10th Region Rankings & Weekly Review (1-17-16)
While getting the 1 seed is definitely an advantage over playing in the 2/3 game, it is by no means a free pass to the region. Not that anything crazy like that happened last year...

Cantrall Ratings (1/17/2016)
I'm a little confused about why the 9th region teams are so high. CovCath is a top 20 team, but doesn't have the results to be considered top 5. NCC is borderline top 25 at best. No way should they be top 10.

Wayne County 78 Hopkinsville 75
I disagree about the call you mentioned. I thought Henegan went through Blevins to force him out of bounds. Both players ended up out of bounds, and it looked like enough contact to me for the call. The missed call that stood out most to me was in the first half when Blevins was trying to get open on an inbounds play he caught the defender with an elbow in the head, but the foul was called on Hopkinsville.

Fuller has to be on the court for the Indians to be successful. He typically stays out of foul trouble, so it's unfortunate when he does have to sit with foul trouble. Agree on Jones as well. Scored at will to start the game, but didn't get enough touches after that.

Wayne County 78 Hopkinsville 75
Blevins hit a couple early 3s to give Wayne a lead 4 minutes in. Hopkinsville was able to create turnovers and control the game for the rest of the quarter, but couldn't finish well enough to create any distance. I felt like the Tigers controlled the second quarter as well, but Wayne was winning at halftime. Wayne held a lead for most of the second half that stayed around the 2-7 point range. Cager hit some big shots for Hopkinsville to keep them close, and Ware hit a couple big 3s, but they couldn't ever quite catch up.

Atiola played much better than earlier in the year. He was a solid contributor. Johnson never really got going.

Taylor County 65 South Laurel 58
He had some foul trouble, but didn't have to sit on the bench for too long. His teammates didn't do a good job of getting the ball to him, especially in the second half. Most of his offense came from offensive rebounds.

Taylor County 65 South Laurel 58
Taylor looked like a completely different team than when I watched them before Christmas. A little more team oriented. South Laurel played much better in the first half, but didn't shoot it well in the fourth. They killed Taylor on the offensive glass, but had too many turnovers late in the game.

Fun game to watch. I love watching Blevins play. Hopkinsville definitely put the pressure on Wayne defensively, but Wayne handled it relatively well. Ware hurt his ankle in the 3rd and was out for a while, but was able to get back into the game for the last few minutes. He hit a couple 3s late to keep Hopkinsville in it, but missed an off balance shot from the corner at the buzzer.

Pulaski County 68 Montgomery County 59
Pulaski shot it well and did a good job of getting to the basket. Powell and Hall both played well. Montgomery didn't shoot it well, and didn't play well enough on defense to claw back in. Pulaski led by 1 after 1, 6 at the half and I think 10 after 3. They hit shots, 2 3s and a 2, at the end of each of the first 3 quarters.

Anyone know the official schedule for tomorrow? I've seen two listings that are an hour off from each other.

Taylor County 67 North Hardin 59
That's really all they need offensively from their role players. Put the ball in the basket when Gooden/Slone create an opportunity. When I watched Taylor Co play, Gooden and Slone didn't do a good enough job of getting their teammates involved. This is definitely a step in the right direction.

Dunbar 64 Henry Clay 46
So true. When they play well I think they are easily the best team in the state. It just doesn't always happen.

Mid-Season All-10th Region Teams
Haven't seen enough 10th region this season, but I find it hard to believe there are 5 better players in the region than Caswell Fuller. He is the best player in the 40th district, and I would argue one of the best pure point guards in the state.

George Rogers Clark at Montgomery County Predictions 1/15
I believe the 1 seed is still a possibility if either win out.

George Rogers Clark at Montgomery County Predictions 1/15
The last two match-ups at Montgomery Co both resulted in the home team hitting a buzzer beater for the win.

LIT Quarters
All of these teams are arguably top 25 in the state. Should be a great day of bball.

Shout out to Mercer Co. for being ranked in National Region Top10
That's really cool. It's always good when our state gets positive attention.

10th Region Rankings & Weekly Review (1-10-16)
I think Montgomery Co has the stronger overall resume. They have 3 wins over teams that are, or had been considered top 20 teams in the state, one on the road and the other two at neutral sites. The loss to Paris was on the road on a last second shot. Also, where Paris was dominated for the last 25 minutes of the game against Madison Central, Montgomery Co led Madison Central almost the entire game before losing on a last second shot. In fact, Paris and Montgomery Co have played 4 common opponents and MC had noticeably better results against 3 of them. The 4th, Bourbon Co, was throttled by Paris in the first matchup but it was significantly closer the second time. Montgomery's result wasn't nearly as good as the first Paris result, but pretty similar to the second. All that to say, there is a very strong argument to rank Montgomery Co ahead of Paris currently. However, you also make a reasonable argument for Paris being number 1. Paris has no bad losses, and 1 good win (head-to-head).

Scott County 74 Henry Clay 63
It felt like a lot more. Regardless, very solid game for Robb. This Scott Co team doesn't wow you, but they are very good. They got a lot of deflections, rebounded well, blocked some shots, etc.

Scott County 74 Henry Clay 63
Are you sure Robb only had 20? Saw a tweet that he had 16 at halftime and he definitely scored more than 4 in the second half.

Henry Clay couldn't hit anything. Not only did the 3's not fall, but they had some trouble finishing in close as well. Cooper Robb had a huge night for Scott Co as they move to 17-1
