  1. If you are using that logic, then you should have not one, but two * next to Hemmerich. He missed 4+ weeks of the season with an ankle injury.
  2. Final score isn't really indicative of how this game went. Conner led by 20+ points the entire game. I believe they were up 28 with about 5 minutes to go when they emptied the bench. Lloyd did not sub and the lead dwindled to 10 before the final buzzer. Nice, balanced scoring attack for the Cougars this evening.
  3. Conner 63, Lloyd 53 Lloyd (8-13)–Kemen 1 0 2, Townsend 2 2 6, Neal 1 0 2, Molitor 0 2 2, Williams 1 0 2. Runion 2 0 4, Hamilton 6 1 16, McClendon 6 3 17, Jouett 1 0 2. Totals: 20 8 53. Conner (13-7)–Gambrel 1 2 5, Connley 6 2 15, Scott 5 0 12, Padgett 1 1 4, Garnett 5 2 12, Cook 1 0 2, Hemmerich 4 5 13. Totals: 23 12 63. Halftime: C 33-14. 3-pointers: C 5 (Scott 2, Gambre, Connley, Padgett); L 5 (Hamilton 3, McClendon 2).
  4. Ryle played really well. The final result is more of the latter, rather than Conner coming out flat & laying an egg. Both teams played with a lot of energy, which isn't always easy to do on a Saturday afternoon in a mostly empty gym. Ryle made big-time adjustments from the previous game with Conner, especially as it relates to handling Conner's full-court pressure. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say Ryle probably scored 50 or so of their 79 points on lay ups. I realize that has been Conner's M. O. this year, and they've had a lot of success forcing turnovers, but I have to think you have to call off the press at some point to stop the Ryle lay up line and see what they can do in a half court set. No injury excuses for Conner in this one, as Hemmerich, Cook, and Supernaut all were back in uniform and played yesterday. Hemmerich, understandably, looked rusty but got better as the game progressed. Unfortunately, the injury bug did hit Conner once again when Garnett left the game early in the 4th Qtr. X-rays after the game confirmed he has a broken nose. Welcome to the 33rd, where the unpredictable becomes the ordinary!
  5. Conner needs to get healthy, pure and simple. They've been without their leading scorer, Hemmerich, for a month now. Key reserve Jake Supernaut has been out the past 2 weeks, and last night they were also without their starting "big" Logan Cook (who had been playing really well) who hit his face on the floor and lost a tooth the previous game. They are down 2 starters and a significant other, and at the pace they play they need all hands on deck to be effective.
  6. It's hard to lead when your on the bench the last 6 minutes of the 3rd quarter and the entire 4th quarter.
  7. Congrats to the Cougars on a nice start to the season and their Lloyd Memorial Invitational Tournament Championship! Also, congrats to Michael Scott, Travis Connley, and Kyler Padgett on All-Tourney selection, and to Alec Garnett on being named the MOP of the tourney! 8. Final in the semis of the Lloyd Invitational. Conner advances to play Lloyd tomorrow night in the finals vs Lloyd at 8:30 pm.
  9. Ludlow led 39-38 mid-way through the 3rd Qtr. Conner closed out the game with a 37-9 run, scoring 30 points in the 4th Qtr. Very similar game compared to their 1st meeting earlier this year. Conner was up 10 points or so much of the game. Ludlow made a big run in the 3rd Qtr to take the lead, then ran out of gas dealing with Conner's full-court pressure all night long. Conner advances to play Dixie tonight in the semifinals at 8:30 pm.
  10. Correct. 3rd Degree sprain in his ankle. Out 4-6 weeks.
  11. Can a mod please merge these 2 threads. Thank you.
  12. Impressive win for the Cougars. Hemmerich went down in the first couple minutes of the game with an ankle injury and did not return. Michael Scott led the way with 22 points. His ability to slash to the basket and finish at the rim has really improved. Kyler Padgett scored a season high 11 points to help fill the scoring void left by Hemmerich's injury, who is the Cougars leading scorer on the season. Padgett appears to be getting his basketball legs underneath him and looks more in sync. Conner once again applied full court pressure throughout the game, which forced many turnovers. The impressive part to me was when Ryle did break the trap in the backcourt there was consistently a Conner player sprinting back to stop the ball or cause a deflection near the basket. This team plays hard. Coach McFarland was not a happy person last night. He was constantly pulling kids and sitting them for not following instructions and their game plan. Most of this seemed to revolve around the Ryle press offense. Seemed he was trying to make several points to his kids and he made it clear to do what you are told or you are going to sit. Plain and simple. Word is Hemmerich is out indefinitely. He was wearing a boot when he left the gym last night. Hope he has a speedy recovery. Conner moves to 6-1 on the year. Nice start for the Cougs, with their lone loss coming to Cooper.
  13. Both teams came out a little flat and sloppy to start the game. Conner got going about half way through the 1st Qtr with their full-court pressure. I believe SK turned it over 4 straight possessions and Conner built a 20-7 lead. Conner was in control the rest of the way and SK never posed any threat as Conner was up 15 at the half and 19 after the 3rd Qtr. Conner has the talent and experience to make some noise this year. There isn't a team in the 9th that plays any harder than they do. The key is if Scott and Hemmerich can continue to take good shots within the flow of the offense and not force things. And, it still remains to be seen how they will defend when they face a dominant post player. Conner isn't very big inside at all.
  14. Any 9th Region list needs to include Rob Padgett from St. Henry, 1994. Scored nearly 2,500 points.
  15. The Top 26 is a first-class event. Very well done. Congrats to all the coaches and players who were selected.
  16. The Top 26 Banquet is tonight. Congrats to Isiah Ebarb and Kyler Padgett from Conner who were selected.
  17. Conner is 3-0 and beat East Jessamine by 33 in the game you are referencing.
  18. Conner improves to 2-0. The Cru drop to 0-2. Conner 60, St. Henry 56 Conner (2-0) - Connley 2 0 4, Scott 8 2 18, Padgett 12 4, Garnett 2 1 5, Cook 4 1 11, Hemmerich 6 3 16, Alimardani 1 0 2. Totals: 24 9 60. St. Henry (0-2) - Berling 1 0 2, Williams 3 0 9, Goetz 5 6 17, Mayley 2 0 4, Wallenhorst 7 2 16, Macheinski 4 0 8. Totals: 22 8 56. Halftime: C 32-31. 3-pointers: C 3 (Cook 2, Hemmerich); H 4 (Williams 3, Goetz).
  19. The Enquirer's game preview: CONNER (8-3) at COOPER (9-2) WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Jaguar Stadium, Union. WHAT TO WATCH: Cooper shut out Seneca 40-0 in the first round, while Conner pulled out a 14-12 win at Campbell County. Cooper won 15-13 on a last minute field goal by junior Mitchell Hollifield when these teams met in Week 9. Conner senior quarterback Kyler Padgett has completed 26-of-29 passes for 340 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions in the past two games, including last week's performance when he completed 16-of-19 for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Cooper quarterback Nathan Brown had a big game last week too, throwing for 215 yards and five TDs with no interceptions
  20. Broke his leg in the Ryle game, which was on 10/16.
  21. Per the Conner Coaches Show last night, sounds like senior Sam Driggers might be returning for Conner. Not sure what kind of shape or condition he will be in, but would be a nice boost for the Cougars.
  22. Conner advances and will travel to Cooper next Friday in a much anticipated rematch.
