  1. I was going to say...they would most likely be the favorite in a girl's tournament!
  2. ...and yes, hasn't played a down this year yet. But if that's who you're talking about then that wouldn't be the case. He didn't play any varsity so how would they be playing him down at the JV level as a freshman last year?? But nice try!
  3. Give me a name and maybe I can answer your question.
  4. I agree with much is what has been said! It should be good insight to both teams and the outcome will depend a lot on who is available for HHS.
  5. This is where they still have a shot. Even though there is at least one receiver down this week, it's the least injured of all the attacks. If they can get at least a threat from the running game, the passing game could be their savior. With the defense banged up, I think they'll have to outscore Ryle to win. Cause I'm not sure they will slow down Chisholm and England this week.
  6. Didn't someone ask about the injuries to the Birds? They have many injuries and are really banged up at key positions. That's the answer to the question. How would you want him to answer? The good thing is these kids are going to get baptized now and may be able to contribute when it means something. The more depth you have in the playoffs the better you'll be. There aren't many programs that could survive what they are going through right now. It's part of the game and you just do your best to stay competitive until you get your guys back. This happens from time to time and it makes you better in the long run but can result in a couple tough weeks when you play good competition.
  7. Until now?? This is a JV thread and we are talking about why hhs is not crumbling. Not about this JV game. Again, its not an indication of a crumbling program when the program is decimated with injuries. Not excuses. I'm using facts to dispute that comment. How else would you dispute that comment???
  8. Again, I don't care what other programs do. My entire and only reason for posting on this thread was to dispute the fact that this result leads to no indication as to the silly comment earlier in the thread. It was a haters comment that has no truth to it at all if you really know any facts. Sounds familiar on this day and age!
  9. Apparently you didn't read the whole thread. I could care less about the JV game. I don't know that I've even ever replied to a JV thread. What I'm addressing is the comment about the program continuing to crumble. Others jumped in and had their say...hence where we are now. My point was that this JV result has zero impact on where the program is now. It's not a indication that Rome continues to fall and its a silly statement when you have no idea what you're talking about.
  10. We call them facts. You and everyone else can call it whatever you want. But if you know the makeup of this team, they are facts. And if you know how HHS approaches JV games, you would know that with all the injuries at the varsity level, they wouldn't think about playing anyone in that JV game that even has a chance to fill shoes on the varsity. Also, the kid playing QB in the JV game is now second string varsity. He is a dymaic player. If you were there, you would have seen how vanilla their offense was. There was a reason for that. First as stated, you had a RB that hasn't played RB so the play calling was VERY basic. But secondly you had a QB plying "just to get through the game without injury" because he is now #2 on varsity! They did nothing to put him in any kind of harms way. And as I mentioned, he can be dynamic. The point, no one at HHS cares about the outcome of JV events except the parents and the kids that play in the game. It's typically where the sophomores that work their tails off all week get to release on someone else. In the case now due to the massive injury bug that has hit HHS, the top 10-12 sophomores are either playing up or hurt. So not even the best sophomores are even dressing JV. Also, HHS had kids playing positions yesterday that they don't even play. And I don't mean a couple of them. Many! Again, call it excuses or call it the continued crumbling of the program. But I can tell you that you have no idea what you're talking about. And the reason most of you don't know have of this stuff is because HHS doesn't give excuses. I bet that most have no idea that the projected starting running back for this season hasn't played a down yet. Or that one of the top players in NKY hasn't played a down yet. Or that 5-6 starters on defense are hurt. Some will know some of that but many have no clue because HHS fans don't come on here and tell you why it's gonna impact them or use it for excuses after a game. You tell me what team would have success with the first two RBs out, 5-6 starters on defense out and maybe their best all-around player out. Including some other key injuries that o didn't mention. It's not excuses, it's facts right now. It's unfortunate, but people aren't seeing HHS at even close to full strength right now. If this were many other programs, we'd be hearing it every day all day. And spare me the "injuries happen" lines. Yes, I know. But when it hits you like it has HHS right now with key injuries and many of them, it is a factor in the entire program and they are in sustain mode and getting other kids ready for spots they never dreamed they were going to have to play on the varsity level this year.
  11. Roster size doesn't always equal quality players. Look... I don't care about JV football and honestly don't even care about Beechwood til playoffs. My point is the statement about "the collapse continues" is not even close. There was a lot going on on the HHS sideline today. You can't make a statement like that on a JV game that means absolutely nothing and was played very conservative from the HHS. That's my point. HHS put zero stock in JV games. It's time for the non varsity players (and remember they two platoon on the varsity) to play. That's it.
  12. Exactly. Those guys are good enough to play varsity and several others have been moved up to fill varsity spots for the injured. HHS doesn't play those kids at the JV level. Regardless what grade they are in. So when your young talent moves up to fill a ton of holes on the varsity roster, your younger levels will naturally be a little depleted. JV means nothing week to week other than to give the kids that didn't see varsity time that week a chance to play. Each week you can have a different team on the field.
  13. What schoolsnin KY have 2-3 thousand kids? The biggest school in KY is Scott Co with around 2400. Then the rest are in the teens I think. Haven't looked this year yet.
  14. Yea, I really didn't know. That's not really that small for a good running back. They'd surely put on a few more pounds at the next level and RB is so much about instinct and quick thinking. Of course quickness and speed help, but good decision and reaction is huge no matter how fast you are. I'm rooting for both. Enjoy watching both of them play.
  15. You do realize HHS is battling a ton of injuries right now right?
  16. What's the size on each of them? (Dowd and Chisholm?)
  17. So did SK fumble on the 1 or did they work to get down there? You do realize SK only scored twice right?
  18. Could have swore I saw nice run for a TD from their running back on the highlights! Was that not Conner?
  19. How can you say that? Many across the state played in the same weather and had no problem scoring. You have no idea what the score would have been. Why do you always discredit your opponent when SK doesn't win in a blowout? I saw the highlights. SK was in white and they didn't look muddy. They looked wet, but not muddy. And honestly, the field didn't really look as bad as some are making it out to be. Every team in three states that played last night were wet. Why didn't your big boys take over in the trenches. Seems like a team with a line like that should like that weather and be able to slam it down the throat of a much lesser opponent. (If you feel Conner was really that much lesser of an opponent that SK). It was a good game, both teams played in the same conditions and the game could have been won by either team.
  20. State Champ in 1A does mean that they were the best team in 1A last year. That's all it counts for. And I hope they win it again! But that doesn't mean they are better than other teams that didn't win state in much higher divisions. We have no idea what they will look like this year against those teams until they play someone even close to that level.
  21. Saying a team is having a down year or rebuilding has nothing to do with the conversation. The conversation is who is better at this point in the year? A down team can still be better than an up team. It depends on where both teams started. So far Beechwood hasn't proven anything on the field yet. We don't know how good they are yet. We will find out soon.
  22. Having good players doesnt always make you a good team. Right now, tell me why they are a good team? What have they done so far to prove that? Could have very easily lost last night to the 10th rated 2a team. So what makes you think they can roll with the big boys so far? Because they should be good? We'll have to wait and see. So far "should" and " are" can be two different things. I root for Beechwood. My point is, except for Cov Cath, I don't think there is even a clear number 2 in NKY at this point. Sure, I would lean towards SK, but I'm not sold on them either yet. With who teams have faced so far, I think there are some false securities and some teams that are better than they are getting credit for.
