  1. I think that is what they need from him to be successful as a team. Earlier in the year it was a lot of Goodin putting head down and going to the basket.
  2. Pendleton Co won the tip and connected on a 3 to open the game. After that it was all Indians. Hunter Bentley, a senior who got the starting nod on senior night, sank a 3 from the top of the key and that was a sign of things to come. I only remember the Indians missing two shots in the first quarter, and they tipped one of the misses back in. Parsley was the star for the Indians tonight, guarding Allen who really had to work for his his 23 points on 9-21 shooting. Parsley also buried several 3s, and I'm not sure any of his shots even grazed the rim. Where the Indians were red hot as a team, Pendleton did not do a very good job of challenging their shooters. I think the earlier nod to Parsley's defense "holding" Allen to 23 points on 9-21 shooting goes to show just how good Allen is. I thought their point guard Wood was solid, but they just looked to be a player or two short of giving Allen the support he needs to put Pendleton near the top of the region.
  3. 65-36 after 3. Indians got tons of open looks and hit most of them. Hitting from everywhere. Close, midrange, long, doesn't matter. Allen looking pretty good, but Parsley making him work.
  4. Per the KHSAA Scoreboard there will be 6 games at Pulaski Co this Saturday 11:00 Knox Central vs. Southwestern 2:00 Mercer Co vs. Cordia 5:00 Perry Co Central vs. Southwestern 6:30 Frankfort vs. Pulaski Co Madison Central vs. Wayne Co Lincoln Co vs. Apollo The last two don't have times listed, but it looks like one would be at 12:30 and the other at 3:30. Can anyone confirm the scheduled times for all the games? Looks like an interesting day of basketball.
  5. Agreed. I really enjoyed the energy and passion he coached with.
  6. I don't think there is any doubt Mercer just had a really bad game. They didn't lose because Lafayette is athletic. I have said that I think Mercer might struggle with an athletic team, and some of the things I saw in this game strengthen my opinion in that regard. I do still think Mercer Co is a top 5 team in the state, and I can see them beating anyone.
  7. I wouldn't consider Madison Central athletic. Haven't seen LCA, but based on seeing them last year, I don't think they are extremely athletic either.
  8. While I agree with you that Lafayette isn't a great example of an athletic team, they did show the ability to withstand Mercer Co's pressure defenses, and also were able to get in passing lanes and force turnovers. Both are examples of what athletic teams could do against them.
  9. Mercer would fare fine in the 11th. They are better than Lexington Catholic and LCA. They had a bad night and Lafayette was on fire, hitting over 50% from 3. They would not be my pick to win the 11th, and I agree with others who are saying they might struggle with an athletic team, but I believe your portrayal of them as a team that wouldn't be a top 6 team in the 11th is shortsighted.
  10. Lafayette was in a bit of a rough stretch, but is still arguably a top 20 team in the state. Boyle and Lincoln are not comparable (unless you are referring to their teams last season.
  11. Lane hit a 3 and was fouled by Dow. Then Dow was called for a T. I couldn't tell what he did or said. Lane hit all 3 free throws and Lafayette on the continuation of the possession hit another 3. Game over.
  12. Central is better than their record. They can play with anyone in the state. This was the second time Dunbar beat them on a last second shot.
  13. Carson Williams is so fun to watch. Having watched him a few times this season I'm more and more convinced he is Mr Basketball. He is a man among boys.
  14. Mercer did not play well at all, and Lafayette played well. It was one of those best case/worst case type things. Lafayette was up 8-12 most of the second half until they got a 9 point possession which stretched a 10 point lead to 19 essentially clinching the victory.
  15. Jones actually had 2 points early in the first, but yes, keeping Jones from being a factor was a big part of the win.
  16. Paris played great defense for the first 3 quarters and seems to have found their correct line-up. Garrard got a put back with about a minute to go in regulation that tied the game. Fuller missed a 16 foot jumper with about 5 seconds left and Garrard was off the mark from beyond half court as time expired. A Garrard bucket from 8 feet gave Paris the lead with 10 seconds left. Fuller was fouled and hit a pair of free throws to reclaim the lead with 4 seconds left, which set up Ashford's wide open layup at the buzzer. The Indians didn't shoot it particularly well, but while in the first game they missed several good looks, this game the Paris D made it very tough to get good looks. Jones played, and missed a couple shots that he usually makes, but he didn't get enough touches. He picked up 2 fouls in the first quarter, and never really got into the flow of the game. Ashford likely wouldn't have even been in the game at the end except for Clark fouling out with a minute left in OT. Overall a really good game. I wouldn't be surprised if these two teams play again twice more, or if this was their last meeting this season.
