Press Release:

Highlands High School girls basketball player Lydia Graves will sign a letter of intent to play basketball at Georgetown College. The signing will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, in the theatre studio at Highlands High School.

Graves is a two-year starter who averaged 8 points per game last year on the Regional Semi-Finalist team and was also a member of our 2013 Regional Runner-Up team. She is currently averaging 10.7 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 56% from the floor.

“Lydia is an outstanding basketball player who continues to get better as the year progresses. I’m very excited that her hard work is paying off and that she will be able to continue her basketball career,” said Jaime Richey, Highlands High School head girls basketball coach. “Georgetown College is getting a very dedicated player that will help their team be successful.”

John Schlarman played football at UK. Tammy Schlarman played volleyball at NKU. All from the same family!

LA, I noticed you didn't say Scott. (kidding my man!)

Who???????? She got every ounce of her athletic ability from her dad, Scott. If anyone else tells you differently then they are flat out lying.

Congratulations to Lydia......she is so fun to watch because she is so versatile and is a complete player. She is a tough defender (usually against bigger girls), handles ball well (often point against press), great rebounder (see avg per game) and has good shooting range (most points are from jump shot). She is getting better each game........playing her best right now

Best part is she is a great kid from a super family........G'Town is gettin a good one!

Congratulations! That is awesome! Love it when a kid works hard and things work out for them!

A combination of family names from Ft Thomas that screams Highlands athletes and legacy...The Schlarman /Graves names are strong and the athletes are a product of some great genes as someone else has mentioned.

Congrats to Lydia...well done young lady :thumb:

Always nice to see someone realize their dreams to play at the next level. Good luck to her and enjoy the remainder of the season.

Congrats to Lydia, she can play multiple positons and plays them all very well.

Comes from a wonderful family, more than basketball Lydia is a great young lady and I wish her all the luck in the world.
