  1. They sure did and Tim Schlosser did an amazing job as head coach there with not near the talent of his two predecessors in Rollins and Mathews. I just ask because maybe Bowling Green just has that much better of a circumstance than any other school in that area now, but back in that time period I mentioned Franklin-Simpson and Russellville could play with the top Warren County teams pretty much every year. I remember in 1991, BGHS had a Mr. Football finalist and was upset by an F-S team that forced a 3-way tie for 2nd in the district. F-S ended up 4th in the standings after the tie-breaker and BGHS would go on to win the region that year. The games featuring BGHS, W. Central, F-S, and Russellville were always contests where anything could happen. In some years, you could put Glasgow in the mix, but they weren't as consistently at a high level as the other four were. I know Central is supposed to be dropping off and Russellville has lost so much in enrollment over the years although Myers has kept them competitive against other small schools. I just didn't know if F-S (since it is the only school in the county and has always had tremendous support) could get back to that. It seems to me that if anyone can do it then it would be F-S.
  2. And, by consistently competitive I mean knocking on the door of being the best team in the BG area as they were in the late 70's through mid 90's. They were highly competitive with Bowling Green, Warren Central, and Russellville who all fielded great teams and made multiple finals appearances during that time span.
  3. How is F-S going to stack up against the Warren County teams they have to play in-district? Is F-S ever going to be as consistently competitive as they were in the late 70-s through mid-90's or have those days just come and gone for the Wildcats?
  4. What does Franklin County's schedule look like for next year?
  5. Apparently, UofL just offered Tanner Morgan
  6. Are the Harpers still in school at Trinity? Or have they moved somewhere else?
  7. From what I know they return most of their starters from last year and should be much improved this season.
  8. Aug 21, 15 Powell County home 7:30 PM Aug 28, 15 Green County at C-Vill U 7:30 PM Sep 4, 15 Russell County home 7:30 PM Sep 11, 15 Lincoln County home 7:30 PM Sep 18, 15 Washington County away 7:30 PM Oct 2, 15 Bell County away 8:00 PM Oct 9, 15 Ballard Memorial home 8:00 PM Oct 16, 15 Jackson County home 7:30 PM Oct 23, 15 Corbin away 7:30 PM Oct 30, 15 Adair County away 7:30 PM I can see Casey's ceiling at 8-2 with this schedule.
  9. You know what's really crazy. If you went back 10, 12, 15 years ago and told people that Danville would even be on a list in a discussion like this people would have thought you had gone mad!
  10. Yes. French's last two years there were very good, but he did have two WKU signees that were Seniors on his 3rd team and a slew of well above athletes in the class behind them that were Seniors his 4th year there on the state semifinal team. The group that was Seniors his 4th year were really the kids he built his teams around. Since that time, Lincoln has not come close to having the depth of talent that they had during French's 4 years there. Regardless of who the coach was going to be, the sledding would have been rougher since 2007. I'm not saying it's all on the players, but it's certainly not all on the coaches either. It's never one person. The problems at Lincoln in terms of football run much deeper than that and many have been expressed on this thread.
  11. Well it's good for Josh that you squared that away. He is a great guy and awesome coach. Whoever gets a chance to hire him won't regret doing so.
  12. HD, I have heard people from Lincoln talk before about the situation with the middle school affecting the numbers for the HS team. The soccer thing makes sense as well and I am of the opinion that we will not see the true impact of soccer on football numbers for another 8 or so years. I fear there will be a lot of even 4A and 5A high schools with skeleton football rosters down the road. If you look at the numbers of kids playing youth soccer in some communities it is 4 or 5 times what are playing youth football. The other thing that I think has hurt Lincoln, specifically, in the last 15 or so years is the administration seemingly making most athletic decisions in favor of basketball over football. Now, I know for a fact that the community in Lincoln wants football to be good. But, the administrators have fully backed basketball to the point where football is a 2nd class sport there. I have heard some say that this is part of the reason why Larry French left. Hopefully, with Travis Leffew being made the AD this will get turned around in Lincoln.
  13. Man, that would be great for Garrard Co. Josh Jaggers would be a home run for sure at either Garrard or Danville. He did a very good job at LaRue. His kids played extremely hard for him.
  14. Travis Leffew is their Head Coach and AD. Settles is now an assistant at Boyle, I believe.
  15. DJason, Was this vote for both PC and Southwestern or just PC?
  16. What is going on to cause all of the turnover in coaches?
  17. After looking at the schedule I (like BlacknGold) think Lincoln can win 3 of their first 4. The back end of that schedule will be very tough for them. Do they have any good young kids coming up? Pulaski will be Senior dominated and some other teams in that district will lose some talent along with Garrard so 2016 could be much better for them as long as they have some young guys that can play.
  18. What does Garrard have coming up on the offensive line other than the real big kid returning? I know many of those guys were Seniors last year.
  19. Does anyone know Lincoln County's schedule for next year?
  20. But, if Garrard has a lot more speed couldn't it possibly end up being a long night for Rockcastle County. Garrard obviously uses a run based offense with two 1,000 yard rushers returning. The game will likely come down to turnovers and big plays. If one team wins both of those categories then they likely win the game.
  21. What are the expectations around Garrard for this season with a strong Senior class? Are they expecting to beat Lex Cath and Boyle this year or is the ceiling a 3rd place district finish and trying to go on the road to possibly beat Bardstown in the first round. What about the future for Garrard in that district with the players behind these Seniors? Is there enough coming up for them to be competitive after 2015?
  22. A big part of the equation for how good Walker can be will be how effective his receivers are. Didn't they lose a few solid WR's last year? I may be mistaken, but I thought they had quite a few Seniors out there.
  23. Johnny, I'm not much of a math guy either but I am a History guy. And being a History guy that looks like a small sample size. And, going back to the creation of Class 4A in the 70's If we look at the state tiles won in the highest classification since that time (4A to the new 6A) what we would find is that almost 75% of the state titles in KY's highest classification have been won by just 2 teams. And, we all know who those two teams are. So, my crystal ball would say that as time goes on in the 6 class setup it will look the exact same way. But, your point about it being difficult for many teams to win state in any class due to repeat winners is well taken.
  24. My thoughts there would be that they were looking at direct competition in their region. When they heard that HHS and CovCath were moving up to 5A they ultimately thought that their path to a region title would be less obstructed in 6A than it would be in 5A leading them to the possibility of deeper playoff runs. But, their chances of winning a state title are definitely not better in 6A. Maybe the better question to help us is the flip side of what we're looking at. Why did DIXIE HEIGHTS agree to move down to 5A when other schools were bumping up to 6A? I think the answer to that is they feel that they have a better shot to win State in 5A even with playing in a region with HHS and CovCath than they did having to try to beat Trinity once in 6A. There is something that playing Trinity does to you in terms of bringing a sobering reality to your competitiveness. This is meant as absolutely no slight to Highlands at all. But, speaking as someone who has played both of them there is a distinct difference between Highlands and Trinity. Maybe you have to play Trinity to really understand that.
  25. I agree that is brutal for Bardstown... But, they have a better chance of making it through that scenario to win state than the 6th ranked team does in Class 6A. Because, once again, the separation and quality of teams at the top are much better in 6A. If I were Bardstown I would hedge my bets on winning state going through 5 weeks of that then having to beat Trinity just once. Since you brought up McCracken County I will tell you this. I think Bardstown has a MUCH better shot to win state than McCracken Co. McCracken Co. may have a better chance to win their region, but not state. What you just laid out proves (and, as I said earlier that I would agree with) that 3A has the most teams capable of winning the state championship in their class. Maybe Guru can explain exactly what he wanted with his question, but I am taking it for face value as what is the toughest class to win state in. Not looking at different teams in particular because then we could have 220 different strands. Look at it another way. I think if Highlands and BG were in 6A there would be some years every now and then where they would compete for a state title in 6A. But, anyone who think that BG or Highlands would have the same amount of state titles as they have won in the last 10 years if they were in 6A are just out of their minds. But, I would safely say that if Trinity was in the same class as Highlands and BG they would have the same amount of state titles in the last 10 years and if they didn't it would maybe just be one less.
