A couple of high school friends I still talk to on a weekly basis, actually hung out with a buddy from high school on Saturday. Most of my college friends are still based in West Virginia and I do talk to them occasionally but I don't see them often.

Agreed; the books make watching the movies that much better. I thought about reading the books again before the next movie comes out.

I thought Woody did a good job as well. The first 2 books have so much detail/action that I always think back to parts that don't make it into the movie.
