  1. I like Conner tonight. I will say 6-2. Close game and Conner scores a few late to put it out of reach.
  2. Game was a no-hitter. Perfect game was lost in bottom of the last inning with a 2-out walk. Several pitchers threw for Conner.
  3. Agree completely. The irony is the kid is a great kid. Never had any issues with him. He started crying during this whole ordeal and all I could do is keep telling him it wasn't his fault. Just a horrible situation for him to get thrown into.
  4. While coaching HS basketball, I was once confronted in the hallway after a game. The parents (yes, both mom and dad) proceeded to verbally assault me and physically threaten me for not playing their son. He then made his son quit the team and strip out of his uniform right there in the public hallway. He then followed me to the parking lot and blocked me from getting in my car, still continuing his barrage. Finally, another parent grabbed him and removed him so I could leave. I told the school about it the next day and they did not do one thing. In fact, his son is still a student and plays football and his parents are at every game. This is why I no longer coach there.
  5. Conner has outscored Beechwood 20-3 in their two games against each other this year. Ross continues to bring it on the mound and the freshman Craddock keeps pitching very well for Conner, too.
  6. Indeed! Was at SK a few weeks ago and Blaise was in LF. A SK fan walked in, saw Blaise, turned around to go back to the gate where they were collecting money and asked "Why is there a softball game being played on the baseball field?" True story.
  7. Ryan McGinness-CovCath Alec Garnett-Conner Kyler Padgett-Conner Colten Downs-SK Couple Pitchers: Daniel Dahms-Boone Co Ricky Raisor-Highlands
  8. Dillon Lockstead got the W for Conner. Ryan Ward got the save.
  9. I believe Craddock, who is a freshman, is now 3-0 on the mound. He's pitched very well this year for the Cougars.
  10. Freshman Nick Craddock pitched well to get his second W of the year. Big kid who throws hard. Ryan Ward had a HR for Conner. Scott had 2 runners thrown out at home plate and another runner doubled up at 2b on a fly ball to left field that stymied any attempts for a comeback.
  11. There's no way the Cooper drop by the 1B should have been called an out. Nor should the one that was dropped by the RF, both of which occurred in the first inning and led to 4 unearned runs for Conner. I did not see the ball that was dropped by the Conner catcher so it wouldn't be fair for me to make a comparison between the two. Very exciting finish to the game. The ball Dunn hit was a laser that hit the yellow tubing on the fence in right center, so it just missed going out by literally a few inches. The ball Hart hit was a bomb out to RF. Congrats to Dillon Lockstead who drove in the winning run with a hard hit ball down the third base line that was just out of reach of the third baseman, who did get a glove on it but was clearly a hit.
  12. Really liking the chemistry I am seeing from this Conner team. It's obvious that some of the "distractions" we've seen the past couple years are gone and the team really looks like they are enjoying the game and each being around each other.
  13. Back to back to back if you include the season opener vs Highlands. He was really bringing it last night. Kept the ball low and on the corner all game long and had a perfect game going into the 6th inning.
  14. Couple of nice "firsts" for Conner. Conner's Dustin Baker hit a bomb to left center for his first career varsity HR. And considering there was about a 30 mph headwind, it was indeed a bomb. Gosney gave up two runs in the first inning and settled down nicely to go the distance for his first varsity win. Some concern for Conner as J Williams came up a little lame while scoring on a wild pitch. Immediately grabbed his hamstring when he crossed the plate. Hopefully, nothing too serious and he's back in the lineup tonight vs Glen Este.
  15. While I agree that BW has/had some big games looming with the All A Final and the Doc Morris, this was still an important game between 2 good teams at the Reds Futurecase with scouts in attendance.
  16. It's one thing for an Assistant Coach to be screaming and hollering from the bench during the varsity game. What rubs me wrong is when he is doing the same thing, from the STANDS, during the JV game. Bush league IMO.
  17. Interesting. Conner practiced at the Cintas Center tonight to get comfortable with a bigger court and shooting background. Look at Hicks pulling some strings!!
  18. Congrats to Ryle on taking the District Championship. Great atmosphere last night. Great to see both schools have a big turnout with their respective student bodies. Item of note: Conner missed NINE straight free throws in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Convert half of those and it's a different game coming down the stretch.
  19. Conner wins in a very close, hard fought game. Hemmerich will be the difference but look for Stuhr to have a huge game for Ryle.
  20. This game was the tale of two halves. Cooper came out firing on all cylinders. 3's were falling from both McNeils and Holland as Conner was in a 1-3-1 zone. The bounces were going Cooper's way including an incredible pass from Zack McNeil from half court, on his knees, that resulted in a layup at the other end. 17-6 Cooper after the 1qtr. 2nd qtr much of the same as Hemmerich could not get going, Way's shot wasn't falling, and Scott and Lamblez struggled. I believe the lead stretched to 18 about mid-way through the 3qtr. Conner made a nice little run to cut it to 10, then the Watts steal, dunk, and 1 really got the Cougars rolling and stymied any momentum Cooper had. Hemmerich will get a lot of the praise, and deservedly so. But, Lamblez got it going slicing to the rim, Scott showed some moxie knocking down a big 3, and Way made a big pull up jumper from the FT line. Conner finally pulled away late when Cooper started fouling. If you are a Conner fan, parent, or coach you will remember this game for a long, long time. Think this one takes away a little of the sting from last year's 2OT loss to Cooper in the Districts.
  21. How has Conner faired against Ryle this year? 1-1 with both teams winning at home.
