  1. I was at the Conner spring game this year, and they are noticeably a much bigger football team now. Being as young as they were last year, obviously another year for them to mature physically and also hit the weight room should help their cause. Look for Ebarb to have a HUGE year. I'm not sure he will come off the field and should excel in all facets of the game. He looked bigger and quicker. The addition of Collier should give Conner a little boost. He looked really good defensively playing at DE and LB. He might end up being too valuable on the defensive side of the ball to be considered for QB (Conner QBs traditionally do not play both ways). Time will tell if Padgett earns the starting QB spot back for 2015. This will be his first week back with the football team now that baseball has ended. Kid is gonna have a busy schedule with hoops shoot-arounds in the morning, football conditioning in the afternoon, and summer baseball games in the evening.
  2. Ostertag goes for Conner. Purnell for Boone Co. Boone gets the win despite not having one hit. Haven't seen that happen in a long time. Walks and errors were the demise for the Cougars today.
  3. The MC and Conner game was played at SK, and MC handed it to the Cougars pretty good 13-2.
  4. I was told this game could have been moved and played at NKU, but Cooper elected not to. I assume they wanted to put some separation in between the District games as it relates to pitching.
  5. Game summary: Roundup: Conner comes back to beat Campbell Co.
  6. Borman started for Conner and eventually gave way to Black. Volz pitched the 7th for the save.
  7. Lonneman started for the Raiders and went the distance, including the 8th inning. Ostertag started for Conner and gave way to Borman in the 6th.
  8. Correct, this game has now been cancelled.
  9. Game is still on as of right now. Conner at Highlands. 5 pm. This is the make-up game that was rained out on Thursday.
  10. Franklin pitched well. Good command and threw a ton of breaking ball and off-speed pitches. Volz came in and threw hard once again to close the door. Big play for Conner was an RBI double by Ward that squirted pass the LF. The relay was overthrown at 3B and Ward subsequently scored on the error. The Highlands game for today has already been cancelled, so we'll have to wait until 5/15 to see that matchup.
  11. Miserable day for baseball yesterday. Cold and windy and the game was played in a drizzle all afternoon. Conner pitching looked good. Borman started and got the W. He was relived by Mletzko and Volz, both of which also pitched good and had some extra pop that was not there last year. You know the ball that Ward hit had to be crushed to go over the left center wall yesterday in the conditions. There was probably only 5 hits or so total for both teams. Lot of walks and sloppy play from the NCC crew.
  12. I will preface this by noting it was only a scrimmage, but Campbell looked very sloppy yesterday vs Conner. Error after error and many mental mistakes as well. Cameron Edwards started the game and he did not seem to have his best stuff. Conner bats woke up and they looked much better in their second scrimmage of the season. Jacob Owens went yard for Conner.
  13. Conner trailed by 22 in the second half and mounted a furious comeback led by Michael Scott. Tough loss for the Tigers who dominated for 3 quarters.
  14. That said, the kid played great. Had to feel some pressure coming back to face old friends at Conner. Looked strange seeing Mr. and Mrs. Kunkel sitting on the Cooper side in maroon and gold!
  15. Kunkel played fantastic, especially as a freshman coming "home". I'd rather fully understand how young Kunkel is eligible to play at Cooper as a Hebron resident, considering 2 brothers have gone to Conner and the family hasn't moved.
  16. Final from NKU. http://www.fox19.com/clip/11065685/conner-shoots-down-ryle?clienttype=generic Conner very balanced in scoring. Barnes led the way with 21. Scott poured in 20 and Padgett chipped in 19.
  17. Fun game to watch. Conner led by 2 at the end of the 1st quarter and at the half. Pace of play was pretty fast. As mentioned, Barnes was a huge reason for that. Kid was red hot. Michael Scott picked up his 4th foul early in the 3rd quarter. CCH just had too much for Conner at that point and out scored them 24-8 in the 3rd. I believe the lead ballooned to 20. Kudos to Conner for continuing to fight. Lead got back down to 7 late in the 4th but CCH shot well from the line down the stretch to pull away and seal it.
  18. Lack of ball handlers? Conner starts 5 guards, essentially. I'd say that is one of the few things they don't lack. That said, it will obviously be a big challenge for the Cougars tomorrow night.
  19. Conner's issue last night was that offensively, the person who brought the ball up the floor, or the person that caught the first pass, shot the ball 90% of the time. As an earlier post stated, a lot of 1 on 4 and 1 on 5 basketball last night, especially in the second half. No movement, no sharing of the ball, no basketball cuts or plays by players trying to get the basketball or help a teammate to get open. Hemmerich's stats look good in the newspaper, but he took ALOT of shots to get to those 19 points.
