Of These Great Programs Who Wins a State Title First?

Featured Replies

Danville

Breathitt County

Somerset

Murray

Ft. Campbell

Corbin

Russellville

Bardstown

Pikeville

How long before one of them returns to the "Promised Land" as State Champs?

Which program is in the best position to contend?

Which program is the furthest away?

The Closest IMO:

1. Corbin- Huge bumper crop of talent coming up, more favorable path to Semi-Finals, Bell County not exactly is the Bell of old.

2. Russellville- They have had some quality teams and now push Mayfield up to 2A. Pretty weak path until Beechwood in the Semi's

3. Pikeville- Program has been steadily improving and gaining momentum. Extremely favorable alignment.

Furthest :

1. Bardstown- Pretty quality program but still not playing at an elite level with an absolute bear of a playoff path

2. Breathitt County- Decimated feeder system and politics coupled with the loss of their coaching legend

3. Ft. Campbell- Take the awful playoff path of Bardstown and mix it with a school that depends on military activity to replenish their numbers in a time that the military is not getting a ton of money

I could see either Corbin or Russellville on the carpet in the next 5 years.

Although not on the list, I would bet CovCath gets #7 soon. I really feel like the old rivalry between HHS and CCH is going to come back to life.

Nice try to hijack but most HHS fans agree with Thrillville.

Interesting. Hadn't assumed that to be the case.

You know what's really crazy. If you went back 10, 12, 15 years ago and told people that Danville would even be on a list in a discussion like this people would have thought you had gone mad!

Be nice to see the Eagles win one in 4A and put a state trophy in the vase They are stacked with some talent ...and maybe just enough talent to make history,..

IMO Corbin is the only one with a shot in the next 4-6 years.

Other than Belfry and Central the rest of the class is pretty hit and miss...if Corbin is going to do it these next few years may be the time to do it.

You do realize Boyle and LexCath are 3A as well now?

Honestly, I think Russelville is most likely, though that is just a gut feeling.

Who, other than Beechwood, have a shot at the 1A title now that Mayfield is gone?

No I actually forgot that... Corbin is up a creek...
