  1. According to the scoreboard, there were 37 games played last night. Only 5 of them where the winning team scored only two TDs or less. And many teams that scored way more than that! So it would appear to me that the mass majority of the state's winning teams had little issue with the weather.
  2. Why do you say that? Based on what? They won 7-0 last night and didn't even score til late in the game against a 2a opponent. I'm not knocking them, but why would you clearly place them 3? On what bases?
  3. I'm not one giving up on Ryle just yet. In fact I think I liked one of your posts stating that you didn't think hhs should be in front of Ryle at this point (or something like that) Too many question marks for HHs and some of them were answered last night. They got whipped and have a long way to go! However, if Ryle played SC last night...are you saying they wouldnt have been whipped? Nky football just isn't very good right now in my opinion. We'll have some teams make a run in their class, but holistically, it's not good.
  4. Yep, high expectations. But you know that going in. It's not like you're surprised when it happens. You know EXACTLY what you are getting into when you take the job. Would there be high expectations taking the Trinity job? The X job? Male? BG? And others with lines of success?
  5. Now hold on...many of us said we felt that ranking was too high this early in the season. I think there are a lot of examples where people mistake others as being HHS fans. Not saying some weren't gloating about it. I have no idea. But I do know there were many that questioned it as well. But just for giggles....what other NKY team wouldn't get whipped by SC this year other than Cov Cath and MAYBE SK. (Which would still get beat but maybe not whipped)
  6. We've seen SC have plenty of easy nights. You recall any others against NKY teams?
  7. So why do you wish the Birds luck and then trash them in the updates?
  8. I think this week comes down to two things for HHS and their fans...or at least two tests that I'd like to see play out win or lose. What can the defense do against a very good athletic offense (so realistically how good is this new and improved defense) and will they open up the offense more? Every new year a work in progress and this game will provide us some answers to those things...again win or lose. But this is exactly why you play these types of teams and games.
  9. I agree! Coach Wiggins and their program are doing great things every time they take the field. Just a few short years ago, we were talking about them folding up shop! Now we are debating on whether they should be on a top ten list. Just an outstanding accomplishment by the staff and kids!
  10. I'm still in your boat right now too. Regardless of the early struggles, I'm not sold they still aren't up there in third.
  11. I agree Birds may be a little too high. We'll know more about the Birds after this week. Not by whether they win or lose and maybe not even a final score, but how they actually play against a team like SC. I still question their defense. Can they make stops or have they just not faced really good offenses yet. Not taking anything from Campbell, but we really don't know how good they actually are yet. So even though the defense appears to be stronger and doing some good things, this week will gives us a better indication. And they have been very conservative on offense so far. Will be interesting to see if they open that up a little this week. You have to score against SC to have a chance.
  12. I feel like you could copy and paste this about them every year!
  13. It's tough because they are so good at what they do. They throw enough to keep you honest and have athletes that can make plays. (Usually...and I have no reason to believe this would be any different). So I feel like they put you in positions to take chances and they can react when you do. So I feel like they create a cat and mouse game and when you guess right, you look good. And when you guess wrong, they can make you look really bad really fast!
  14. All I can do is go off the past, but they tend to have a stable of running back and that usually includes the QB. Typically they are speedsters with some power. They don't pass much. They don't need to! But I haven't seen or heard too much yet this year.
  15. Homered? Hahahahahahaha. I mean I really cannot believe the excuses. It was a GREAT game! Can't we just leave it at that? Again, both side can look back and find bad calls and mistakes their team made. Quit with the excuses. In my opinion, Campbell co dominated that game for about 3 quarters of it. But the reality is, if the Birds extra point execution doesn't have a breakdown, we don't even go to overtime. See how this works with all the "ifs, and's and but's"?
  16. But you've heard the saying..."if my aunt had....she'd be my uncle!"
  17. That's good news. Another opportunity to be challenged and get better.
  18. I had heard how good Dowd was and he is a really nice player. However, IMO, the blue collar worker on that offense is Grant Jolly. He is fun to watch. He's everywhere and runs hard! I thought there were some questionable offensive calls on both sides. Maybe it's just early and not ready to turn it all loose, but I sure had to scratch my head a few times tonight.
  19. There were things on both sides. Don't take a great game and make excuses. It was a hard fought game and somebody had to win.
  20. I hear ya. I think you play equal or better though. And I also hear you about Beechwood. But many schools lose kids to Beechwood. Most of that is probably not always sports related. But I still don't think a team that is striving to be an elite 6A team in the state should have any 1A school on their schedule...regardless who that 1A team is. With the size of SK and the growth of that community, they should be striving to compete with Trinity, Male, St X and Scott Co every year. It may not ever happen, but that's what at program like that should be at least striving for. If sure doesn't appear that way though. Take more chances, go get your but whipped and let a team expose your true weaknesses. Go see real team speed for at least 2-3 games in a season. Then come back and fix it. If you don't, all that gets exposed in situations where it's too late to address it.
