Estill County Schools would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Coach Brian Hall for his time and leadership as our Boys Basketball Head Coach.

 

Coach Hall poured his heart into our program and into the young men he led each day. His passion for the game, commitment to our student-athletes, and investment in our school community have left a lasting impact.

 

More importantly, Coach Hall helped shape our players beyond the court, teaching values of hard work, accountability, and pride in wearing the blue and white.

 

Coach Hall is loved dearly by our players, staff, and community, and he will always be a part of the Engineer family.

 

We thank him for everything he has done for Estill County and wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter.

Hearing Steve Helton is the talk around town.  Seems to be open, open but names I've heard is Steve Helton and Derrick Robinson with Steve Helton's name mentioned more than anyone else.

Correction...Southwestern Schools, not Somerset.

Back to the drawing board for the Engineers, I think at this juncture Steve Helton, doesn't make any sense. His son has played all summer with Scott County, the dead period has started in Kentucky. There's really not any time to create any team chemistry prior to the season starting. I would guess that Robinson, or a current assistant are the most likely to be named head coach.

Been over a week and we’re into dead period, where do the Engineers stand on finding a new coach?

Hearing Allen Martin of Bourbon Co. may be a candidate.

Would be interesting but he’s got a good set up at Bourbon. I don’t think he’s interested. 

I've heard Helton has withdrew his name due to no teaches or admin jobs. 

I've heard several new candidates but no names. 

Also heard that Martin from Bourbon County a lot but no jobs available that he can teach. 

Also heard that Derrick Robinson wants it and their is a job open that he teaches. 

 

Supposedly doing zoom interviews this week or next!

Have heard that Allen Martin has accepted the position but not been able to confirm.
