  1. I heard at the 10th region boys tournament last night that St. Patricks coaching position was open.
  2. GRC will be a tough out at Rupp with how they defend and spread the floor on offense. They have what teams must have in March- they have guards. Bopper Stenzel is by far the most versatile point guard I have seen all year. He can control the game and knows when to drive it, pull up and shoot it, hit the open man and it never hurts to have a post player to dump it down to. The only weakness that might affect the Cards next week is if they have to go to their bench. The good part of that is they drew in the top bracket and will have a day off should they win their opener. You can be creative in how you supbstitute with a 7 man rotation. Congrats to GRC.
  3. With the run that Montgomery has had over the last decade, nothing replaces experience in presenting the hardware:cool:
  4. Hope Coach Hundley gets it done. If not it is always a treat to watch Hicks whine on the sidelines at Rupp.
  5. One name I seen in the above conversation on who the official was says enough for me. I would have loved to hear the rebroadcast from Dicky Martin with the Ashland station. Its hard telling what that man said!
  6. Totally agree! Also I believe in the discussion about the unsportsmanlike especially with the 3 goggles, its the officials that really want to be noticed. Please- these kids watch it everyday on the tv and there is never any penalty. Some officials want to be recognized as well and that is not only in this game but in a lot of games as well. I have known of officials turning around and cussing at fans- that is unprofessional as well as unsportsmanlike.
  7. My observations from this game last night include: Bopper Stenzel is the head of snake for GRC, without him on the floor, the Cards would be very average. He is a one man press breaker, he knows how to use his body to avoid the ever debatable charging call these days when getting to the rim, and he has improved his jumper. In my opinion, he has a better overall game than his brother Robbie did at GRC and I am sure that is debatable to a lot of folks from Winchester but remember just one persons opinion. I feel very comfortable in saying that he is more important to his team than Robbie was with the group that he played with. This is not a knock on Robbie, heck I can remember hearing comments that the class that graduated a year ago resembled a small college team. This years bunch without Bopper falls off a great deal. Charlie Rogers is a defensive stopper and gives fits to whoever he is guarding. Anytime he can give you 10 points in a game, thats a bonus. Fatkin should of been playing more minutes for last years GRC team and if so it would be scary to see how good he can be. Only thing I see that he needs to work on is that he walks every time he puts the ball on the floor in the paint as its followed with a hop, but still a nice player. Hard to believe the Howard kid was shooting hoops at the YMCA a year ago and now he has had two big regional games. Should be a very entertaining game in the finals tonight.
  8. How do you know AndOneDad is a diehard from a particular school?
  9. Exactly, couldn't have happened to a better man. Congrats Coach Bradley! Best of luck in Bowling Green.
  10. No they do not have control over the weather, but with the boys state tournament a week after the girls they did have control on deciding whether the girls could keep their Saturday night championship game that for many years they had tried to get. Now they get it and were denied of this by a closed door vote. There was plenty of time to play the boys tournament.
  11. Everyone knows that these games will be played. One thought that comes to my mind is about the ACT testing. Has this always been in March? So much for the closed door meetings between the admins at the draw....where no games would be played on a Monday night when they still will be tonight. The only thing that meeting accomplished was to take a Saturday night finals away from the girls tournament.
  12. It will interesting to see how Clark County starts out of the gates in this one. If the officials call the hand checks against Clark then it will be battle at the foul line. Campbell County will haven no one to answer Fatkin in my opinion and it will be interesting to see if whoever guards McGovney and how well they contain him. The role players for Clark stepped up huge in the Augusta win, if this happens mondaynightit will be season done for Campbell. If not, this one will be close in my opinion.
  13. Congrats to Montgomery County, your program and the run that you all have sustained is remarkable. Best of luck next week in Bowling Green. To Campbell County, nothing to hang you heads about, to lose a go to girl during the season and pull together and make a run to the region finals is impressive. To Coach Mike Murray, great job in your first season in Alexandria. Campbell folks should feel blessed to have Mike as your Lady Camels head coach
  14. Could someone tell me what the arena holds? I have taken in a few games and have yet to see the place full.
