Top Soccer Schools This Year - Boys and Girls
I am not sure about the JV Tournament. I did not hear anything about that and I don't follow NewCath soccer very much. I just new that their numbers were down this year and don't think they were expected to win as many games as they did. Everyone knew that NDA and St.Henry were going to be 1 and 2 in any order. By now, around here, it is expected of them. I know that is not their fault but that is the way some people will look at it. I would have to disagree that BB or St. Henry have played a tougher schedule than NCC. I would say pretty even on those 3. Notre Dame schedule is by far the toughest.

Sorry my previous post was for NKY. Don't know much about the rest of the state.

Top Soccer Schools This Year - Boys and Girls
With Cov Cath's style of play, coaching and talent, they would be my favorite for the boys. Had a bad loss to Highlands but they are the best team in NKY. For girls I would say Notre Dame is the favorite and I would go with Brossart as a sleeper. NKY Boys Player of the Year should be split between Luke Treadway and Aven Harper. Harper doesn't get much love playing for Pendleton County but he is a great player. Treadway: 26 goals, 6 assist Harper: 30 goals, 18 assist NKY Girls Player of the Year should be Libby Leedom from Saint Henry but could receive some competition from Ellie Eckerle (Notre Dame) and Taylor Robinson (Campbell County). Girls coach of the year should go to Kevin Turnick of NCC. Boys coach of the year should go to Brian Goller of Bishop Brossart but Jeremy Roberts from Cov Cath could win it. I think Brian Goller is hands down my coach of the year. He will be a Kentucky High School Hall of Famer for soccer when it is all said and done. He has been coaching for over 15 years and has had a lot if success at a small school. One of the best guys coaching today.

Could Campbell County Boys Soccer Team go winless this season?
It all has to do with transportation for the underclass men. Getting bused home and then having to come back to school 2hrs later was too much from what I was told. They may have left it up to the head coach in the end but they would not change it.

Could Campbell County Boys Soccer Team go winless this season?
I have always heard the same thing about Coach Hitch, great person and great with the boys, but his knowledge of the game is lacking. I heard the same about Shipp. Raney also applied and was never considered. Sometimes I think they don't care much about the soccer program or don't have the budget to go out and higher a better coach. They have stepped up their coaching hires with Russell (Boys Basketball), Murray (Girls Basketball), and Lickert (Football). They are all proven winners. Dave Morris has proven he can win with the girls side although I don't always agree with his coaching style. You have to bring in a proven winner for the boys soccer program. You owe it to the boys who love playing the game. You have to either have some experience winning at the high school level or club level before I would even consider you for the position.

Could Campbell County Boys Soccer Team go winless this season?
Come on now. That is not what I am referring too. I am serious when I say "watch" the game. I have more class than that. I do not intend to get into physical altercations over BGP comments but calling me ignorant is not a good way to start.

Supposed to be played at CCHS.

Could Campbell County Boys Soccer Team go winless this season?
WE are waiting????? My conversation was with you and I told you we can discuss it during the game. I can point out my opinions of game management and positioning and play of players and then you can voice yours. I do not want to make this personal but as long as you keep attacking myself and my opinions then I am going to defend myself and my position on the subject. 3 years ago practices were scheduled for the freshman team right after school was let out. There was no late practices. When Larry was the freshman coach they were changed to later in the afternoon. The team did loose a lot of Seniors, who were the starters. You make it sound like they had boys from last years team just drop off and not even tryout. There may have been a couple but not actual Varsity starters from last year. This team is not as talented as in years past with Raney, Tanner, Alley, Lovelace, etc. but they still have talent there. Rice, Schneider's, Fro, Szovati and Sterbling are all really good players. There are other talented players on Varsity that are just young but if you cannot coach them up to beat teams like Calvary or a down Holy Cross then that is a problem. Close losses I can accept but complete blow outs, that's players and coaches at fault. I am not normally for only giving a coach 1 season but when you don't make changes that need to be made until almost seasons end then that's a problem. Most people understand that Fro is a much better defender and goalie than up front. The kids heart and will are awesome but better served on the defensive side not up front as a goal scorer. Its not just one single change that he should of made either. The kids are deflated and just don't look to be playing for him. That is not exactly his fault but he has to figure out a way of changing it. Defense has been their problem all year. If you look at their scores and watch games you could also say lack of offense but I don't believe that to be the case. Their midfielders sometimes don't have a clue to the style of play they are trying to play. They are either too far up on offense or giving too much depth at defense...that is coaching. They created a good number of chances in the Brossart game and thats because their defense was confident in their keeper. They were not playing scared. This was an actual statement from one of the starting defenders...."I was so confident when Hess was back there that I could play loose and not play scared but our keeper now is just not that good and he is only a Soph. I would feel more confident in our team if we had Fro playing keeper." Now this is just one young man's opinion but at lease he was voicing his concerns. memyselfandi, am I to take it that you would not like to watch the game with me this evening (if played, seems pretty wet)? I am confident in my abilities to evaluate a high school soccer game, are you with yours? I seem to be a little more open minded than you since I am willing to listen to your opinion on the subject with out calling you ignorant.

Do you have time?

Could Campbell County Boys Soccer Team go winless this season?
Volunteer my time you ask?...Well I was offered the freshman coaching position there 3 years ago and like many others in the coaching world I have a day job. I would have loved to accepted the position but could not because they would not allow me to change the practice time. I am sorry but I could not make it to the school at 3:00 or 3:30 when I have to work until 4:30. I don't know where you get the idea that I am bashing the program. I just said that I don't think Coach Hitch will be back next year. I didn't say that the players were horrible and had no talent. I just believe that they need to care a little more about who they hire and look outside the program and hire someone with more experience. I know the State does not require you to have a National Coaching License but no high school should be hiring a head soccer coach without one. You have to have one to coach on the Club level so the same should go for the high school level. I find it sad that I have to sit and listen to you bash me about my opinion. Why do you take it so personal anyway? Did you have a part in hiring Coach Hitch? At this point I am more than willing to discuss this with you at the game against Simon Kenton tonight. I will explain to you why I believe it is more coaching than the players if you would like.

Could Campbell County Boys Soccer Team go winless this season?
So you come on here to call me ignorant. I guarantee you I know just as much about this years team as you do. I know they lost their starting goalie in Hess, to the football team, and they also lost Wesley Collins since he moved. Not very much talent in the senior class either. You cannot tell me that a good coach takes 75% of the season to figure out that "Fro" should be playing goalie like he did against Brossart. They were trying to start a Soph goalie for over half the season that in my opinion wasn't very good. They looked like a totally different team against BBHS with Fro in goal. I think Hitch shouldn't be asked back because it doesn't look like the boys were "playing" for him. It is also obvious that he does not fully grasp the coaching concept either. You my friend should never come on here and refer to someone as ignorant when that person knows just as many facts about the subject as you. I am entitled to my own opinion and if you have to refer to me as ignorant for that opinion then that is your choice. I have no problem voicing my complaints of Coach Hitch to you or any other parents that are attending the games, I am there in the stands with you. No, I am not a disgruntled parent of a player. I don't have or have ever had a player on the team but I am alumni and like to support the soccer program I used to play for.

Could Campbell County Boys Soccer Team go winless this season?
It looks as though the Campbell County Boys Soccer team could go win-less this season. After loosing to Calvary 4-2 last night their remaining schedule is as follows. Ryle Simon Kenton Villa Madonna NCC I understand they have a new coach and not many seniors but there is no excuse for loosing every single game. They are not only getting beat but they are loosing by very large margins. There is enough talent there to at least win a few games. I don't think Coach Hitch will be making an appearance on the sidelines next season. Once again CCHS will be looking for another coach/teacher who they think can coach a "little bit". This is why some of their sports programs FAIL. They do not go out and look for the best, they just look to get by.

Bishop Brossart 2 Campbell County 1
Well played, physical game on both sides. Congrats Brossart! Hopefully we can see a rematch in the district championship.

Ok, since you decided to jump into the conversation, I will lay it out for you. "The girls that are on NCC Varsity that did play club pretty much played together on the same Kings Select team." The key words there being "pretty much played together". I didn't say all 4 played together. I wasn't sure about 1 girl and you clarified that for me....Thanks! . So much nit picking on this website about how you word something. If I meant all 4 played together, I would have said all 4 played together on the same team. I left myself some buffer room with the pretty much statement. So sorry that I didn't word it to your liking and I am so glad you could chime in and make everything right.

You might want to read my post again. I didn't ever say all 4 played together at Kings and how do you know that there are not 4 seniors that played club together on Varsity or even 4 juniors or 4 sophomores?

Brossart 5 Highlands 0
After attending the Varsity girls game last night between CCHS and NCC I was made aware that NCC only had 4 club soccer girls on their Varsity team. CCHS maybe had 6. So your point about these kids not playing together anymore is incorrect. The girls that are on NCC Varsity that did play club pretty much played together on the same Kings Select team. Here are the numbers for Freshman and JV with 7th & 8th graders playing on their team for each school in Campbell County. Campbell County Frosh 15 8th Graders No 7th Campbell County JV 0 8th Graders No 7th BBHS Frosh 6 8th Graders 3 7th Graders BBHS JV 0 8th Graders No 7th NCC Frosh NO ROSTER NCC JV 12 8th Graders No 7th Highlands Frosh 6 8th Graders No 7th Highlands JV 0 8th 0 7th If you ask me with the exception of NCC these numbers all look pretty even. So just based on the numbers and the fact that these 4 schools do not contain a number of club players on the varsity level, there shouldn't be that much of a big school/small school excuse for winning or losing.

Brossart 5 Highlands 0
I understand your point but I think we should just agree to disagree on this subject. Good luck to all the schools, no matter their size, during the rest of the season. Hopefully one of them can represent at State.

Brossart 5 Highlands 0
Ok first of all there are no 6th graders on any of those teams nor should there be but i think you know that already. Second of all I need to tell you again that I just said SOME BBHS fans are arrogant. Third, I never said that they had just as many girls trying out as Highlands or Notre Dame. I meant that the quality of players based on their own talents and teamwork from playing together through grade school gave them just as much advantage as the amount of kids to pull from. Quality over quantity! Are you going to use the small school excuse if they loose to teams like CCHS, Highlands, or Dixie? That's why I think that no matter the size of the school, a win is a win and a loss is a loss. In the end a fan from any of the 4 in Campbell County should want one of them representing at State! I am not a hater of the Mustangs was actually disappointed that they lost to St. Henry in the All "A".

You might want to read my post again. I gave Brossart their due. They are talented and they have a great group of girls there right now. I cannot believe how people want to still compare this big school/small school stuff. This was put to bed in the 90's as far as soccer goes. Most of the diocese schools in NKY are beating larger schools and have been for some time now. No matter the school size most of these schools still field a Freshman, JV, and Varsity team. The pool of soccer players to choose from is really not that different from Highlands, NCC, Brossart, St. Henry, or Notre Dame. The schools like St. Mary's and St. Joe's (just naming those 2) have great youth teams that play together all through grade school (although they play in a crap ran league). There is something to be said for playing together for several years coming up through grade school. Its a shame that the districts are all split up. Wouldn't it be great to have BBHS, NCC, Highlands, and CCHS all in the same district? That's the way it should be. We are all rivals and it makes for good competition among the teams on the field and the banter between fans. I don't disparage any of those teams on here no matter who they are playing, I only stated my opinion of SOME fans of BBHS.

Wow NCC fan also speaking on the topic of arrogance!

Totally agree with you Jack. Give Highlands a couple of years or so and lookout. This is not a statement being said because the varsity is down this year, its being said to assure you that they are not going to be down for years to come BlueKrush. The Mustangs are riding high the last few years with great talent coming through the system and girls that really play hard. I give them credit, they always seem to field a very tough team but the arrogance from some of their fans is crazy. I will be glad when my girls are wearing the blue and white and hopefully knocking the Stangs off of their saddle. Not sure what these teams who are beating Highlands right now are going to think when the Birds start fielding a team of starters who play in Division 1 or TPL for their respective club teams. Hopefully that can translate into State Championships.

Highlands 2012
That was the 1991 season and Matt Huddleston was a soph. He may have dressed for a couple of varsity games the season before though.

Who will be the top teams in NKY girls soccer this year???
Because I don't think the varsity coach is getting much out of the talent that they have there. They were so used to speed last year that the style of play was to just play kick ball to Weyer and hope that she could beat the defense. They had more pieces to the team than just her but they seemed to play this style everytime they got in trouble instead of being patient and possessing the ball a little more. Highlands girls soccer was always usually in the top 3 and at least in the top 5 but over the last couple of seasons they are only in the top 10 in NKY. This will need to change and I don't think that the varsity coach can make this happen. The girls probably will not be able to help much this year because most are freshman/sophs. They should be ready to make their mark on the varsity level next year.

Who will be the top teams in NKY girls soccer this year???
Highlands will be back after this year. Their upcoming classes are really stacked. They probably need a varsity coaching change after this season if they want to maximize the full potential of these girls. They should really challenge Notre Dame in the next few years with the talent they have coming through. They will be loaded with high level Kings Academy and Hammer FC girls.

Highlands 4 Beechwood 3
I wasn't aware that posting a game thread on BGP made you the official scorekeeper for that team. That's pretty neat! One fan thinks its a hit so the team is padding their averages? Pretty brilliant analysis.
