I don't think the PA can say things like, "3-Point Goal by Jordan!" with extra enthusiasm for the home team anymore.

Dixie did not have the PA announcer from years past doing the 1st game at home. I hope that its not a permanent thing, as he was/is really good. The replacement was very monotone and, compared to the other guy, boring.

That would be my guess, although, I personally would not want both Hedge and Bolin in at the same time against a team like NCC with McDonald. He truly is a load down low and I would have alternated those 2 on him all night. They each would have given him a different look/style. Ken with have flexibility on what combinations he starts. When I say "missing 2 starters" I mean 2 kids that were both starting at the end of the year last year and playing significant minutes. We had several kids out there tonight playing significant minutes that normally wouldn't see the court.

The final score was about what I expected given Dixie being down 2 key starters, NCC being in mid-season form and Dixie still feeling their way post-BH. I'm a little giddy coming away from the game. As stated earlier, Dixie played with great intensity in the first half... and could of, should of had the lead, but missed several point blank looks. In the second half Dixie was too worn out. I'll give some credit to NCC for dialing up their intensity, but Dixie was just out of gas... those bigs wear you down. Give Dixie their 2 missing starters (6'4 and 6'5) and take away 2 of NCC's starters and Dixie wins big. Things that stood out to me tonight... • Ken does not have his team conditioned. I had several parents, and a college coach tell me that after the game. This is something easily fixed. • You need 2 big bodies to alternate on Drew McDonald all night long! The kid is a monster down low. Having our 6'5" muscular TE from football tonight to take turns with (long) Bolin would have helped. • Mitch Bolin is a man! He battled HARD tonight and looks SO MUCH IMPROVED! • Drew Moore would have been a nice defender to put on Weyer. Drew is quicker and more athletic than Weyer... he would have helped. (Weyer is super-duper good and I'm glad he is OK... his fall tonight looked really bad) • Austin Schreck needs to shoot more... he started shooting later in the game after Rabe and Isbel were fouled out... and hitting his shots. He has to look to be more aggressive from the get-go early in the game. Dixie needs him. • Pangallo and McDonald's (NBA) 2-man game was a thing of beauty. Dixie needs to go back to the drawing board and reconsider the defensive scheme they were playing next time they face NCC. • Speaking of defensive theme... why, oh why didn't Dixie at least try to do what CovCath did twice (successfully) against NCC last year?? If you can face-guard Pangallo the whole game and deny him the ball, don't let him run the point, then you will beat NCC... simple as that.

A little sweet revenge for Siebert? He was with all the SK kids throughout middle school before going to HC.

How is that different than when kids on the floor fighting for a loose ball and the coach calls a TO from the bench?

Either that... or Holmes' win over SC wasn't so impressive?

That's a lot of players who have only touched the ball for a week. It matters. Let them play latter in the season with SK at full strength and its a different game... no doubt.

Dixie was missing Drew Moore, Nick Niehaus and Mitch Bolin.... AND they had 4 reserves that will not see varsity minutes (one of them didn't even make the JV team)... 9 players total... and Ken played them all generously. Dixie was up big with the 5 guys who will see varsity action.... but the score slipped as generous minutes were given. As far as Holmes goes, you know Holmes is my Alma Mater and my second favorite team. I've coached several of those kids, for several years when they were in middle school... I'd pick them up, drive them home, etc... I went to grade school and HS with Rod Avery's dad... I watched my son's AAU team play Rod's AAU team a couple of times during the summer... so, believe me when I say I know what Holmes has AND I am a HUGE Holmes fan.... but there is no way (outside of Beetle) they have more talent than Dixie... no way! BTW, you have to buy me and Lawnboy a pretzel tomorrow night!

I know, and I think Drew McDonald will win. I believe he is the best player and will show it this year. The options given list 4 players AND THEN "Other (Please Specify)" -- I specified who I think will win it. Believe me, if I got to vote on "who I wanted to win it," it would not be Drew. From what I've heard, from various sources, Drew was the better player while they were both on the Travelers... before someone left the team.

I hope so too. The kid has a TON of upside. There are not many kids in the state with his athleticism. Hopefully Chev is able to push the right buttons this year with the group he has.

Dixie isn't quite the magnet school for luring really good players from other schools. Take those players out of the mix and its not even close. And that's all I will say about that

I didn't say NCC would not progress during the season. And I did not say individual players will not get better over the remainder of their career. NCC, as they have shown the last 2 seasons, starts the year hitting on all cylinders, but have not improved significantly as the season wears on. Whereas other teams do at a more significant rate... over the course of the season... as a team... as evidenced by them not living up to expectations at the end of the last 2 seasons.

No way. Dixie played them tight this summer at far less than where they will be to start the season. I've seen all these boys, on both teams, play over the summer in AAU, as well as over the last 4 years. Dixie, with the team they have right now is better than Holmes. Holmes has Beetle... that's it.
