I could be wrong, but this should be a very good game. Holmes is certainly favored, however, I think Ryle can be competitive and keep it close.

Well, hate to hear that. Still glad they are having some success though! I have watched that group of Juniors since they were in 5th and 6th grade. They all have worked very hard and have improved their game so much over the years. Hopefully, they can keep things in the win column :thumb:

6 pages, hours and energy wasted by misinformed, and/or jealous and/or selfish haters...and still the ALL A is a wonderful, exciting tournament that when is complete there is a state champ of a statewide tournament. If folks want to keep banging their head against a wall that cannot be moved or changed, so be it. Futility at it's greatest.

Congrats Ryle! It doesn't seem that long ago when there was some "rumblings" about coaching. Sounds like all we needed was some patience. Glad those girls got things going on! Keep it up Ryle!

What we have here is a relative discussion.... If you are comparing Walton's roster to NBA athletes, then yes, they lack athleticism...along with length, speed, strength...etc. Of course we all agree. Since that is far fetched and kind of a silly comparison, let's reel it in. If you are comparing Walton's roster to some high school teams, even in just NKY, yes I can agree that Walton's roster would be less "athletic". Believe me, I have no problem with admitting that. You don't know me personally, but if you did, you would know I'm telling you the truth. My point is that this is "relative". Just as there will be teams more athletic, there will be teams not as athletic. We can all agree on that. Now, back to the earlier discussion and why I asked the question in post 19. I thought it was ironic, and kind of funny, that a Grant County (fan/resident/parent/supporter/whoever) would come out with "observations" of limited athleticism, no speed, can't defend, no one could stop Wright, and don't have anyone who can make plays RIGHT AFTER Walton just cleaned their home court up with Grant. In fact Grant had no one to keep up with Simpson and Dezarn. No on could stop Ison. Mills was drilling three's in people's face. No one could box out Luebbe. And grant barely managed to score 40 points on their defense. And if Wimpy in strips wasn't dreaming about hamburgers while trying to call the game, Walton, one of the top free throw shooting teams in the state, would have scored 70. THIS is exactly why I was a little polite and passive, leading up the my question..."Are you trying to say that Walton doesn't have any athletes that can make plays and defend?" It was NOT to defend Walton' athleticism as much as it was to lead into this point....THAT WALTON OBVIOUSLY HAD ENOUGH ATHLETES TO SPANK GRANT! Outside looking in never answered the question to take the bait and allow me to say... Sure, Walton lacks athleticism when compared to some other teams...but compared to Grant tonight, they seemed pretty "athletic".

Well now your changing gears...we were not talking about ability to advance in the post season. We were talking about reasons for the "ups" and "downs". I think I'm catching on though...Let me review... Your reason for ups and downs - no athleticism. Next. Your reason for not advancing in post season - no athleticism. Are you trying to say Walton doesn't have any athletes that can make plays and defend? :idunno:

I guess I don't see it too much of ups and downs as I do learning curves. Learning to play with new point guards after losing a 4 year starter at point. Learning to play on the road with sufficient and consistent energy (last night was only their 3rd road game). Two major players learning invaluable experience after missing an entire season. Learning to play with a certain line up due to injuries. Relearning to play when players are back available from injuries. Learning who works best where. And just for you...learning how to look quicker for those observing. There is a lot to learn before districts and I think that the schedule they played has given them a lot of valuable lessons. Walton could have easily played a much softer schedule, and "appeared" to have more ups, however, they would not have had the lessons to get better like they have had. Some may call those downs, and some where, but many were just learning experiences.

No apologies are needed or expected for having an opinion. I just thought it would be proper to ask first before I jumped to any conclusion. Since your observation is not fully accurate, it caused me to wonder about your intentions.

Agreed! DeZarn is playing very well right now. She has always been a very good defender, however here lately she is emerging as a more consistent contributor within the offense. That is very good news for the Bearcats.

Are these genuine observations or pot shots? Wondering simply because I can think of several quality reasons for the up and down, but honestly, none of these would be near the top of the list.
