Final from Erlanger. To open this game, Lloyd took full advantage of the comfort and confidence of playing at home. Behind some very determined play and blistering shooting, the Juggernauts jumped out to a 14 point lead. During this time, Walton had a few time out's where they had some "discussions" about their sub par energy level and execution. It worked. In the last 4 minutes of the second quarter, the Bearcats erased the 14 point lead to take a 3 point lead into the half. From there, the Bearcats did not look back. Although the Juggs, lead by Behannan and Cheatum, continued to battle, the Bearcats were able to control and get out of Erlanger with a 9 point win. Hats off to the young Juggernauts. They continue to get better and better under Coach Teke. Behannan and Cheatum, a Soph and Junior, will continue to make a huge impact. I am pretty sure that we will be hearing more of those two in NKY. Congrats to the Bearcats on the win.

Do you have any details on this one, or a box score? Anderson shoots to well and definitely plays too fast to only score 33! I am assuming that Shelby was successful in slowing them way down. How did Currens from Anderson do?

I got no problem, other than the negative report BEFORE anything is looked at. I don't think assuming and reporting the worst before you actually know for sure is wise. It is just as fair to assume the best, until she is examined. For now, let's say Hunter is fine and will be back soon!

If I am doing my math right, that would be 5 threes. You CANNOT let her shoot them. She will light it up.

I have seen different things at random times. Cooper used a box and 1 in the second quarter with Held on Ison, however in doing so, Walton still scored 22 points that quarter. The box and 1 did not account for Simpson, and other perimeter shooters who made Cooper pay in that defense. Simpson had 13 that quarter. I beleive this stresses the point that Tiger 1 made. When Simpson and even others remain consistent, and I fully believe they will, Walton is pretty good. Teams cannot focus defensively all on one person. Another point to make is you cannot defend free throws. Ison is pretty decent at getting to the line and knocking them down. It also helps that in late game situations, when other teams are fouling, she is going to be one that Walton tries to make you foul. I am not taking anything away from the kid, but free throws definitely play a big part. And besides, we still have to play Highlands. I should just tell you that we don't play defense in the 8th, Highlands is free to look right past us. :lol2:

Could not agree more. Walton-Verona desperately needs Simpson. When she plays with energy and the confidence that she is capable of, very good things begin to happen for Walton as a whole. The second quarter last night vs Cooper is a great example. She was a huge factor in Walton breaking out a 14 point lead by the half. I will add, that it will also help as Lehkamp learns to stay out of foul trouble and can stay on the floor more. Last night, not being in foul trouble, she ended up with 8 points, and a bunch of steals. If Walton can start getting that from her consistently on top of Ison and Simpson, that will go a long way also.

You are 100% incorrect in what I was pointing out or referring to. Talk about someone who needs to let the call and the shot go. That discussion was over yesterday. I just pointed out the inconsistency of your two post. That is all. Though it was funny, and honestly, I think it reveals you are trying to be a pest. The only point I was making is how others choose to communicate with a little more humility.

Final from Walton-Verona Cooper jumps out to an early lead in the first couple of possessions, then the Bearcats get warmed up and build a 14 point lead by halftime. Morgan Simpson had at least 3 first half 3's and according to Walton's twitter feed, Ison had 14 at the half. Both teams played just about even in the 3rd quarter, until Walton opened up an 18 point lead by midway through the 4th. Cooper did not quit. They picked up the pace and was able to cut the lead down to 8. They had the help of some questionable Walton decision making, but finally, some very late Walton free throws secured the 10 point victory for the Bearcats. Cooper's Lexi Held seems to be able to score about whenever she wants. Heck of a ball player. Hailey Anderson played well and is a very smart ball player. She just makes good decisions. Ison and Simpson led the Bearcats, but I do not know what they had. Cooper was having trouble guarding them both inside and out. I was impressed with Rachel Lehkamp from Walton. She wreaked havoc on defense tonight, getting loose balls, and coming up with steals. Congrats to the Bearcats on the win.

C'mon Dixie, I don't know if I am comfortable putting anyone in a district final or regional at all. The 8th is going to be competitive, and there is a lot of basketball to be played. Anderson, Shelby, Trimble and Williamstown all remain undefeated. One comment on the bolded from your post. I am aware that competitive players can put pressure on themselves, but honestly, most of the time, I think more pressure comes from adults. I am not saying this is the case in this situation, because I have no idea. I am just saying that, many times, a young person is sensing a lot of pressure to perform for acceptance, and that is a problem. There is more to life than basketball, and many times, all a kid needs is a hug, and "I love you just the way you are." Sorry to sound sappy, but these girls are not adults yet, and they are still trying to secure their worth, without having to prove themselves. Sometimes its nice to not let them have to earn it.

No box score for this one listed with the rest of NKY games from Saturday on the enquirer's website. I know Simpson for WV had 13, and most of them seemed to be huge and timely. This included two three pointers to close the 2nd quarter that helped cut the lead to 1 by half time. She gave a huge momentum boost for Walton that was desperately needed before the half. WV's Ison had 22, including 3 for 4 from beyond the arc. As Dixie posted earlier SK's Harmeyer had 14. She got hot early for SK and helped them build a lead, but cooled of a little as the game went on. If anyone else has any to add, I'd like to see them. When SK was able to manipulate SK's 1-3-1, Meyer was getting some easy buckets point blank. How many did she end up with? And I will add this. No way I'm holding Niece's 2 points against her. I attribute some to Walton's game plan and execution and perhaps much of it to her having "just one of those nights". The kid is a gifted and dangerous ball player with a huge future. I'm glad Walton isn't having to face her the next game out.

First of all, if it was not for the intentional foul call, this situation probably does not happen. I have the biggest issue with that? Did you ask your colleague about that one? Secondly, I am curious as to why you didn't respond to this with your own opinion before asking someone else. I have never seen on here a time where you deferred official's instruction and interpretation to a "superior". I thought that was interesting, but did not want to speculate. Perhaps you could help me out here? Lastly, with the small description you give as being a condition of a shooting foul, I can say that yes, I see those things. A "gather" in order to end the dribble. Perhaps you need to be more specific, but the video shows the ball gathered, it shows even a shot off of two feet. And both of these are when the hold and shove come.

I don't have a need to be right. I do however have a competitive drive. A slightly arrogant post at the beginning of this thread stated that the intentional foul made no difference. Yeah..that got me going. And as I stated in an earlier post, sometimes you have to take a stand. The intentional foul robbed Walton of the chance they had played the entire game to give themselves. You take that on top of the fact that it is a district rival, a district seeding game, and you just want to see the game played out by the players, it get's aggravating. I think it is just that simple. You are right though, there is a lot of season for the girls to play. Although a tough pill to swallow watching how it had to end, it does not define their season. The best thing for them to do now is put it behind them, and continue to work to be the best version of themselves. I trust that they and the coaches will continue to do that.

Your observations are fine and I don't take them offensive or for argument. We can agree for sure about the intentional. It is absolutely a bigger deal than the non shooting foul call. In fact, it is really the only deal. If that doesn't happen, and the game is decided by the players on the court, I have zero issues. I probably should have mentioned that in my first response to you, because again, it was crazy to call that in that situation, and in that context. As far as your question...Yes, I have seen a official wave off a made lay up or shot, and point to the floor. I have also seen them count it, when they probably should not have. I am not making a point with that. I am just stating I have seen it both ways. All I can say is in this case, I still believe the player was shooting. And I am very okay if folks don't agree. As far as your point about Ison, I never meant to imply that she shoots from the perimeter left handed. I apologize if I wasn't clear. I meant exactly what you said, that with shots around the bucket, out of the post, or driving, she could very well get enough with her left to make her shots count close to 40/60 left or right attempts. Again though, your 2 cents is fine.
