  1. I am not saying that this one single experience makes a leader but if you have multiple divisions it sure would help, you do not think a kid that would get to play in that atmosphere could not take that experience and use it later in life possibly from a leadership perspective? if they do not get the chance then certainly they will NOT. Not sure of your playing experience but I did play in a state that crowned multiple champions and get this a lot of those people are leaders today! Not saying that is why but I know from a personal experience it helped a lot of individuals,
  2. I just hope the Walton players and coaches believe, then they I believe have a very good chance to knock off ANY team in KY.
  3. Looked to me that ND attempted a double pick at the top of the key and either Jones or Hill deflected and then the other passed the ball to Sydney who was over half court, if you watched how Boone came out they put Moss on the other side of half court away from defending. It seemed like coach Fookes was confident her team would get the steal and then attacked with Moss past the half court line, now the take from there was how they would write it in Hollywood, behind back, fake left then cross over right to finish and get fouled. That was an incredible 7 seconds. Syndney Moss was a class act tonight and seems to be a young women with a lot of character and dignity.
  4. Agreed, this young lady plays hard and has the competitive drive to be a great player on any team.
  5. No not getting into coaching but if I did I would not want to be known for winning a game 10/8 because I told my players not to attack. Would much rather lose by 20 than win like that any day of week, call me an idiot but at least my players would have walked away knowing they tried their hardest. Is it better coaching a game being convinced your team can't beat an opponent?
  6. Not so sure, think about it, if Highlands plays to their full potential are they not capable of beating Norte Dame? This approach I do agree sends a message that if we don't slow we can't win! Sorry just can't get over not playing hard win or lose. I would rather lose by 20 trying than win by 2 because I fooled the other team. Coach, believe and possibly your team can go on a run, winning this game this way would have lead Higlands to worse lost the next game. I am not the coach and I am sure in her heart she meant well and wanted to win the game.
  7. I do think a team should have to kick to a return threat just like I would never tell that person when you get the ball lay down. I agree this is my opinion and normally I believe in being positive but truly does anyone believe telling kids that have been schooled to go out and play better than your opponent lay down a good game?
  8. How is holding back a perspective D 1 player in Schafer a good game plan? Plus Highlands has other very good players.
  9. Not trying to suggest it was cheating, coaches do coach to win but to expect your ball club to slow down a complete game to win then that goes against everything they have been taught since the their first competitive game, did the coach feel her team could not compete attacking and defending? If you win a game like this what is the next game plan? Just think it goes against the basic principle of the game which is to score more points than your opponent. With the approach tonight when were they suppose to turn it on and how do you motive your team for the next game?
  10. Is winning a game worth comprising dignity, I wonder if any of these kids every played before with their coach holding back play. Leah Schafer averaged more points per game this year than the game total. Don't like it and I believe it is a sour way to end the season! Let your kids play and win with pride and lose with dignity!
  11. Thanks, I played and coached previously but a job promotion has brought me here. Seems like a great area and look forward to raising my family here.
  12. I think one of these two teams play for the Region title, CC wins by 5+ tomorrow! I think the best team lost yesterday and is a shame they will not compete for the region title. This district has three of the top five teams in region, same thing with the 33rd for the girls, 3 of the top 5 teams and one is outside looking in. Holy Cross is certainly one the best 8 teams in the region.
  13. I am not questioning anyone's reasons just was curious about the rules. Sounds to be all discussed and approved so I apologize for bringing up a sensitive subject.
  14. Thanks Clyde I respectively understand. Congrats to Ryle for winning, Boone on a great season and all the players that competed. I love HS sports and NKY seems to be a hot bed for talent. Nice area to be relocated to.
  15. I am new to NKY sports but found something interesting I overheard this evening at another game about Ryle and Boone rosters. It was stated and I am paraphrasing that Ryle has a Walton resident and Cooper resident playing on their team. Boone has a Ryle resident playing for Boone. I am not questioning anyone's reasons but my experience with HS sports is that kids play within their district? Are parents and players allowed to chose who they play for in KY?
  16. In 2012 the best PG I have watched is Abby Owens (SK) followed by Chandler Clark (ND). Castleberry from Conner can be very good. You have to love the drive of the Walton point Guard, Ginn? NCC point is very athletic.
  17. Agreed and maybe it should be Top 7 and of course then there are the players ready to compete for those spots. I just wanted to give what I thought were the strongest 5 girls in the region. They are all very talented and a lot of good ball players after this list. I wish I all these young women the best of luck in the future!
  18. I agree Voskuhl is debatable but she lacks Peacocks athleticism, Peacock is averaging 15.6 and 6.7 rebounds. I think you have the top players correct! Daley plays well but I would like to see her play without Schafer. Over the course of this season Peacock has been Conner's primary player.
  19. Sorry, meant Campbell.
  20. Anthony Parker is top 5 in defense and I believe 7th in offenseive Cincinnati.com stats. He impacts both sides of the floor and for that reason alone he is POY. Hatton is a very good offensive player but I feel he needs to improve on the defensive side of the ball. It is crazy he is only a sophomore and I think he is one of the top players in the state his senior year.
  21. In the top 10 in both defensive and offensive categories, Nate definitely gets my vote.
  22. Moss, Crittendon, Schafer, Kiernan, Peacock, Could argue Nash and Voskuhl as well.
  23. Moss, Critenden, Schafer, Keirnan, Peacock! i apologize if I have incorrectly spelled a name! Thoughts?
  24. Dawn Peacock is a top 5 player in region 9!
  25. This team is capable of pulling off multiple upsets as they did at their holiday tourney. If they can find a way to capture that intensity then I still believe they can challenge. Comes down basically to one game and I believe coach Stamm will have a game plan but the girls will need to execute. When they were playing at their best the ora was one of coaches and players believing in each other. I think they need to find that and they can beat some good teams. I wish the Lady Cougars and all the region 9 teams the best of luck. I have enjoy watching all these teams play and I think girls basketball in NKY is as good as any area in the state!
