  1. Congratulations to Holy Cross guard Olivia Crigler who went over 1,000 points for her career in a win over Boone County on Saturday night. She finished the game with 20 points. She is averaging 21 ppg so far on the season. She recently signed to play in college next year at Kentucky State. A really nice player and ever better young lady.
  2. Ok thanks for the update. I know this kid can shoot. Great job by Campbell Co.
  3. Anyone know about Jamin Shumate? I don't see him in the box score but I know he is one of their top scorers. Hopefully he is not hurt?
  4. Shout out to Junior Nate Niehaus who had a career high 24 points last night. Holy Cross will take on Scott on Saturday at 1:30 pm (at Newport) in the John Turner Classic.
  5. Dixie will hang around playing at home but Beechwood wins 72-64.
  6. Final from Latonia Unofficially from Holy Cross Radio. Senior Olivia Crigler led all scorers with 23 points for the Indians. Sophomore Sidney Thomas added 17. Holy Cross was missing 2 starters tonight but played a nice second half to break open a close game against a nice team. Fern Creek has a couple 8th graders that are going to be good. * Congrats to first year head coach Marty Rankin with his first win of the season.
  7. Holy Cross (Covington, Ky.) Internet Radio Stream - Live and replay Widget * Holy Cross radio will broadcast most boys and girls home games and tournament games. Good luck to all the broadcast teams this year and the schools they represent.
  8. If Tahj Harding is back it clearly makes them a better team and back in the top 5 discussion but keep in mind this team was a region "dark horse" last year after the strong regular season and then lost to Holy Cross in the first round of the region as a heavy favorite in that game (and that was with MeKell Burries). So I will take a wait and see approach when it comes to how good this Newport team will be this year. I will say this too, I don't think Coach Snapp gets the credit he deserves for the job he does at Newport. Behind all the animation on the sidelines I think the guy can coach. Good luck to Newport this year.
  9. Beechwood will be very good this year. They've had solid teams the last few years but have been unable to get out of the 35th district. Like you said, tough team and coach Goetz is a great coach on the sidelines. But a "Lock" for an All "A" state bid? Possibly. But I do believe they drew into a tough part of the All "A" regional bracket with Newport and NCC (host). Should be another fun season. Good luck to all teams as they get their seasons started here in a few weeks.
  10. I think there is a younger Iles kid that is a Freshman too that is supposed to be a really nice player. Looking forward to seeing Ross Pangallo play too. NCC has a nice group of Freshman coming in. Best of luck to all teams as they get their seasons started here in a few weeks.
  11. Just met him for the first time earlier this week. The things I have heard previously are positive. He has a lot of talent coming back to work with right from the start (that helps). I think he will do just fine. I think we are all already looking forward to the Holy Cross/Notre Dame match up in Latonia next year.
  12. NCC jumped out early with 5 runs in the bottom of the first off Holy Cross starter Hunter Twehues. The Indians would come back off NCC starter Gunner Smith with 4 runs in the 2nd and 1 more in the 3rd to tie the game 5-5 heading into the bottom of the 3rd. The Breds then plated 3 more runs in the 3rd to regain the lead and would never look back. The Indians hurt themselves allowing 7 walks and committing 6 errors in the game. It was good to see the Holy Cross offense come alive early in the game after getting down 5-0 against a nice pitcher in Smith. Best of luck to both teams. HC 5 - 9 - 6 NCC 15 - 11 - 2 WP - Smith LP - Twehues HC - Max Smith 2-3, 2 runs Brian Carl 2-3, 2 rbi Loel Haggard 1-3, 2 rbi NCC- Harrison Walz 3-5, 2B, 2 rbi Gunner Smith 2-2 Robby Shondel 2-4, 2B, 3 rbi Kyle Losey 1-3, 2B, 2 rbi, 3 runs
  13. Mustang - I saw you walk in but didn't get a chance to get over and talk to you. You are right it was a beautiful day for baseball in Alexandria. Good luck to the Mustangs the rest of the year and into the tournament.
  14. Final from Alexandria. Holy Cross 6 - 7 - 7 Brossart 5 - 6 - 1 Holy Cross led 6-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th but the Mustangs wouldn't go down easy. After a couple hits and two Holy Cross errors, the Mustangs cut the lead to 6-5 with only 1 out and still 2 men on. Holy Cross then brought in senior Jordan Niehaus in relief of starter Brian Carl. Niehaus would get a strikeout and ground out to preserve the win for the Indians. Winning Pitcher - Brian Carl Losing Pitcher - Verst Save - Jordan Niehaus Holy Cross - (8-13) Loel Haggard 2-3 Parker Zimmerman 2-3 Brian Carl 1-3, 2B, 2 rbi Brossart - (10-8) Baynum 2-4 Steffen 1-3, 2B
  15. MBaker61 you are correct that was my mistake. Isaiah Chitkara was 2-2 not Trattles. As far as the game, this was a nice early season win for Holy Cross against a good team. The Indians got good pitching and solid defense. Simon Kenton will be just fine IMO as they have good team with several nice players. Best of luck to both teams.
  16. Final from Meinken Field. SK 0 4 1 HC 2 5 1 WP - Twehues 1-0 LP - Trattles 0-1 SK - (0-1) Isaiah Trattles 2-2 HC - (1-1) Cameron Carl 2-3, 2B, run Brian Carl 1-3, RBI Jordan Niehaus 1-2, 2 SB Loel Haggard 1-2, run
  17. This game was 40-39 early in the 4th and Dixie went on a run to pull away and win. I think my Indians just ran out of gas in the 4th and couldn't keep the run going. Congrats to Dixie on a well played game and good luck in the finals. As far as this Holy Cross team. I couldn't be more proud of this team especially the senior group that has led the way. Not much at all was expected out of them this year and they have made us Holy Cross supporters very proud. The coaches/staff deserve a ton of credit as well. They game planned around their strengths this year which was the 3 senior guards and it worked pretty well. Best of luck to our 4 seniors who have meant so much to our program these past 4 years. Jordan Niehaus Nolan Schrand Parker Zimmerman Yeiner Gonzalez

  19. Holy Cross coaches and players deserve a ton of credit for sure. Not many outside people outside of that locker room believed they could win this game. The seniors led the way like they have all year for the Indians. As far as Newport, I was a little shocked only that they didn't seem to make any adjustments during the game. They didn't look to screen for Burries or help him get loose from the face guarding on the offensive end. To his credit he worked hard, on his own, to get 10 of his 12 points in the 2nd half. I also thought that Harding should have gone down in the paint more to use his physical presence. It seemed like he was out on the perimeter more than I thought he would be. Best of luck to the Newport seniors.
  20. These are two evenly matched teams in my opinion. Could come down to the last possession like the Holy Cross/Newport game did. I'll go with Holy Cross 64 -61.
