Great news! Congrats!

Nope. I'm done. She doesn't even play for me. I just know she is very good and compares to just about anyone I have seen. And I've seen a lot!! And you started it anyway!!

I didn't see where anyone labeled her the best young shortstop in the state. I have said she is as good as anyone I have seen...regardless of class. You commented on a post where someone was raving about her. And instead of just reading it, you seemed skeptical and noted there is a lot of other talent in Jefferson Co. No one was saying there wasn't talent elsewhere or that this girl was as good, better or worse than anyone. They were just commenting on her outstanding play and you brought on the comparisons, as if you were upset someone else was getting some press. I would ask...why? Why did you go right to comparisons as soon as someone says something good about a kid you haven't seen play? That's insulting to the kid and the person that was giving the thoughts. As if "she can't be as good as the kids down here and those NKY folks ain't ever seen real talent!"

You keep saying I'm sure she is good "but". I get it. I have seen some of the best in the state. I have seen some of the best in the country. I'm telling you she is very good, regardless how good the Jefferson Co kids are. You tell me who the best SS is in Jefferson co and I've probably seen them. I'll tell you how this young lady compares. I saw the SS from Woodford last year that went to UL. I saw the SS from Davies that went to UK. We have a ss in NKY that is committed to UK. We played just about every top team (or saw them play) last year and this kid is as good defensively as anyone I saw and only a freshman. I remember reading conversations last year that you were in that you challenge the validity of others. You make it sound like you would like to see them play but them question who and where they play and always insinuate that others are better. I have no reason to back this kid. I coach Highlands and they just kicked our tails. I know talent and she has got a ton!!! Yes, she is that good and I would put her up against anyone I've seen in the state defensively. It's okay that there are other really good players outside of Jefferson co. If you want to tell me who the kids are that you are talking about and who they play for, I may know them or have seen them. I can give you a straight up comparison.

I believe Kaos, but I may be wrong. Keep in mind, she's only been in the states a little over a year and only will be here for one more. I think Cooper only signed her for a three year deal! Lol! Actually the story I got is her dad works for Toyota and is here for a 3 year stint. Others may have more on that. Heck, maybe she'll end up at Scott Co! I can tell you last year we played almost all the good teams in KY and i didn't see anyone with her skills defensively.

Let me attest. I have traveled all over the country with my daughter, seeing kids play at a VERY high level. I have seen many of the best players in the state. My daughter was one of the best defensive SS in the state last year. I'm telling you, this kid is VERY good and Very fun to watch and she's only a freshman. She is extremely skilled and has the instincts of an elite player. She has all the tools. She is as good as advertised. And just an outstanding kid too.

Is it a different feeling than the last two years or was your daughter not of age for those two hires?

The fact that "strings can be pulled" is an administrative problem somewhere. Someone is allowing it to happen. You either back your coaches and your hiring decisions or you let "strings get pulled". That alone is an issue. The way that the old coach was handled (when they made the hire of Chip) was also an administrative issue. When you let the inmates run the asylum, there are issues. Like another poster said, it's not just softball.

What's odd is the old coach was kinda pushed aside to bring Chip in. Something is weird about the situation. I can imagine Chip's style would be to push hard for success. Was that just too aggressive for where the program is at this time?

Well I'm glad you said "most" because I know I try to weigh all that and also my opinion on who is the better player. Stats only tell part of the story. But I can't say that I haven't been surprised many times in the voting. Unfortunately, it's who gets the stats and who gets hyped a lot and you're right, it's sad. Heck, last year my pitcher only allowed 1 earned run (12 total for the year including the regional tournament) to a NKY team the entire year and ended the vote for player of the year at about 7th. She completely dominated her NKY competition and was nowhere in the running! We also had arguably the one of the best SS in the state and a huge difference maker on defense and she ended up about 5th. And our first basemen (who had become one of he best defensive first basemen in the region) out hit one of the players of the year that was on her own team. I'm glad one of our players got it, but I think they would even tell you one of the others probably should have that year. There were co-players of the year. The other was a pitcher. Its all habit and hype. I think some put too much stock into the stats and don't look at anything else and others just look at names they know.

Have to agree again. If she pitched for me and we were playing a team of that caliber, I don't care if I have to put a peach basket back there, she's pitching! Competition is why you play the game! Challenging yourself to see where you stand and what you need to work on is why sports are fun! I don't get the catcher reasoning either. Something doesn't smell right. If people are worried about stat stuffing and avoiding things that can effect you personally, then we are in a very sad world. (and no, I'm not naïve enough to think that doesn't happen all over the place. But it still doesn't make it right). Just heard a quote over the weekend..."why didn't you let my daughter play in that game? (against a not so good team) That was a stat stuffer game!" I mean just WOW!

I have to agree here. Isn't this why you play these types of teams? Why play them if you don't throw your best and try to win? You play these types of teams as a measuring stick to see where you are and how you match up. It's makes for a memorable game for the kids. But if you don't start your best, then it goes from being nice memory (win or lose) to "I have no idea what we could have done against them" and kind of meaningless game. Almost a "well if we would have done X that day, we could have competed." Well now you'll never know. It makes no sense to me.

And I can't believe after all this you still think it's because we can't play in it!!

Don't tell him that. I like to surprise attack people with that so they can't get away!!

I was going to have you look me up! We play them in our second game (their first) tonight. I coach Highlands.
