Cooper 79 Newport 70
Big Fundamental replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Cooper had 10 total fouls in the game. The officials did NOT impact this game, besides the technical called on Harding that fouled him out in the 3rd quarter. Newport outplayed Cooper in the 4th. McGuire also sat a long period of time for unknown reasons. That said, Cooper was clearly challenged by their coach at halftime and those boys responded. Houston was phenomenal, and Walters was very efficient. Spencer controlled the game on the offensive side, and Centers came in off the bench and executed his role perfectly. As usual, the Cooper defense was pretty darn good, even though Newport executed in 3 of 4 quarters and was able to score 70 on them, which was a little surprising. Cooper certainly a top team in the state, and Sullivan has his guys ready to compete for another region. -
Conner is battling. Scott is back correct? Otte has those boys playing hard & well!

Mayfield Vs. UHA (UHA gets Mayfield back as KyKy explodes in final) Some really good All A teams this year, including the 8 listed above. Seems like many have been ranked in the top 20 in the state at some point.

Sisson is a beast. I was wondering how Mullikin would fare, as he is very productive in his own right. Are the Birds learning how to play without Vinson? Seem to be competing/winning more recently, than when he first went down. Solid job by the staff to replace his performance/production. -

I keep seeing the 9th is “weak” this year, but it’s supposed top 4 teams have all been ranked in the top 20 in the state. The top 2, CCH/Cooper have been top 5-10. The 9th may be more competitively balanced than past years, but it isn’t weak, imo. -
Holmes 74 Covington Holy Cross 55

I believe both of these teams are teams on the rise. I don’t believe Holmes is 20 points better than HC, but last night they were. That’s how the game is sometimes. Both will be better going forward. -

How are Cody/Rusch playing? -
Woww. 4 OTs in a JV game. The crowd was either very intrigued, or quite the opposite. Lol!

Where is this game? How is Sisson doing? Are Vinson/Leigh back?

Are people really trying to justify Beechwood being better? I don’t see it as that. Just discussing the game. If that is the case, I don’t see it. Both are evenly matched would be my observation. Two really nice teams. That was a HUGE atmosphere, and Beechwood was at home, at full strength. Newport found a way to win without McGuire for the first half. A closely contested, heated battle

Newport/Beechwood prediction
Big Fundamental replied to Red Tiger 17's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Beechwood is much, much better than last year. Bieger adds a tough, aggressive, guard that can handle the ball. Brannen, Draud, Deathrage all back and more seasoned. Busald is a knock down shooter. Newport lost its best player from last years game. Though their 3 seniors are really nice! The difference. Beechwood at home. -

Is Downton going to play? Heard he left the Holmes game early... -
Newport/Beechwood prediction

On the road, All A tournament, in this atmosphere between 2 really good teams, the deciding factor is typically the home court advantage. Beechwood May also have a deeper bench. That said, if Newport can stay out of foul trouble, they should have a chance. Who is the best player in this matchup? Draud? Or, Harding? Or, McGuire? Or, Miller? Or, Brannen? -
