  1. Nick Craddock gets the start and the W. Armstrong gets the L for CCH. CCH had beaten Conner twice already this season, so a good win and some redemption for the Cougars. Borman busts out of a mild slump and went 2-2 and pitched the final out for the save. Manning went 2-3. CCH leaders were Pitzer and Picirrillo who had 2 hits apiece. Conner is now 16-4 (2-1) on the season.
  2. Conner 8, Cooper 2 W–Borman (4-1); L–Reid. Leaders: Con–Borman 2 RBI; Padgett 3-3. Coo–Runion HR, 2 RBI. Record: Con 15-4.
  3. Drew Borman goes the distance and gets the W for Conner. Padgett goes 3-3 with 2 RBI. Conner moves to 15-4 (2-1). I didn't realize that Cooper has never beaten Conner in baseball.
  4. As a parent of 2 boys, I always encouraged them both to play as many sports as they could, for as long as they could, assuming they still wanted to play and were good enough to continue to do so. Fortunately, they both played football, basketball, and baseball from the time they were 5 until they graduated high school. They were both lucky enough to have offers to play in college, but both decided it was time to move on to the next phase of their lives and just attend college as a "normal" kid, enjoying college life and focusing on their degrees. The reality is, most people, including my kids, will never make a nickel playing professional sports. Why not encourage kids to build memories and bonds with people and enjoy as many different experiences, obstacles, and accomplishment as possible in their developmental years and through high school? I know they both have forged life-long bonds with other players and their families that will always be cherished and look back on with fondness. If you are trying to make a kid focus on one sport you are doing him/her a disservice. Again, this is assuming they WANT to play and are gifted enough to make the team. And, selfishly, I'm glad they both chose the road they did, because we received as many good memories and friendships as parents as they did as players.
  5. Conner 8, Holy Cross 5 W—Craddock (2-0); L—Wilson. Leaders: C—Garnett 2-4, 3B; Sherman 2-4, 2 RBI; Padgett 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI. H—Yancey 2-4; Lovensheimer 2B; Carl 2-4; Finnell 2B. Records: C 10-2.
  6. Final from Meiken in the Doc Morris. WP-Craddock S-Fromeyer Conner sits at 10-2 (1-0) and plays Bishop Brossart on Friday in the Doc Morris at 5 pm at Meiken.
  7. Conner gets the win in the 33rd District seeding game. Conner now sits at 9-2 (1-0). WP-Borman LP-Purnell S-Craddock
  8. Crazy game. Dixie jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first and led 9-2 in the 5th. Conner with a nice comeback with the big blows being the 2 HRs by Sims. The wind was definitely a factor. Several routine fly balls were dropped by both teams.
  9. Craddock started and went 5 I believe. Justice came on to pitch the 6th.
  10. First pitcher for Conner was junior Nick Craddock. He has really slimmed down and gotten into shape this past winter. I believe he went 8-0 his freshman year, struggled a bit at times last year, but his renewed focus should bode well for the Cougars this season.
  11. I don't see one comment on here about the officiating except yours. The refs didn't "win" it for Conner in the 33rd. They didn't "lose" it for them today. And, if you are referring to the charge call in the Ryle game I've watched it 100 times and still can't tell. Certainly, not the egregious call you are claiming it to be. Today, was a hard fought HS basketball game. Conner played their hearts out. Congrats to CCH for moving on. And, to feed your fire, Cole is the beneficiary of ALOT of calls.
  12. Great career, for Adam Goetz. Kid can play for any one, any where, anytime.
  13. Congrats to all the candidates, and especially, Brett. Well-earned, and a great acceptance speech!
  14. Banquet is tonight at the Westin Downtown. Good luck to all!
  15. Anyone know who had the possession arrow in the event the infamous "Blarge" would have been called?
  16. Cooper is playing on the road, without their 2 best players, and trying to beat Conner for a third time. Sometimes the latter is irrelevant, however, both games this year were decided by 5 points and Conner held a lead late in the game in each of the losses, so there may be some truth to that this time around. Ironic, that it's Conner who is healthy now, as they've had their fair share of injuries this year. I expect a predictably close, hard fought game, as is always the case between these two teams, and will take Conner to win this one by the familiar margin of 5. The experience of Conner's 4 seniors will be the difference.
  17. The charge call in question was a bang-bang play. There's going to be controversy on such a pivotal call that late in the game, especially when the refs confer for a few seconds before making the call. If you're a Conner fan, it was a charge. If you are a Ryle fan, it was a block. I thought it was a charge in real-time, but in full disclosure it was close.
  18. Congrats to the Cougars. Survive and advance never rang truer than this evening. Scott was fabulous tonight. He gets to the rim as well as anyone in the 9th.
  19. Kyler has probably taken over 30 charges at the varsity level for Conner, none bigger than the one tonight.
  20. Big congrats to Sam! Great kid who had some bad luck with injuries this year. I'm really happy he is getting the opportunity to continue to play at the next level.
  21. Final from Ft. Mitchell. Michael Scott led the Cougars with 16 points. Jake Supernant chipped in 11 (believe that's a career high).
  22. Kyler Padgett Congrats to all 5 young men! They had exceptional seasons on and off the field. All are worthy candidates. Good luck to each of them at the banquet and whatever they chose to do after graduation!
