Danny Bates was named Jenkins head coach. Brian Hall resigned from Estill County, making the Engineers looking for a new head man. Other than that, not much going on in the 14th.

Madison Southern announced today that they have hired Aaron Ponder as they're new head coach.

Hazard won the 14th Region last year, defeating Powell County in the championship game. Hazard loses 14th Region POTY Seth Caudill plus several other key contributors. Powell County loses a lot including Bryson Edwards. What jobs will be open? What teams will see new players? The past two seasons the title has stayed in Perry County, will that be the case this season or will someone will cut down the nets? Jenkins is open as Coach Winston Lee stepped down to spend time with family. Lots of rumors swirling around Estill County with Coach Hall mulling retirement.

Kentucky just plain stinks.

St. Xavier and GRC tonight for the crown. Can Coach Cook win his second state title since he's been at GRC or will St. X win they're first title since, I think, 1962?

North Oldham (27-5) will take on George Rogers Clark (31-4) tomorrow at 1 in the KHSAA Final Four Sweet 16. GRC has won both two previous meetings back in 2017 and 2021.

St. Xavier defeated North Laurel 46-44. Grayson County defeated Great Crossing 58-50.

St. Xavier (28-7) will take on Grayson County (27-6) tomorrow at 11 am in the final four of the KHSAA Sweet 16. These two have never met according to the scoreboard.

Butler and North Oldham both advance to the Elite 8 in the KHSAA Sweet 16 and will take on each other tomorrow at 6. Butler defeated North Oldham 58-56 last season. Butler 27-5. North Oldham 26-5.

Jeff Davis has officially stepped down after 15 years at South Laurel.

Berea has named Lee Atkins new head coach. Didn't even know Berea was looking for a football coach.

Grayson County (winners of the 3rd region) will take on Taylor County (winners of the 5th Region) Wednesday March 18th at 6 pm at Rupp Arena. Taylor County is 3-1 against Grayson County with the last meeting coming back in 2024 with Taylor winning 75-67.

Heard he's already accepted the LCA job.

Supposedly (if it opens up), he's got interest in the Estill County job, that's if Hall steps down which is rumored.

Thought he had resigned from Montgomery back before the season started?

Butler Bears (6th Region Winner) will take on the Hazard Bulldogs (14th Region Winner) Thursday March 19th at 11 am at Rupp Arena in the first round of the 2026 Boys KHSAA Sweet 16. This is the first meeting between the two per KHSAA scoreboard. Butler comes in with an overall record of 26-5. They defeated Jeffersontown 38-35 in an absolute thriller in theb6th region championship. Hazard comes in with an overall record of 24-10. They defeated Powell County 64-57 in the 14th region championships. The Butler Bears and rolling. Extremely hot, having won 14 straight with they're last loss coming back on Jan. 15th to Eastern. The Hazadd Bulldogs have won 3 straight and 8 of they're last 9. Adrian Wilder (Butler) (14.6ppg 40.9% from 3, 75.4% FT) vs. Seth Caudill (Hazard) (20.9ppg, 30.6 from 3 and 77.7% FT) should be a dandy! Winner Will take on the North Oldham/Lyon County winner.
