be okay! Do Work!!!!!
  6. This kid is amazing! If his work ethic stays on course with what it has been so far this season- the colleges should begin to take notice! Kebbie is fast, quick and has more moves than anybody I've seen for the past 20 years. He's going to make this a very exciting season for Bardstown fans.
  7. so what you're saying is there's no such thing as a rivalry on the field, but also respect and friendship off the field? I appreciate that kind of passion:fire: Maybe we should get alittle more vicious down here in B-town:fight: Thanks for the feedback! Now, since I'm not a NCC or HHS fan, I guess I'll just move along...:walk:
  8. Well, sticky mitts, I guess I can't help you there, maybe it was a bit over your head!
  9. I like this thread! It makes me think of the boys I know from Bardstown/ Bethlehem. When they play against each other- they leave it all out there on the field. But when the game is over, they meet outside the locker room and head out together for the night. They give the losing team about a half hour to get over the hurt of losing, then proceed to mercilessly make fun of each other for the rest of the night.:ylsuper: I guess that comes from being in a small town and having played together at some point in youth sports. Also the mutual respect of the talents of each other. Don't get me wrong- they each want the other team to lose, and lose bad! But I think they have a good grasp of the fact that it's just a game.
  10. Oh, and how can I forget the return of all-state center Jeremy Gesser?
  11. The Tigers this year have some challenges for sure. They have a much tougher schedule, they need to fill some holes with the loss of A. J. Lewis, Paul Downs, Wenquel Graves and Brant Sheckles, and a new head coach. But what they have working in their favor is the return of solid performers like Kebe Scott, a bigger, stronger Ted Mattingly, a solid, capable QB Alex Smith, a talented Rashaun Phillips, return of reciever Andy Smith, Rashaud Barber the addition of kicker Logan Edelen, a strong line including Jeff Helton and the usual Bardstown speed. The defense will include all these guys and more and under the direction of Ron Koontz will again be solid. They also will benefit from the continuity of one of the strongest coaching staffs in the state, Dave Clark has been well primed for this job. The tough schedule will challenge these boys and make them stronger. Spring practice probably didn't reveal anything new because of the track and baseball schedules, but the guys who were there worked very hard. The dedication and focus of this senior dominated team will be the deciding factor this year, but look for the Tigers to uncover some new talent- they always do!
  12. today the Tiger football team was told that the football coach was goin to be the offensive coordinator David Clark
  13. Coach Downs has played with, coached with, and coached several of my family members. It has been a privilege to have had him at Bardstown over the past 3 decades. He has put together- arguably THE best coaching staff in the state. The last 2 years have been proof of the effectiveness of his coaching ability. Neither team was predicted pre-season to be a threat. Yet the hard work of the coaches and the players produced 2 of only 4 undefeated regular seasons in Downs' career as a coach. He leaves the next coach with a bunch of talented and dedicated young men. I want to wish Coach Downs all the best in his retirement- and Thanks for all those amazing football memories!!! You'll be missed!
  14. You gotta figure that Bethlehem was unranked for one reason- most BGP voters are simply unfamiliar with Bethlehem as they are a new program NOT located in northern KY. Bethlehem only lost one game in the toughest district in class A. If they were unranked it was because of the voters ignorance (I don't mean that in a bad way) of the Eagle program. Watch out class A, because if Bethlehem can beat Bardstown at home- they can beat anybody left in Class A.
  15. hey cometscoach- my advice is not to worry about what anybody else thinks of your team's chances. It doesn't mattere if 90% of the state thinks you're the greatest. What matters is what your team thinks of themselves, you proved that Friday. Believe in your own ability, and let the non believers deal with the results. High praise from others is not always a good thing. Stay humble, and wear 'em out this week.
  16. First, I want to say congratulations to Bethlehem on a big win tonite! You played with the determination it took to take down a very good Bardstown team. To Bardstown- I'm so proud of all of you for the exciting season you gave us this year. This is no time for excuses, blame or regrets. You'll be remembered as a team who exceeded all expectations. If somebody had predicted a 10-0 season from this team at the beginning of the season, most people would have called them crazy. Hold your heads up and get ready for next season. Bethlehem- good luck at Danville next week!:thumb:
  17. Honestly, you're probably right in terms of the fans' reactions, but many of these boys are friends, and they have had some lighthearted bantering back and forth this week, and I think both teams respect each other for the quality of thier teams, and they'll survive this just fine! These are not your typical smack talking kind of kids. These games all contribute to establishing a great rivalry that will create a buzz year after year! And I like it! Oh yeah, Go Tigers!!:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa
  18. Rickyp- you are like a lot of people today. I'm like so many people- conflicted in my feelings about the war. I, too, supported going to war, but as it has progressed, I feel that maybe decisions regarding the course of this war have been too political, thus leaving the troops over there flapping in the wind. What I wish is that this administration could accept responsibility for some wrong decisions and set forth a sensible plan to resolve this conflict. And I wish the politicians (okay, the Democrats) would allow them to correct their course without using it against them. It's time for Americans to pull together and put our collective minds to making a success plan without worrying about who gets credit or blame for it. After all- American lives are at stake here!

  20. Look for the bad? When you lose your friends in battle? I'm talking about an infantry soldier! And I'm not saying He sees it all bad, in his first tour he saw a lot of progress being made. This tour has been a completely different story. And I think it's pretty presumptuous of you to think that any soldier "wants" to see what he has seen! You see what you see! There are many places in Iraq where things are going very well. But in Badhdad, or Al Anbar Province, that is really not the case. I'd also like to add that if you spoke to people who were there before the current wave of insurgency broke out- they might have seen it differently.
  21. Who ARE we fighting for? The Shiites or the Sunnis? Do we have the right to chose a side in this? Much of the violence in Baghdad is the result of rival factions trying to gain control. Yes, the terrorists are involved, but this is a civil war. So, who are we fighting for? Iraqi's? They are killing each other!
