Beechwood/Hazard Updates - Class 1A State Championship Game
Pretty even 1st quarter.. All Beechwood in the 2nd quarter.. All Hazard in the 3rd quarter.. Hazard just needs to quit shooting themselves in the foot with penalties and find the end zone..

Beechwood - Hazard Class 1A Championship
Russellville's issues in this years game was self imposed, much more so than last year. Way too many unforced and untimely penalties..

CAL 2016 vs DeSales 2013 - Best 2-A team in the last five years
Honestly, who cares? Des ales had a very good team in 2013, but, every team that wins a championship is very good. Not sure why this was headlined between just these 2 teams, heck, those Ft Campbell teams in the late 00's and those early 00s Boyle teams were better than both. NCC and Bardstown had teams worthy of being mentioned in this discussion, as well.

Will all the State finals games be blowouts?
Final Score Predictions: Trinity 49 Lafayette 14 ... Score closer than game actually was.. B.Green 63 Pulaski Co 14 .... Pulaski scores 14 after BGs JV unit enters.. J.Central 35 F.Simpson 21 ... FS gets a late score to make it look closer than actually was.. Belfry 35 Central 14 ... Central keeps it respectable but game never in doubt.. CAL 42 Danville 21 ... I'm being generous here and assuming the Ads don't have too many shanked punts like Mayfield did last week, giving CAL a lot of short fields. Beechwood 48 Hazard 21.. A late Hazard score makes it look a little more respectable, but, game never in doubt..

Beechwood - Hazard Class 1A Championship
Common opponent is Somerset Beechwood 29 Somerset 7 Somerset 33 Hazard 15 I realize Hazard is playing much better now than they were then, but, Beechwood is also playing very well right now. They dominated a very good(not great) Russellville team and their D is playing lights out.. I like the Beechies in this one 42-14

Danville/Christian Academy Louisville Predictions
Danville has some talented skill kids and have speed, but, I feel CALs size will give them the advantage in the trenches. CAL is also pretty fast as a team, but, I don't think they're overly impressive offensively, but, defensively, they're excellent.. I think they're good enough to hold Danville's offense to under 25 points and most likely considerably less, but, I'm allowing for a couple of big plays by the Ads.. While CAL isn't going to beat you by putting together long, sustained drives, they will get a couple of big defensive plays that gives them good field position and some easier scores and the Wright kid will get 2-3 scores by himself and their kicker will likely score a fg or 2.. I think CAL scores 41 and Danville scores 21..

Christian Academy-Louisville 48 Mayfield 24
After watching this game, I agree, Mayfield was in it till late. While CALs DL gave Arnett a lot of trouble with their pressure, there were numerous times that the Cardinal OL more than held their own and actually moved the ball pretty well on the ground, considering the size differential. And, at times, Arnett had good protection in the pocket, so, after further review, I take back my statement that this game was won in the trenches. CAL definitely got the better of it, but, not as much difference as I originally thought.. What killed the Cardinals in the 2nd half was field position and some very poor punts. When you are consistently starting from your own 20 on kickoffs and when you don't move the ball, you shank 3 punts that gives the other team the ball inside the other teams 40 yard line, yeah, that makes a big difference. CAL didn't have too many drives where they had to go more than 40 yards or so. Poor field position, poor special teams(punting), turnovers(3 picks) and CALs kicker(consistently hitting balls into end zone, giving Mayfield long fields all night long). CAL did a lot of good things and they were the better team, but, it was closer than most on here are thinking, simply looking at the final score..

- Christian Academy-Louisville 48 Mayfield 24
I said it all year. It was going to take a very, very good team to beat this Mayfield team and I stand by that. This Cardinal team and more so this Sr. class has been tremendous for 4 years, not only in what they accomplished, but, in how they did it. They played the game with confidence, swagger, heart, determination and sportsmanship. Truly a class act from start to finish. They gave the community a lot of pride and while I know their hearts are broken today, I'm confident these kids will carry on in life with these same characteristics that they've been taught on the football field. Well done and much appreciated. I couldn't be prouder to be a Cardinal fan today.- Will all the State finals games be blowouts?
Honestly, I don't see any of the games being very close: Trinity wins by 28+ B.Green wins by 28+ J.Central wins by 14+ Belfry wins by 28+ CAL wins by 21+ Beechwood wins by 21+- Pulaski County 62 South Oldham 55
If Pulaski gives up 55 to South Oldham, Bowling Green may score 100..- Christian Academy-Louisville 48 Mayfield 24
Congrats CAL. Great game, especially the 2nd half. Mayfield was up 24-17 at the half and got outscored 31-0 in the 2nd half. Paulson was a man among boys on the DL as Mayfield couldn't keep him out of the backfield. He was constantly knocking Arnetts throws down or just making him move out the pocket and uncomfortable. Wright had a couple of big picks and really, it was won in the trenches. Too much size on the CAL side and it's what eventually made the difference. Congrats to the Cards on yet another great season. I hate to see the 7 year state run come to an end but you knew it eventually had to. Good luck Centurians next week in BGreen.- Mayfield at Christian Academy-Louisville Updates - 2A Semi-Final
